This property is a hidden gem. We booked two rooms for our family one on the ground floor and one on the second floor. Our second floor room had a lovely balcony where we stood at nighttime to star gaze! The rooms are very spacious and are furnished with a small table and two chairs for having a cup of coffee or light snack. The sink is conveniently located outside the bathroom so one can wash up while the other is showing or using the toilet. Our kids walked the property at night to star gaze without the hotel lights. The front desk staff are very helpful and even furnished oxygen when I needed relief from the altitude sickness. The hotel restaurant worked well for us since we did not feel like hiring a cab to search for a restaurant in the evenings. Breakfast was included each morning as well.

Rustic, quiet, clean, comfortable, accommodating.
We booked two nights in November, which turned into three nights because of a stoppage of trains and cars in the area. (Basically we had to wait until the strike was over to continue our trip.)
From our second floor room we had excellent views, and we found the grounds relaxing and peaceful. We found there was not too much to do, activities-wise, so we walked down to the Urubamba River and up around the little town, and one day we each got massages. I got the “relaxing massage” and it was great. We ate all our meals at the hotel restaurant because it had very fresh local food, with almost everything made in house.
Other reviews mention the service and I must agree it was absolutely stellar. From the front desk to the restaurant staff to the cleaning crew, everyone had a friendly attitude and did a wonderful job making us feel like special guests.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone!

Gorgeous hotel with a beautiful organic modern decor surrounded by stunning mountains and clear skies. Great buffet, friendly staff and a gorgeous room with a big comfortable bed that you will love coming home to after a long day of exploring.

We purchased a few alpaca blankets from the local artist that makes them right in the hotel property.. we wish we could’ve bought 5 more as they are so nicely done and well priced.

We did the couples massage which was ok but we were so happy and at peace In this serene environment that we didn’t mind it.

All things considered- Price, location, food, environment.. this place is a no brainer! Book it and stay here. Oh and buy Alpaca blankets.

The four of us stayed in two rooms over December. The hotel is spread out over several buildings in a very quiet location. Rooms were spacious and very airy. Food in the restaurant was good and included alpaca meat. We highly recommend it as a quiet place to relax prior to visiting Manchu Picchu. It is a 20 minute ride to the train station. It is 3 star but feels more like a resort.

Our family of four stayed one night in two rooms at the Tierra Viva in Urubamba at the beginning of March. The grounds are really nice. All of the plants were flowering and there were hummingbirds feeding all over the place. Also, the variety of plants is dizzying with so many colors and fragrances to ease your mind and relax your soul. The Sacred Valley is an incredibly beautiful place on Earth and Tierra Viva has created a truly captivating respite on a very busy tourist path (if you have two or three days to see multiple Incan sites). I highly recommend this hotel.

One thing I would like to mention is that the hotel is far from the town (which is excellent for the quiet and starry nights but not good if you want to go out to eat). They do have a restaurant which is good but not great. The prices for us were excellent and as a result, we were not disappointed. But, we had so many amazing meals in Lima and Cusco and even Aguas Calientes that it would have been nice to have an amazing meal at this amazing hotel. Nonetheless, I would absolutely stay here again, if given the chance.

This hotel was really a joy to stay at. it was peaceful, the staff was very friendly, and I felt like it had a lot to explore. As you arrive, you immediately notice that it is beautifully spaced out, and that each room has ample natural lighting. As I wondered around, I noticed that they had a sign describing different activities that you could ask them for: set up a fire pit, make an offering to Pachamama, the spa, games in the lobby, etc. I’m sad that we were there too late to enjoy these options. The breakfast spread was huge, and included some local in season fruits that I have never come across before. The restaurant staff was quite friendly, too. Upon request they met some special dietary needs that we had. My kid felt safe wandering around the area by themselves for a bit.

I travelled to Peru with a group of 8 Canadian women in Oct-Nov 2022. We stayed in a total of four places as we worked our way inland and uphill, then returned to them on the way back down. So we got to stay here twice. On the first stopover, there was a minor windstorm blowing in the trees, and the sound was so soothing after the noise of Cusco. There was some thunder and lightening, a very brief rain, and then silence again.

The rooms are in blocks, with 4 down and 4 up. Each room is huge with sliding doors to a small patio or deck. The stone walkways to and from the main lobby, the restaurant and our rooms were well marked. The landscaping was very pleasant. There was birdsong in the mornings....

The staff were wonderful. The breakfast buffet had a good assortment of hot and cold options, with several fresh fruit juices to choose from. We had 2 suppers in the restaurant, and the food and service were both exceptional.

We were able to leave most of our luggage there and took backpacks only on the train to Aguas Calientes | Machu Picchu. We also left laundry to be done while we were away, and picked it up on our return.

The only issue we had was with the door locking mechanism, which was unlike anything we had come across before. It was one thing to be locked out of our rooms, but even more unnerving to be locked in!

I would stay there again in a heartbeat, if I ever have the chance to visit Peru and the Sacred Valley again.

I stayed at the beginning of the month in this beautiful hotel in Yanahuara, Sacred Valley. I would like to start witting this review by acknowledge the staff that work in the hotel. They are not only courteous and friendly but also knowledgeable. They recommended places to visit and help me with the transportation around the area. Specially thanks to Leticia (front desk, I think it is her name -sorry if not! but I lost the name of each of you :-( she helped me by booking the best spa massage in a holiday. Alejandra (restaurant) she is so courteous and attentive to the need of each guest. She makes the best pisco sour by the way! As I said before, I lost the name of the members of the staff , but all of them are wonderful and very professional!

The room was spotless! The bed was comfortable, clean linen and a balcony with a wonderful view. Even though, it is a small hotel, it provides everything you will need for a weekend gateway or if you wish to rest and disconnect from the city. The spa is small but it has a nice jacuzzi which it is only use by the person who book the slot which is amazing for your privacy and covid protocol.

The restaurant offers a limited menu for now, but probably in the upcoming months they will improve their menu. The buffet breakfast includes a variety of item for your selection.

I definitely will stay again in Tierra Viva -Valle Sagrado, 100 % recommended. Thanks to the staff for making my stay comfortable and memorable !

My wife, daughter and I just spent 3 days and 2 nights appreciating the breathtaking backdrops, exploring the Urubamba River valley, and completely relaxing at this beautiful hotel. The staff is charming and genuine, and the landscaping on the property is fantastic. The 2 baby alpacas walking around made the experience even better. We woke up each morning to a magical view and songbirds outside our deck, and enjoyed massages and private time in the lovely spa. I spent half a day rock climbing and zip lining (best I’ve ever done) at Via Ferrata and we stopped and had a fun experience on ATVs on the way out of the valley before returning to Cusco. We will be back to Tierra Viva, no question.

This is our second time staying at this Tierra Viva property and it is by far our favorite! This hotel is more like a lodge, has incredible views and the service is impeccable! Our rooms were beautiful and the breakfast was outstanding. This property is a very close cab ride to Urubamba and we loved the private setting. If we were going to stay anywhere for longer than a couple of nights, it would be here! We loved how helpful the staff was at arranging us rides to different sites and to other locations.

Hi! What type of outlets are in your guest rooms?
Answer from Pingutwo

Peru uses 220 volt electricity, so while the outlets LOOK like the standard North American 2 or three prong style, you will need to use a convertor, or check that your devices can cope with dual voltage.

While I cannot say 'exactly', I did see oxygen available in the lobby/reception areas of at least one hotel. Due to the altitude and varied needs of guests, I am pretty sure they all have O2. It did not seem to be charged for. Make sure you make liberal use of the Coca tea - very helpful. We used some oxygen sickness prevention medicine - Diamox. I think it helped, too.
