Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Eseta family made our visit memorable. They own and operate this facility. They picked us up from the airport, gave us a spacious, clean and AC room. They took us with them every night to the maniapa for delitious island food, dance and cheers. The entire family celebrated our anniversary. They are very knowledgeable about history, culture and current affairs. We will for ever remember their hospiotality.

Fiji Airlines has most reliable flights from SUV to FUN airport. Fast and cost free Visa is available for most countries. This lodge is in the middle of this town; a short walk from the airport. AUD is the only currency. The only bank is at the airport. There is one other nice lodge in town. Small boats are available for rent to visit other islands in the atoll. Motorbikes are the most common transport and are available for rent.

The government operated hotel is in a bad shape. There are no ATM in town and credit cards are not in use.

Although Tuvalu isn't the easiest place to get to, once you get there you'll be glad you made the effort especially if you stay at the ESFAM Hotel. My first night there, the ESFAM served a fantastic dinner buffet of all the local foods. Impressive and delicious! Breakfasts were great, too. I had one of the budget rooms, which was clean, quiet, cool and reasonably priced. The ESFAM is a 5-minute walk from the airport. The wifi worked well.

Esfam Lodge offers great value for money. Very clean, homely rooms. The reception/common area creates a sense of community. You have breakfast there with other guests and by the end of your stay, you have made new friends. The owners are a lovely couple. The staff are wonderful and friendly. The accommodation includes a lovely, homely breakfast. Once you visit, the staff never forget your name. If you want dinner prepared, you have to place your order at least 2hours prior. You must order their fried fish dish. Everytime I travel here for work, I choose the Esfam Lodge. But, you must book ahead because other development agency workers are choosing Esfam as their accommodation of choice.

The hotel is located 150m from the airport and can be easily reached on foot. The hotel's amenities are average, but generally passable. True, the air conditioning in my room worked very poorly.
The hotel has a restaurant where you can have lunch/dinner, but you must make a reservation in advance.
Everything is managed by a woman of 50-55 years old, of a very strict disposition. If she doesn't like you, you won't be able to see your wifi password...

I stayed 2 nights at Esfam Hotel while I was in Tuvalu. The hotel is basic by international standards, but it is good value for money and at a handy location near the airport which seems to be the main place of activity in Tuvalu. I was picked up from the airport and it was literally a 1 minute drive from the airport to the hotel. The room itself had good air conditioning and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is reasonably basic and the shower jet was spraying water in random directions. The power point to charge my phone was halfway up the wall which seemed a bit of an odd and inconvenient place for it to be. The hotel had plenty of seats in the main communal area. Breakfast had a variety of things to eat and drink - coffee, juice, eggs, pancakes, toast, cereals and fruit. I couldn't get Wi-fi to work at the hotel, but it is only a 2 minute walk to the Telecom building and I could get Wi-fi access if I sat outside the Telecom building. There are a couple of small shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Staff were nice at the hotel. If you come to Tuvalu, don't expect a luxurious 5 star hotel experience. It is a basic hotel, but it has got everything you need to have a good time in Tuvalu and I would recommend this place to other travelers planning on coming to Tuvalu.

A beautiful hotel where we feel at home. A spacious and very bright room, very clean, a large, very comfortable bed and air conditioning. In addition to free Wi-Fi. You couldn't ask for more since they have treated us as if we were part of the house. We stayed 4 nights but I would have stayed much longer. Thank you very much for your kindness and great welcome ❤️

Extremely friendly owners and staff - a home away from home. Comfortable beds, air condition and free Wi-Fi. Centrally located: a walk from the airport, great food and service above and beyond. If you’re going to Tuvalu, stay here!

I was fortunate to spend over 3 months in Tuvalu, I did my research and Esfam was #1 and I stayed there the whole time. New Beds, Excellent Aircons, Daily cleaning. No mould or nasties. The stay was made better by the Lovely hosts and staff! Esetta and Soloseni are the owners, if you are lucky you may findout a little more about Tuvalu and its history thru Soloseni a Master Fisherman in his day and sea fearer and wife Esetta a Matriarch in her community. Sometimes in weekend there are special buffets where you can experience the local cuisine and maybe Soloseni might sing you a song! TIP when booking always double, even triple check prior to arrival as this place is so popular,

We really enjoyed our stay and we strongly recommend ! :)

Our double room was very clean, spacious, with own toilet and perfectly working AC. There was also a commune kitchen with all the needed amenities. The offer is very good, having in mind the cheapest price in Funafuti.

The family running the lodge is so lovely, they took very good care of us. They were very helpful and they kept asking us whether we had any plans (and offering us to participate in their family / community get-together). We were able to eat freshly cooked fish and lobsters. We felt like part of the family. Of course they offered a pick up from / to the airport and saying goodbye to them was very difficult for us, as they made our trip to Funafuti truly amazing! Thank you once again :)

PS. There is also motorbike rental (AUD 10 per day), wifi cards available.
