I led a Yoga in Peru group in Ollantaytambo and we ate a few times at El Aubergue including a special Thanksgiving buffet. Food was divine and the service fabulous, esp Jennifer (our wait person on 3 or 4 occasions). A treat place that deserves its great reputation. Also beautiful gardens and they sponsor an organic garden and local primary school!

Overall we liked this place a lot. Below are the plusses and minuses. Plus: 1. Location. ON the train station platform. Really convenient if you're taking train to Machu Picchu. 2. Food. The food is very fresh, local, and tasty. Five star. 3. Rooms. Rooms are rustic. Some with great views of mountains. Very clean. 4. Grounds. Nice garden. 5....

What I mean by good hardware is that the infrastructure is fine. The rooms are nice and clean and the restaurant good. The garden is really nice. It is a pleasant place to stay. What I mean by poor software is that the delivery of service is very bad. In terms of location, it is at the train station which...

Not only was this a lovely place to stay- great location, easy access to town, the train and Machu Picchu, and excellent food- they also have a 30-minute rustic eucalyptus sauna that was very relaxing and satisfying for a weary traveler. Their staff were EXTREMELY helpful in attempting to locate my lost iphone in a cab en route to their...

You just can’t beat the excellent location of El Alberque to the train that takes you to Machu Picchu. This location is right on the railroad station, we were able to take the earliest train, 6:10 a.m. to arrive in Aguas Calientes at 7:40 a.m. They provided us with breakfast to eat on the train. The charm of El Alberque:...

What a wonderful find aftera strenuous and dusty day of hiking and climbing the ruins. At first I was a bit concerned about the proximity to the trains, but there was no noise or disturbance. And to get up early in the morning and walk down stairs and on to the platform was a treat. 3 minutes from room to...

The staff at the hotel were very helpful and welcoming. The restaurant served excellent food, fresh made pasta, and good service. The room was nice, comfortable beds, and nice bathroom with consistent hot water. The grounds were very pretty and it was a relaxing setting. We were happy we found El Abergue and would stay there again.

We stayed here 1 night before going to Macchu Picchu. Great location right next to train station, good value, helpful staff and great restaurant. A bit noisy at night because next to train tracks but I found it bearable.

We picked the El Albergue due to it's convenient location on the way to Machu Picchu, but I was very impressed by the hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, their restaurant served some excellent fare (including a solid vegetarian menu), and they give tours of their onsite organic farm (which provides vegetables to the restaurant). If I had...

Although access is via the busy train station this place is very peaceful and beautiful. We had the only room with a window facing the railway tracks and still were hardly not disturbed. The garden is great and we had excellent dinner at the restaurant. A perfect place to relax a bit after climbing and walking around Machu Picchu and...
