Pros Lots of different chilling out spaces, good DVD selection Friednly helpful staff Quiet rooms available downstairs away from noise Good stocked kitchen with free pancakes Loys of clean showers & toilets cons The area inst great and although i think its safe it feel quite edgy but this may be Panama city in general. My travel pals and I read great things about their services and we weren't disappointed. They were fully booked and we had to stay nearby upon our arrival in Panama, but the staff was still more than happy to arrange accommodations at Ina's Island in the San Blas Archipelago, along with transportation. They were a wealth of information and advice...

We've stayed at Mamallena three separate times now and have enjoyed each experience. The staff is always helpful (particularly the time our luggage arrived 24 hours after we did!) and knowledgeable. The travel resources at the hostel are incredible, we have used their private airport shuttle and arranged a 4x4 adventure to the San Blas region (highly recommend!!!). They have...

I stayed here for 4 nights, 2 in a dorm and 2 in a private room. The dorms are clean with good quality, comfortable beds. They're pretty hot during the day but once they put the air con on at night, they cool down. The private rooms are small but adequate. Maybe a little pricey at $33 per night without...

It is out in the middle of nowhere. If you have come to Panama to see the old city or the canal, you don't want to be in this bad dangerous neighborhood where you have to take a taxi (if you can find one) everyplace. Stay in Casco Veijo. I don't know who writes the good reviews. When we were...

So, lets look at this. Either the majority of our guests are lying, or you are. Your apparent "review" is so out of place with the majority of other reviews that I consider it to be blatently false. I´ve seen your other review and it´s as badly negative as ours is. I haven´t been to the other place but it...

I spent three days at this hostel, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The hostel is clean, the mattresses are very comfortable, better actually then the one I have in my house, and the kitchen is clean and has ample space to move around in. I was impressed by the variety of their cooking utensils. The hostel...

Mamallena is a really nice place to stay. Actually one of the best places we stayed within 3 month of travelling. The stuff is awesome and really friendly and helpfull. The kitchen is always clean and good equipped. The rooms are really nice and clean. They also have a little garden with hammocks and a terrace for chillin. And you´ll...

Highly recommended, great social atmosphere, very friendly staff, nice location. Not a chaotic 'party' hostel, but you'll definitely have a good time here. Mamallena seems to attract a nice collection of travelers, always someone to have a coupla beers and interesting conversation with. Private rooms are small but with AC and 3 great common areas mean you don't spent much...

I know there are other hostels in Panama city, that you might want to go to. But I got into some serious trouble in Panama, and the staff actually helped my (physically went to the authorities!) situation. It is unbelievable. Also the hostel is clean, relaxed, good airco, nice digital movie center. Cold beers and good pancakes. But seriously. It's...

We stayed at hostel mamallenas a couple different nights passing through panama city. Its a very clean and welcoming place with very comfortable beds. The staff was great and helped us a lot especially when our baggage was lost on the plane. I felt very safe inside although my one complaint would be that it could be in a better...

Thanks for the review, and I´m glad you enjoyed the stay. a bit hard to move the hostel though! Our area is perfectly safe, but like Casco Viejo, we are near areas where you shouldn´t walk. I´m sure thats what the staff meant when they said that. The area of the hostel is fine though, and more of our guests...
