Many guests commend the Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa for its pristine cleanliness and friendly atmosphere, though opinions diverge when it comes to the condition of the rooms, with some finding them comfortable and others suggesting renovations are due. The resort's location is celebrated for its beautiful coral beach setting, but it's not ideal for those wishing to explore the city. While the range of amenities and activities is generally well-received, particularly by families, a few travelers highlight the need for updates. The staff earns high marks for their warm service, despite occasional service hiccups.

We spent 8 days at this resort over New Years. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the facilities. They are old and run down, the bathroom feels dirty, extremely weak shower pressure and they didn't replace the toilet paper on one occasion. There were also 4 instances where we were left with no shower towels, having to phone reception each time to request some be delivered. There were also plenty of ants through the room and bathroom. The rooms are way overpriced for what you actually get.

They advertise free wifi, however, you have to sit in a particular part of the restaurant or reception to actually connect to this, plus it is extremely slow speeds.

One piece of advice when visiting this resort is - GO FOR ALL INCLUSIVE - the value for money IS worth it in this package, having all meals and drinks included is worth it. The food is of no concern and we actually enjoyed our meals.

I would also love to give massive props to the activities team, Ben and Saki, in particular, these guys know how to have fun, they are highly engaging and make sure you're having an awesome time. Heaps of fun in happy hour and the nightly entertainment is brilliant, this is a big benefit to this resort.

Overall, the initial shock of this resort got us off to a bad start, but eventually, you will move past the looks of the resort and enjoy your stay, I put this down to the great staff. They really do make this resort great. Yes, the resort is extremely tired looking. But this doesn't mean you can't relax by the pool and enjoy the Fiji sun.

Reading prior reviews it is a case of "one man's meat".
Some found it great while others had misgivings.
The location is stunning. The grounds are kept to perfection. The feeling is "tales of the south pacific". But the bures are tired (at least ours was) and often the shower water is cold or no pressure if running at all! A lack of linen meant that the room staff had to apologise for the lack of replacement towels until later in the day. Lighting is dreadful both in the room and in the restaurant. The food has very little variety. Breakfast is 'same old, same old'. Chicken is very much a mainstay on the dinner menu. The staff are all delightful and can't do enough for you. Sadly unless a major make-over soon this resort could be left behind by the many alternatives available. Revisiting the Trip Adviser photos for this resort had me wondering how long ago they were taken and I did not see my "brick paver" floored unit in any photo.

The Hideaway Fiji was a family favourite resort we regularly visited when living in Fiji during the mid 2000’s so we naturally included this gem in our family holiday plans. What we were confronted with on arrival was a resort that had transformed its self from a classy little gem with sweeping views of the Coral Coast that oozed charm and character with its multi coloured bure’s of blue, yellow and greens to a resort desperately requiring refurbishment. Gone are the 180 degree sweeping views of the Coral Coast by the pool, replaced with an assortment of structures that block this aspect, warriors lighting the foreshore each evening to call in the Hideaway’s happy hour, which was followed by the sounds of Fijian’s serenading as you enjoyed a glass of your favourite on your Bure’s Patio at sunset. The main dining hall is dark and uninviting, albeit the fluro lights remain in-situ but not utilised for some reason. The furnishings provided to bure’s and main dining hall are an assortment of furniture pieces that have obviously been acquired from auctions by other resorts disposing old furniture. The meals were best described ordinary with the presentation of breakfast depressing. The bure’s were presented neat and clean, with reception staff being pleasant and accommodating. One aspect worthy of mention is the amazing beach situated on the western side of the resort that is a bi-product of the last 15 years by cyclone and tidal movement which is cleaned every morning by staff and offers guests a wonderful alternative to the pool area should you want peace and quiet. All that is required is for management is purchase day beds and appropriate sun lounges to offer families access to utilise this area. It is obvious that the resort is being driven by management focused on profit margins and that a shift in direction by leadership in providing guests the authentic Fijian experience the Hideaway Fiji was once renowned for.

This place needs to be knocked down and rebuilt, the rooms are so old and so dated, the shower areas are terrible, rooms are dirty furniture is old I’m disabled and asked for a room close to the restaurant and main foyer and was put in a room along way instead the disco they put on in the bar is a joke with only two or three people there at the time the drinks are very overpriced do not let the bartender premixed vodka drinks for you because you will get understrength drinks at overpriced cost. Buy it by the bottle it’s much better value food in the morning at breakfast is terrible no great variety food is not kept in optimal circumstances and often you will find it’s just cold. This place just needs To start all over again from scratch and put a priority on taking care of their disabled guests.

We visited this place as a big family
We booked 3 rooms
Check in time given was 11am
However we arrived at 2pm
Upon check in while entering the room the door was not opening,
We could see there were dead butterflies and ants at the doorsteps.
Even plnty sand and dirt in the porch.
Someome came to fix the door and he said we have to wait for electrician to come and fix.
When he opened the door
We saw the room was dirty
And smelly.
When we confronted the man who came to fix the door he said very rudely that dont tell me all that tell at the reception.
It took time for the elcetrician to come and fix the door.
The next day we had a terrible experience at the restaurant
There were no plates but the front kitchen staffs hesitated to give us plates reserved for ommelettes only.
They kept saying plenty plates there.
Unfortunately there were not even small plates for us.
We had to go them 3 times to get a plate for breakfast.
The omelette was vry expensive $10fjd
We have been to so many resorts but this had worst service.

Honestly I didn't think resorts this cheesy existed outside of movies. Blasting loud terrible music at the pool all day with an annoying DJ constantly cutting in to list the day's activities. The activities made me cringe - the DJ will harass guests at the poolside into participating in silly competitions, line up to do terrible dancing, etc. So don't go if relaxing by the pool is your thing. But you can sit on your unit's porch and relax. The accommodation is okay. The bathrooms need a bit of maintenance but I've seen worse. The pool is pretty grungy with stuff growing on the tiles so we didn't go in. When we got there we were informed that none of the phones had been working for (seemingly) quite some time so if you wanted anything it was a trek to reception. We stayed for 4 nights but only ate there once - the restaurant is ugly, dim, opens onto the bar and pool. The breakfast we had was below average. Stale cereal and "full cream" milk that was watery. The breakfast buffet section was basically unmanned with just one staff member coming out to refill the coffee pot so if other guests make a mess of it then it stays that way. Luckily there are some resorts nearby with great restaurants.

The staff are really lovely though and if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have enjoyed my stay.

If you like expensive 80s style cruise ships you’ll love it here. Back to back activities all day long set to deafening and terrible Ibiza beats around the measly sized pool. There’s no escape from it. Staff do their best to meet the “brief” of smiling and always happy locals but it comes off as really sleazy and too intense. The ridiculous activities culminate in happy hour (another money grab to get us plastered on $28 - $35 FJD cocktails) and buffet style dinner or tacky cabaret performances each night.
20 sun recliners and 3 broken umbrellas in total set around a very badly and dangerously deteriorating pool. Tiles off everywhere (watch for the cuts as you get in and out) and green sludgy grout. Damaged and deserted outbuildings scattered across the grounds including a strange nice looking pool and spa facility that has been abandoned completely to ruin.
The accommodation here is really, really average . Ants, mosquitos, flies, again filthy grout and broken tiles. Broken taps and rusty spouts scream out for replacement. No telephones. No TVs. No wifi at ALL to any rooms.
All of this would be fine if this was a BUDGET resort but it isn’t. At a whopping $555 FJD per night the management should be completely ashamed. For that price you can expect and should demand better. Talk about price gouging!! The staff certainly don’t get rewarded for their efforts with most talking of $20 FJD per day pay packet and 6-7 days back to back work.
My son and I paid over $4000 AUD for 7 nights!!! … and we didn’t eat lunch, partake in the $50per head roast or buffet options (which were inedible according to our neighbours) or go on any paid activities at all (fire walking, tours are all expensive add ons). There were no kid friendly food options other than hot chips and awful chicken nuggets or burgers. Also no food available outside of set breakfast (ends at 9am!!) lunch or dinner.
The location is awful too. The resort is on the windiest peninsula I’ve ever encountered. The wind batters the shoreline day and night. The beach is laden in dead coral and the water is not swim friendly at all. Snorkeling was ok but lots of dead and damaged coral and a strong current and wind to contend with.
Do yourself a favour and go 20kms further south to the BeachHouse if you want beautiful budget accommodation and a kid friendly beach and atmosphere. Or pay the price tag and go to a better resort like Naviti or Momi.
I will never return to this awful resort and will be very vocal about their misleading marketing and cost exclusions! What a rort!!

Our family loved staying here
The view from our Bure was beautiful
The Gardens well maintained
The beach made for some amazing snorkeling on high tide right there in front of the resort
The pool was great to relax by on the pool chairs while the kids entertained themselves on the slide or joining in on the activities.
Everyday there was a huge list of activities you could join in on so giving you the options to do as little or as much as you like.

The location was good for us as most of the activities we wanted to do was within an hour drive and we could either get the local bus for $3 FJD each or get a taxi from the guys across the road. It is however a little far from Nadi so if you would like to do any activities up there just be mindful it’s at least an hour and half back that way.

The food and drinks were delicious
The breakfast was all ok. A normal buffet breakfast with also a cooked breakfast to order included
When I first looked at the night time menu I thought wow $39 for a meal but then realised it is in FJD if you put that back to AUD your getting a great deal for the amount of food that you receive and the taste …. delicious
Also the kids meal $7.50 FJD be prepared I don’t think any child would be able to finish it

And one definite is book your tours with Pou when you’re there. We first went to Pou and asked what she recommended for our family and she picked 3 amazing tours that suited our family of 5 perfectly ( 2 adults 2 teenage children and an 11 year old ). River tubing with village tour, ziplining with a cave to see, captain cook cruises to a beautiful island these three a must do

One last thing The Team at Hideaway really made the place a 5 star
They welcomed us as if we were family and could not do enough for us.
We arrived to a traditional welcome with one playing the Lali Fijian drum ( even with our arrival at midnight ) and a welcome refreshing tasty drink. The Fijian Drum was always played to either send you on your way for the day or welcome you home at the end of the day.
To Rosie ( reception ), Pou ( tour desk), Ima ( the shop ), Voli and team ( dining room ), Dan, Tash and the team ( activities) and many more (I just didn’t get all the names) the family and I Thankyou so much for making our holiday a memorable one xo

Bula It sounds like you had an amazing family holiday experience at the Fiji Hideaway Resort! From breathtaking views, well-maintained gardens, and fantastic activities for the kids, it truly seems like the perfect spot for a memorable vacation. The highlights you mentioned, such as snorkeling, the variety of tours, and the Fijian hospitality, make this place feel like a home away from home. The special attention from the staff—Pou, Rosie, Ima, Voli, and others—really adds that personal touch, making your stay even more special. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the delicious food, great value, and all the exciting activities available on-site. Thank you for sharing this heartwarming review—it’s clear the Fiji Hideaway team made your family holiday one to remember! 🌴😊 Vinaka

I have a mixed review on the Hideaway.
Most staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful.
Our bure was in the perfect location, right on the waters edge with amazing views. But yes dated but ok for the price. We had 2 interconnecting rooms, one of the rooms beds were uncomfortable and the A/C didn't work well.
Cocktails were different everytime, no consistency.
Food was terrible. After emailing prior to travel in regards to gluten free and told they catered for such I only ate breakfast twice. Cornflakes and fruit is not adequate in my eyes, apparently gluten free bread was unavailable. And nothing on the evening menu was listed as GF but could do a prawn stirfry, not a seafood fan. And too be honest I don't think it would be safe for a coeliac to eat here as normal bread etc were near the 2 open packets of gluten free cereal so contamination more than likely had occurred.
Unfortunately 3 of us became sick, along with other people also staying, we believe it was Noravirus. Can't say the staff were too concerned.
We also had a massage which was ok, lots of oil and they wore rubber gloves, not sure if that was a covid thing or not but made for an interesting massage.
Phones weren't working and no wifi in the rooms wasn't ideal when you were bed bound due to sickness.
I will return to Fiji but I'll be staying somewhere else.

Have been to the Hideaway twice before and has always been awesome. Change of management in the last 2 months and 3 lunch options and only 5 options each night. The 3 of the 5 being burgers and the worst quality. Totally inedible food. Each day we left and ate lunch and dinner at other resorts. When we attended the other resorts they made comments about the number of people coming from the Hideaway to eat there. One guest checked in at the Hideaway and left after a day and checked in elsewhere. Total joke of a resort now, one body wash for 2 people for 5 days. Was so dissatisfied after having such a great time before. To add insult the cost of the food that was there and given the quality was overpriced being the same cost as at the 5 star resorts. We went to other resorts in the area being higher grades and both cocktails were approx $10fj cheaper with happy hour making them even better value. We will not be returning and they have lost a customer for good. Heardthe same from many others with our neighbours next to us sharing a taxi with us to get decent food. Only saving grace was the beautiful Fijian staff they employee who were always happy to help when they could. Sorry Hideaway given you have just one restaurant and to then offer just 5 poor quality meals at night on replay just isn’t good enough. The free breakfast also has half the items it did before. Definitely better quality out there. Don’t waste your time going here, much better options available.
