My family stayed there 3 nights. Excellent location. We had a very spacious Chichen Itza room with large windows. Clean and good bathroom. Comfortable beds.
Common space was very nice to spend time in when it was raining. Access to a common kitchen was a big plus.
Breakfast was basic local but good.
They were actually brewing coffee which is not common in Peru.
Staff were very helpful and nice.

attention all travelers to cusco...while there are surely more upscale places to stay in cusco, you cant beat los aticos (there are two; we stayed at the one on quera) for the price. trust me when i say that staying at los aticos is money well spent.
The Good:
1. the hostal is located in an alley which makes it a very quiet place to stay with absolutely no street noise.if you stayed in lima you may know how annoying that could be.
2. the plaza de armas, the office where you buy the "boleto turistico", the centro artesanal and the train station to machu picchu are all within a short walking distance. there are also many pharmacies and restaurants nearby. f.y.i: there is a chinese restaurant or chifa next to the entrance of the alley. i highly recommend it!
3. the staff are very helpful, kind and well organized. if you need a wake up call or taxi they write it down on a large board in the lobby so that the workers of the next shift can't possibly miss it. The tours we booked through the hotel (the city tour and the full day sacred valley tour; sacred valley was much better but do both) were great.
4. free coca tea and breakfast ( the breakfast is the typical so so bread , jam and coffee hostal breakfast) .
5. very clean rooms, clean sheets, good hot water. you also get a safe in your room. i didnt take any pics of the hostal but trust me when i say that the rooms were very nice.
6. the hostal is located in an area that looked and felt safe. this may not be the case with some other places i read about while researching my trip.

The Not So Good:
1. there is no central heat so the rooms are quite cold. this is especially uncomfortable when exiting the shower. however, they give you warm blankets so you still sleep comfortably.
2. our room overlooked the kitchen/dining area so we got some noise from the people having breakfast very early in the morning. im just being picky here...the noise didnt really affect me but it did annoy my girlfriend a bit...remember, people have different tolerances for noise level. still, you can clearly hear people going down the stairs or chatting in the kitchen.
3. non-spanish speaking people might have a problem communicating with the staff. im hispanic so it wasnt a problem for me but it might pose a problem for some people.

So there you go fellow travelers...Ios aticos is a place i would highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean, safe, and hospitable place to stay in cusco. i look forward to returning to cusco soon and i must say that los aticos will definitely be in my plans. enjoy cusco and all it has to offer!!

Great location; less noisy than properties on main streets, and convenient to walk to main squares. We had a family room which was huge. Breakfast consisted of dry bread rolls with optional ham and cheese. DO NOT pay with credit card - the management attempted to photocopy both sides of my card.

We stayed in the hostal before and after doing the Inca Trail. The rooms are decent, clean and with great bathrooms (although nothing more than you would expect at the price - US$35 / night for a double room) but the hostal is very noisy. It is more like student accommodation with a few tourist rooms tacked on than primarily a hostal and throughout the night we could hear students shouting, and then other guests having breakfast from 5am.

We had to return after doing the Inca Trail and this is when it got worse. After going out for dinner on the day we returned we got back to the hostal to find the lock on our door had broken with all our gear inside our room. We were given another room and told the problem would be fixed in the morning, leaving us with only the clothes we were wearing. The next day a new staff member was on duty, who didn´t know about the problem and who was very rude. He tried to charge us full price for the room, claiming it was our problem. We left immediately, only able to negotiate a small discount after we insisted the owner was contacted.

Staff here are unprofessional and incapable of dealing with problems. All hotels will have problems, it is how they deal with them that marks out the good places. Los Aticos is noisy, not good value, with staff who will annoy you. Avoid!

Yea,yea, yea. You travel to Cusco Peru and the hostel isn't up to your Hyatt Regency standards!

We went to Cusco to enjoy the culture. Los Áticos was clean, quiet and had the best service staff I've Ever had. It's down a very quiet (and safe) alley. You are within minutos of the Plaza De Armas and all the Main markets.

It is Quaint, friendly, and Fun. If You want the whole feel of Cusco, this is your place.

This hotel / hostel was booked as part of a package and is located in the old section of Cusco, about 2 blocks from the Plaza de Armas. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms large. I did find the hotel a little noisy with wooded floors I could hear all the movement of the people in the floor above me. Breakfast was basic but adequate . Wifi is free and average speed. There is a luggage store but on retrieving my bags I found that my zip strings had been removed, which was a little strange and annoying. There are in room heaters as it was rather cool at nights but there is ample bedding. Water pressure tended to be a little low and the bathroom facilities not well finished with leaking shower and basin, but it is a medium to low range hotel so to be expected. All in all ok for the price.

We spent 3 nights there. The place is very central (10 minutes walk from the city main square) and was easy to find, roughly 10-15 minutes by taxi from the airport. The front desk was friendly and we checked in quickly. The rooms are quite dated, but are OK. It is clean and comfortable. The building construction is not great and it is easy to hear sound from other rooms, nothing horrible though, but sometimes it is not that pleasant. The breakfast is very simple but it is acceptable. It is not that cheap for Peruvian standards, for the service provided, but, overall, it was good. Some people from the staff were super friendly. Overall good experience. Not one of those hotels you would like to spend daytime in, but, if you just need a place to sleep and shower it is a good option.

With a distance of about two-three blocks from the Plaza de Armas, Los Aticos has a great location. Additionally, of the three Cusco hotels we stayed in, the Los Aticos customer service was by far the most genuine and helpful. But because this is a value-oriented accommodations, the cleanliness isn't great. For example, the burgundy-colored toilet and sink had a very visible white film. Still, we stayed here three nights because of the hotel's affordability, central location, and great customer service.

We spent 5 nights here,,,,2 before Machu Picchu and 3 after. The staff, and especially Edgar at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. The beds were so comfortable with nice warm blankets for the chilly Cusco nights. Great hot water and good pressure. The breakfast was basic, but good. Located just a few blocks from Plaza de Armas, this is a great location and we would recommend you stay here!

We ended up staying here based on reviews online and I don't think they were honest. This is definitely a hostel with closed rooms. It's next to all the other hostels in town and it is basically one except it has separate rooms instead of dorm style. We were there in winter for them and it was very cold. We had to sleep with long sleeves, pants and socks and still weren't comfortable. Plus the window in the room went to the rest of the place and it was very loud early in the morning and late at night. It wouldn't be bad if it weren't billed as a hotel but it should also be closer in price to a hostel. I wouldn't recommend staying here. There's nicer hostels and you can get an actual hotel for a bit more. We stayed in a hotel on our way back from Machu Picchu and were much happier. That said, it was clean and it is very close to the town square.

What are transportation to and from airport? Bus estacion?
Answer from igorek

The hotel should provide a free OW transportation to/from the airport - check your reservation details. Otherwise, it is 10 soles fixed by city taxi fare. From the bus station it should be 6-8 soles (negotiable).
