Want to check out Cusco, but not be hassled by all the thousands of fellow travelers reveling in Machu Picchu magic? We found a space of modern serenity in Wayqey Hotel to decompress before our grand adventure to the ancient Incan Citadel. With nearly 350,000 residents in Cusco and thousands of tourists each day, this bustling city never lacks livelihood. The night life, ‘fiesta’ scene is ready and raring to go all 7 nights a week. But to get that much needed rest at the end of a long day exploring, or before heading to Machu Picchu, Wayqey was the perfect hotel!

Located less than 2km from the San Blas and historic districts, Wayqey is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Beautifully decorated, you can tell that the hotel's management has a degree in art. From the beautiful murals in the stairwell to the perfectly picked pieces in each room, there is always something beautiful to look at. The open design of the building along with the blue and white patterns give hints to a sea shore oasis in the mountains. The only thing to remind you it's not an oceanside getaway are the gorgeous views of the hills just outside the expansive room windows. If you’re up early, don't forget to check out the 7th floor lounge at sunrise as it features 180 degree views of the city, and even has a partial balcony! If you’re not an early riser, don’t worry, you can check out the sky room lounge during the included, and delectable breakfast. At night this area transforms into a lounge/bar complete with city lights for the perfect ambiance!

This modern upscale hotel has all the amenities we could have asked for! My favorite part is the firm yet giving king size mattress we had in our suite. The stand up shower was large and both water temperature and pressure were fantastic. If you travel enough in Peru, you will come to learn this a luxury not a given. Technology wise the internet is the fastest and most reliable that we have seen. Lots of conveniently placed outlets in the rooms keep all your gadgets juiced up and ready to go. In our suite we found a cozy living area complete with big screen tv. A mini kitchenette, including a microwave, utensils, water broiler, and fridge also come along with the upgrade!

The best part is when you do decide to get out and go explore the city, which is a must, you are only a 6-8 soles (2USD) cab ride from the main square! For us, this hotel provided comfort, luxury, quiet, delicious food, and all the amenities we needed!

The hotel is conveniently located to the airport (approximately 10 min drive), and 10-15 minutes to the center of Cusco. For a 4-star hotel, it offers a good price-value. The staff was very friendly and tried to accommodate all our wishes such as breakfast at 5 in the morning as we had to leave for Machu Picchu.

My wife and I searched high and low for a good not decent hotel to stay in while visiting Cuzco and let me tell you it was difficult. It was either a good hotel that was way overpriced or a crappy hotel that charged too much. Wayqey was perfect in my opinion compared to what we saw on TripAdvisor and other hotel sights.

The room was small but it wasn’t an issue. I was happy they had a fridge, hot water, and that the room looked and felt clean. The bed is soft and comfortable and the rainfall shower head with a place to sit was a plus.

We ordered room service and they made us a chicken sandwich that was not on the menu but they had no problems making it and delivering it to the room.

My wife is ALWAYS cold so she called down to the front desk and they brought us a space heater that served it’s purpose.

The breakfast area was nice. They offered a spread of bread, jelly, mini pancakes with what looked like caramel, ham slices, Scrambled eggs, mini omelettes, cereal, fruit slices ( mango, honey dew, pineapple, and watermelon), 3 types of juices, milk, water, tea, and coffee. I think I missed like 2 or 3 more items but I can’t remember. I only ate the fruit and I just say they were good and sweet. My wife ate everything and said it was fine.

The only 2 “issues” I encountered were guys talking in the hallway at 230 am and the walls were paper thin so I could hear everything and the fact that they don’t have key card readers on the doors just actual keys. But they door have security cameras all over.

The staff is nice and all in All it was a good stay and I would return.

FYI sorry I had to take pics the following morning as I was too exhausted to take pics before jumping into the bed.

Staff at hotel Wayqey was great, I had altitude sickness when I arrived and they brought me medicine to my room. The hotel served breakfast with a view and it was close and accessible to the square. Front desk gave us a map and everything, rooms were clean, staff was polite I do not have a single complain about my stay

Lovely... really! Beds are comfortable, plenty of hot water for showers, and the rooms are very spacious, well lit, and well appointed, food is good, and the staff is South American gracious.

I'll be back.

The hotel is far from the center so if you do not find a taxi (as it happened to us) you have to walk about 30 minutes through a neighborhood that at night is quite scary.
They gave us a tiny room where only one bed can fit, no table, chair or space to move around. The only available plug was an electric alarm clock located on one of the bedside tables. The window opened onto an interior patio of 1m2 with hardly any light, which increased the claustrophobia. We asked for a bigger room and they offered it for double the price so we decided to move to another hotel even losing the nights we had booked.
We have traveled a lot and we have stayed in all kinds of hotels and it is the first time that such a thing happens to us. In no case is it a four-star hotel, and in our opinion it only has one qualifier: deceit

Room was clean and comfortable. It was 5 soles to the center of town. Much quieter than if you were to stay near the center of town because of all the cars constantly honking their horns. Staff was great!
Everyone always had a smile on their faces.
Thanks,
Willy

The Hotel staff are very friendly, but brush up on your spanish are you will find it difficult to communicate. The room was very large& well laid out, bath was small and had problem waiting for the water to get hot to take a shower. There is a great view of the montains from the front windows but the front area rooms let in too much light to sleep, and the noise off the street. This Hotel is not in the tourist district but still easy to get around using taxi. We did a trade with Interval and it was a good choice. If you are only going for a few days suggest getting a hotel in the Plaza de Armas area.

First we were welcomed with coco leaf tea. Then they let us check in early and our room was massive. It’s only a short walk into the city centre and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

This place is quite a way off the beaten path. Not even the taxi drivers could find it. ALWAYS take one of their maps with you so you can point the hotel out to the taxi driver. It seemed like it hadn’t been open long and they didn’t quite have their act together. I agree with the person that said to brush up on their Spanish. I guess I got a different room than everybody else. More like a broom closet. Twin beds (MAYBE double beds) and a night stand and that was it. No dresser. No drawers to put clothes on or in. Nothing. They did have one small pole to hang a few things on. The bathroom had kind of a musty funk going on. They also provided us one tiny bar of soap and one roll of toilet paper for our 6 night stay.

We tried to have lunch at the restaurant for lunch only to find out they didn’t serve any sandwiches at lunch. Did have dinner one night. Spaghetti wasn’t awful. The grilled chicken sandwich was OK but the fries were completely raw. Had a buffet breakfast on the 7th floor (which has a nice view) the first day we got there and it wasn’t too bad. Tried again later in the week but nobody was there. I think we may have been the only people in the hotel by that point.

Finally, and most annoyingly we were on the 4th floor and there was an atrium/airshaft that ran up by the one window we had (so the only view we had was the bedroom window of the next room 10 feet away - but that wasn’t the annoying bit) and the very loud pan flute versions of terrible 80’s pop songs from the restaurant pounded us day and night. Very painful.

It was clean and seemed new. Perhaps they will get their act together soon. They need to.
