Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

If you’re coming to Cusco you must stay here. The location is amazing. You’re right in the middle of everything! Plenty of food options, cute shops. But don’t let that scare you because we had a very quiet, cozy, sleep. Cusco is cold, but the blankets she provided made us feel super cozy in bed. Elena is the kindest woman I’ve ever met. She took us in like family.

I would recommend staying here to anyone. The breakfast was also delicious. She made us fresh egg, bread, coffee and a traditional cereal with Yogurt. I loved it here and I’m sad to be leaving. But I know when I come back, staying here will be my first choice.

Also their English is amazing if you don’t speak any Spanish.

The best place to stay in Cusco considering price and comfort. Run by a local host and her husband, this house is rather a home than a hotel. The hosts always give good advice and have all the contacts you need to enjoy your time in the city as much as possible. Rooms are neat and have great light. Bathrooms are impeccable and comfortable. Breakfast is solid and the service is friendly. Oh and the small library they have is fantastic!!
I will always come back here.

Excellent hotel, the owners offered great service. The lady of the house prepares fresh eggs on demand for breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is awesome, 5 minutes walk to everything. Ideal hotel for visiting Cusco and surroundings.

We were freezing 2 nights out of 3. Only positive about this stay was good location and decent breakfast. Shower gel wasn’t refilled in our bathroom after we had to change our room twice.
Owners had issues providing us with hot water for our tea/coffee after we used up 1 thermos between the 2 of us. Absolutely ridiculous!
Would never stay here again nor recommend anyone to stay here honestly unless you don’t mind freezing to icicle.

A perfect place to stay while you are in Cuzco and visit the wonderful touristic sites.
Great service, friendly staff, very professional coordinating all tours including pickups and drop-offs; close to the Plaza de Armas and amazing restaurants.

I lwill definitely come back soon.

A charming, bed-and-breakfast type hotel in a great location in the old center of Cusco. Very convenient and close to the main plaza and all related sites and restaurants.

A local friend recommended this to our group. Elena was very nice and responsive throughout the reservation process and the stay. She welcomed us with coca tea to relax, and she arranged our tour of Macchu Picchu and also arranged transportation to and from the airport. She also trusted us enough to purchase the tickets ahead of time even though we were unable to pay her back until we arrived. She's awesome.

The rooms have free breakfast, and free wifi, although beware it is very spotty (probably common in Cusco). As for heat - some rooms are warm, some freezing cold at night, if they have big windows exposed to the outside. For those rooms, an extra space heater at 20 soles/night is recommended. I had intermittent hot water pressure in the shower.

Overall, a great hotel for the value. Enjoy your stay in Cusco!

I have previously stayed in Casa Elena a couple of times and find its location is very good and place has charm.

On this occasion, however, I was asked to pay for two nights reservation by bank transfer in advance of my visit from Lima. ok no problem.

Then when we arrived last night from the Sacred Valley we were told that our room had a water problem and we would be put in another hotel nearby instead. the other hotel was not as nice, the room small, and yet we would be charged the same rate as Casa Elena. we complained but no better solution was offered

The result was that we had to look for a new hotel during our last night in Cusco.

Casa Elena was our "home" base for 6 nights while on a 2 week trip to Peru. Our stay was in the beginning of the trip for two nights, a night in the middle and three nights at the end of the trip.

Casa Elena is a warm and friendly establishment and Elena and Yves treat their guests like family. The hotel is in the hart of Cusco and is close to many sights and eating establishments.

As a bonus, Elena knows what to see and the best way to get there. She made our reservations for hotels and activities when we were exploring areas around Cusco, Machu Picchu and further south in Puno and Arequipa. The places she found for us to stay were awesome.

I will be returning to Peru to explore more areas and I will be staying at Casa Elena while in Cusco.

I was at Casa Elena 2 weeks ago, the hotel is good, very centric, breakfast excellent and people nice.
However I would not recommend people to book their treks with them unless it is Yves Chemin guiding. He is good. The trek we booked via them was with KB adventures who provided us with a fake guide for the Choquequirao trek : he was nice and speaking a good english, that's all the positive points. Now he had no clue on security neither on paying attention to us and making sure we were feeling good (one of us was really bad on 3rd day walking under the sun, she asked him for help, he didn't help her!), and his explanations on the site, culture & country were ridiculous, a teenager after reading 4-5 books would have done the same. He even told us that doing this trek was a punishment for him!!!!!!
