We had reservation and the bus dropped us off. Once inside the gate it was very serene and quiet. A very well laid out hotel complex with the pool and hot tub at the back of the hotel. Once they sorted out the rooms then we went to have a look. The room was nicely laid out. The bathroom was very clean. Then dinner was available after 7pm so we went to find the restaurant. Upstairs in the restaurant it was very nice. They had Inca musicians playing and it was very nice. They dinner came from a menu but it seemed like they were cooking 2 meals at a time. It took almost an hour to get the food. We think maybe a new cook or something but it was like that every meal. All in all it was very nice though.

We stayed here as part of our Charity Challenge trek to Machu Picchu for our first 2 nights and last night in Peru.

The hotel is nice with very friendly and helpful staff, however, the hotel is in a very poor part of Cusco and it is not recommended to be walking around on your own. One night when we arrived back to hotel the police were outside due to locals fighting outside with each other.

Not close to the plaza which is about 30-45 minute walk, whereas, a taxi costs 5 soles (around £1) to the main plaza.

Rooms:

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and in good condition which is surprising considering the location. There is Free Wifi in the rooms and satellite tv which has a wide variety of channels in English and other languages.

There is a storage room to store extra baggage when heading to Machu Picchu and will be placed back in your room on your return.

Recommended hotel for expeditions and travellers.

We stayed at the location in Urubamba. What an amazing experience since the arrival. We were driving all the day and had arrived to the hotel after midnight the team were waiting for us and after that all was a pleasurable stay headed by Tomasa Martinez Abal and team. Wonderful hotel with beautiful gardens, small pool and few cardio machines.
The hotel is close to the Urubamba train station so you just take a "moot taxi" and there you are ready to Machu Picchu.
Amazing experience. Definitely a good economic option in Urubamba.

Cramped, cold, windowless room. Inadequate furniture for anyone in Peru for more than a night or two. Intermittent shower. Blankets which don't fit the bed. No drinking water. 30 minute walk through a run-down part of town in order to get to the centre of Cusco which is, after all, why you are there.
Breakfast ok.
Advice: pay a few dollars more and stay somewhere you'll be glad to be.

Great hotel even though power went out one night and morning. Hotel refused our "paid voucher" from our travel agent so we had to pay again or they were going to block our passports. We also had to pay twice for our airline from Cusco to Lima as our tour company Rainbow Tours and Traveland did not pay that airfaire either. Don't use Rainbow Tours, Peru or let your travel agent sub-book with Rainbow Tours as they just dumped on us when Traveland gave them a problem. The Tourist Police said they would arrest the owner of Rainbow Tours if someone was willing to stay for 2 or 3 days and finish the paperwork. We all decided to get out while we could. Also, our travel insurance company Access America which we got through AAA is giving us a difficult time about paying for the claim. I'll keep you posted about Access America and AAA.

It all started well with a cheerful welcome in reception but then went downhill pretty quickly. The room we were given was a single size with a double bed shoe horned in, and whilst it had a window this looked out onto some sort of service shaft so there was no natural light at all and it was freezing cold. I went down to reception and requested a change of room and the man on duty was very unfriendly. However when he saw that I was determined he reluctantly offered another room, but he practically threw the key at me! The second room was bigger and had a window looking over the front elevation but it was still very 'tired'. I think it's time they considered some updating as it looks like nothing has been changed for many years. On the day we checked out we had to sit in the reception area for some time as we were waiting for transport to the airport and it was so cold! The same man who changed the room for us was on duty and again he was surly and unfriendly and I noticed that as we were waiting for our lift he spent the whole time watching a film/tv programme on the computer. I am pretty sure that there are far better hotels in Cusco and would definitely not recommend this place.

The staff are very good. The breakfast is fairly basic but there is a great selection of exotic fruits and they start serving extremely early to accommodate people with early starts. The rooms can be cold and the space heater can take awhile to heat up the room. I stay at one room before going to Machu Picchu and another room after. The second room was more comfortable than the first, which may explain why some people like the hotel more than others. The free WiFi is convenient in the room but where you put your computer can affect the speed. It is true you hear street noise early in the morning but that is not the hotel's fault. If you want more comfort and sound proofing, you have to pay a lot more to stay at a five start hotel. All in all, I got what I paid for and it was fine.

Rooms were very nice. Heat was a little off, as the electric heater didn’t work too well. Dinner was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Took what was a decently bad day and made it much better. Would return in a heartbeat!

This small hotel in Cusco is very economic. You would need a taxi ride to get to Plaza de Armas, but is not that far.

A cross the street, there is a Chinese restaurant and a small market.
They have free breakfast on the top floor and free wifi.

The hotel had great service and the desk attendants were helpful.

I had a nice time in Cuzco, the hotel Mabey was excellent, the neighborhood was ok. I could see lots of cops in the area, very safe, I went in and out of the hotel and I just can't complaint, is not too far from the main plaza (taxi fare is about $4.00 soles = US $1.50)..One good experience is that I went around the block to have lunch and I paid $14.00 soles (US $ 5.00). When I went to the main plaza I paid $38.00 soles (US$13.80) same dish, same size. a little Spanish helps a lot!! if you plan to spend some time in Cuzco, you need to communicate, is a must...take a Spanish/English dictionary with you, don't underestimate the culture...
