The hostel is located right on the beach...though this beach isn’t particularly pretty. However, the hostel itself provides everything you need: private room in various styles and dorms, a travel agent, an ipen-air restaurant and bar, airport puck-ups and taxi services. All is well-organised and the staff is really friendly and helpful. At night it can be a bit loud as even locals visit the bar but earplugs solve that problem.
Food is delicious and the “breakfast bundle” for FJ$10 is absolutely recommended.

The hostel price is really good especially if you are traveling around and just need a place to crash. There is a long beach infront, great for a run. The restaurant is open all night incase you get the munchies, not the greatest food or menu but it works

Went to Bamboo Backpackers with family and friends for New Years 2020, it was an amazing experience, for a backpacker dorm, it’s really clean and something that I wasn’t expecting in an excellent way. At New Years it’s really busy and the fireworks and bonfire and party at the beach is awesome! The bar toilets just needed to be checked regularly which wasn’t cOs there were some people that were just being quite filthy and not cleaning up after themselves and the other was finding taxis to head to town, it was really difficult getting cabs out of there for a night out on New Years, it’s quite inside and far from all taxi routes unless if they choose to come over or if you call them to come, but no guarantee they’ll come to you directly. cOs there’s a lot I mean a lot of people on the streets on New Years, but apart from that it was an awesome experience! Wouldn’t mind going there again.

I wish I could give this a 5 star for service (Aggie, you are amazing)
But apart from this I felt a bit let down. Mostly because on the booking sites it falsely advertises the facilities the backpackers offer.
There was no free airport drop off or pick up, no organised activities, activities board or kava evenings. The wifi in our room was a 1/10 (on a good day) if you sat by the door and held your phone in the right position. The wifi was better down in the lobby but not all rooms have it. There is no bar, restaurant or kitchen at the accommodation. Also no pool table, ping pong table, volleyball net or other such entertainment at the hostel itself. Another niggle we had is that there was no room service. We had a private double room and so after 8 nights there we had about half the beach on the floor and also in our beds as an exfoliant. I know COVID has been tough for everyone, especially the tourist industry but the lack of activities that had been advertised online was disappointing.
The general facilities at the backpackers were pretty minimal too. There was no jug/kettle (RIP 2 minute noodles), no communal fridge, no utensils or bowls etc. the bathrooms were shared which was as advertised and were clean. However, there was only one shower to about 3 rooms so it was often taken and the water was cool which isn’t a problem in summer and all part of a backpackers.
From reading all the old reviews it sounds like this place was once a part of what is now the “beach club” which is the a seperate beach front bar and restaurant.
Essentially, this is a place to sleep and meet other travellers. I would give it a better rating if it was truely advertised as a place to sleep and adventure out from but felt a bit mislead that it was going to provide free airport transport, activities and a place to eat/drink.
The staff and people are great and the pool there is pretty nice for a dip too! Great location to the beach.
Bula baby!!

I arrived in Bamboo beach hostel on the 8th of February, but I actually slept in the sister hostel Blue water lodge (2 min walk from the reception). And I was welcomed very kindly. The stuff is amazing and very helpful. The 10 bed dorm room was nice and the facilities clean. I already booked 7 nights there but after the first night I happened to travel with a girl I just met and some of the stuff (Pa, Samu, Ana and Imeri) to another island. When I came back after a week they just let me stay in the same room without having to pay again. And during my whole island trip adventures the stuff members I mentioned above where helping us without asking for money. They were too kind to be true and together we spend a week in the sister hostel Maravu in Taviuni and a small island called Nanuku. It was the best time and they told us about their culture and showed us the local way to live. And although our way to get to the other island was a bit complicated (because the ferry was cancelled and we had to take an alternative route) they decided to stay with us the whole way, and were really friendly. Additionally if we had questions or any kind of request they were always there to help and guide us. In General it was just an amazing stay and I can definitely recommend it!

If your after all night fun and drinks well into the wee hours, then this is the place for you!! Many different accommodations are available from bunk rooms to your very own ensuite rooms. Spread over a few different streets, the workers on site are so stress-free and awesome. Willing to bend over backwards for you. Rooms could be a bit cleaner. Beds are not overly soft, plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from. All within walking distance.
Great day tour desk on site.

My friend Jose and I spent an indescribable last day in Bamboo Backpackers. Mateo, Kali and Pate made this last day a magical and unique day. We went fishing, surfing and to top it off, they prepared the fish for us to eat together as if we were one big family.
Thank you so much! 👌

We stayed here for our first and last night in Fiji - it's a cheap backpackers hostel but it's not low quality. Rooms and facilities were clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly - service for food (even at busy times) and drinks was very good. Local beer is pretty good. And it's right on the beach
Locals seem to come and play volleyball on the beach each evening which is fun to watch (too old to join in now!) and one of them climbed a palm tree to throw down some coconuts.

We booked a private room with air conditioning for 2 nights at the bamboo backpackers. To this day I’m still not sure whether where we stayed was actually the bamboo backpackers or a completely different premises which has acquired the listing and is feeding off the old positive reviews.
In short the issues were
* The room was not secure. What looks like the old position of the door had been replaced with a series of vertical louvres - of which the bottom 1/3rd were missing meaning anyone could unpick the fly screen and access our room.
* The wifi didnt work
* The shower didnt have any pressure
* The fan varied from settings of ‘not on’ to ‘tornado’
* The bed did not have a quilt
* We were only given one towel
* The bed was uncomfortable and a spring actually physically cut me to the point I still have a mark down my side at the time of writing this review.
* There was no pool at all despite this being advertised in the listing
* There was no communal kitchen, bar or common area despite this being advertised in the listing
* There were no activities as advertised in the listing - kava ceremonies, fire dancing, etc
* The booking office for tours was fairly minimal in its offerings
* There wasnt really any ability to interact with others given the lack of communal facilities (An important part of being at a backpackers).
Positive points were
* The air conditioning worked
* The staff at the check in were friendly
* The price was fairly cheap
After our stay we cancelled our subsequent booking and went elsewhere. I suspect the original bamboo backpackers has shut down and they have moved the business to this new premises, but without updating the profile. The new signage on where we stayed was called ‘bamboo travellers’ so this would support this theory. Had they advertised this new premises accurately we wouldn’t have stayed there.

Great people and great location! Lockers in rooms, aircon, comfortable mattresses, my dorm’s door only locked from the inside but regardless I still felt quite safe. Plenty of electrical sockets to charge devices. No kitchen so you need to eat out. Clean pool available. Showers and toilets are located outside, they’re not bad, but don’t expect anything fancy, sometimes you’ll go in and realise there’s no toilet paper for example but again not the worst thing in the world by any means. Very friendly and informative staff, who will help you organise trips and activities around Fiji. Very easy to socialise and meet people. This was a lovely hostel to stay at, it was clean and had a friendly atmosphere, and at the end of the day it’s a hostel not a hotel so you get what you pay for and I was very satisfied with my experience there.

I would think they would help you, they have a help centre there.
Most of the hostel provide little lockers. That you can lock with your own lock (so bring one with you). If they don't have lockers in the dorm, they have a safe behind reception where you can leave your valuables. I found that the fijians are really honest and friendly, so you should be fine.
Enjoy!!
Hey hi Cat,
I think there is something wrong.
I won't be at Fiji that time.
Sorry....
Enjoy the lovely island
