Great hotel. Their staff were very helpful. We stayed there only for 1 night and checked out in the morning. We went back there to pickup our bags after a very long hike to rainbow mountain and they let us use one of the rooms to take a shower and change. I never experienced it at any other hotel. Katie was very nice and professional.

The cleanliness of the hotel, the quality of the food and drink, and the welcoming and hospitable staff cannot be beat! From the moment we walked in the lobby, we were greeted by Milagro and Ameriko, who made us feel welcome, and who graced us with first-rate hospitality every day. Soon after our arrival we met Isaiah and Fidel in the restaurant and bar; they, too, were eager to please, whether it was for lunch, dinner, or a pisco sour happy hour. Later in the day we met Susan, the manager, who warmly greeted us and made us feel right at home. Within six hours of our arrival we knew names and faces of so many key staff members, and they knew us!

This was our first trip to Peru and, unfortunately, we only planned for two nights in Cusco. When we return to Peru, we will plan a much longer stay in Cusco, and we will definitely spend all of our nights at the Royal Inka 1.

I enjoyed my two night stay at the Royal Inka. Location is great. Staff were very friendly - Milagros and Mario were especially helpful during the five hours after my checkout and before my pickup for the airport. Room was comfortable and reasonably sized and, importantly, the heater worked. Breakfast was good. I did not eat lunch or dinner there.

Conveniently located in the heart of Cusco we had high hopes when we entered this historic hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering is tea for the altitude in front of the log fire.

However, this is a basic, old and not well kept premises. The beds were rock hard, the pillows solid lumps of granite and everything looked worn out. The room was clean but really in need of a make over. No refrigerator, no tea or coffee facilities, noisy wooden floors and light coming through the inadequate curtains on the large window facing the indoor courtyard. I already was struggling with poor sleep due to the altitude and I slept badly.

Breakfast was basic but freshly made and the coffee was decent. Unfortunately our tours left early in the morning so we didn’t get to enjoy it for 2 of the 3 days we stayed there. The staff obliged by providing a boxed breakfast which was appreciated. In fact, the staff, especially the concierge were helpful and generous with their efforts.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The location can't be beat. The hotel is old, but it grew on us after staying there for a few days. The positives:1) great location - u are next door to everything. 2) shower is strong and hot, although the temperature may fluctuate a bit. (I rather they have hot water than no hot water). 3) you can ask the reception for a hair dryer, and this hair dryer is strong (vs in most hotels, the hair dryer doesn't dry anything). 4) the staff try to please. 5) Breakfast has make to order omelett. 5) Toilet flushes well. So I think this hotel has all the basics that u need.

this is a quaint hotel located on a peaceful square just a block from the Plaza de Armas. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the friendly staff and escorted to the inner courtyard for a cup of coca tea (available complimentary at all times) at your own bistro table. In looking around at the many plants and stone fountain in the courtyard, you get the feeling that you have arrived in Peru during the colonial times. The rooms are small, but comfortable, many having views of the surrounding streets. Please be warned that the street noise can be loud during the evenings. One night, I had to request a different room away from the street. All lead out to the courtyard, where one can enjoy reading a book or writing in a journal to the sound of trickling water. A complimentary breakfast is offered in the restaurant, which had many choices to satisfy different palates. A complimentary airport transfer with an english speaking guide is available if you inform the hotel of the details of your arrival. One can also easily arrange tours of any kind at the hotel. The prices are best when you book on the website, -----.

Stayed in Cuzco as base for touring. Hotel well located near central Plaza - has neat interior courtyard - stayed in a great room with stairs going up to bedroom level and a balcony with a view of a park and the beautiful buildings of the central square. Good breakfast, courteous helpful staff - free airport transfers.

As a flight attendant, I stay in hotels all over the world, from 5-star luxuries down to flea traps. My favorite are always quaint finds (and the odd 5 star luxury with great pools).

The Royal Inka I definitely fits my idea of a great find.

Right by all of the "action", this hotel is off the main drag enough to offer some tranquility. The hotel is lovely - built on a very old building, with an inside garden.

The staff is fabulous - especially the wonderful gentleman who serves you breakfast! You feel welcome and valued. There is a variety of rooms, though. My 8 year old and I shared a charming room with balcony, my father had a very nice room, but no windows. (yes, "building code" in Peru isn't the same as the States. Though it was quiet... Breakfast is included and is adequate. All in all, I would stay there again without question. Who needs to spend $350 in Cusco? We spent $55/night on a fabulous room with plenty of charm.

My wife and I stayed here the week of Dec.11 thru Dec.18. First the location. Literally close to everything, only 1 block from the Plaza de Armas, the main square in Cuzco. Also directly in front of the hotel is a small, pretty little park.
Second, the hotel itself. They told us when we booked it that a buffet breakfast was included....we did not expect more than a few cold items. We were so wrong.....an excellent hot breakfast with great variety and an awesome omelette station. The lunch and dinner menu is simple but excellent with great sandwiches and appetizers, although we only ate there maybe 5 times, but all meals were excellent. When booked thru the website, airport transfers are also included, great service. The rooms we stayed in were in there brand new wing, with 30 new rooms, which were really nice, extremely clean, plenty of hot water and surrounded a beautiful courtyard, also great bathrooms. I peeked into thier "older" rooms and they were small and simple, but looked very clean. I was told that renovations on those rooms were beginning in 2007.
When you go on tours, Royal Inka Tours offered all the standard tours such as the Cuzco City Tour, the Sacred Valley Tour and of course the Machu Picchu Tour. I declined and tried to book everything on my own. BIG MISTAKE. First it is almost impossible to get anyone on the phone and if you do they barely speak English. Most do not accept credit cards, so you have no protection. I tried to book tours while I was down there and what you are promised is not what you get. Thank goodness I only booked the Cuzco City Tour....what a disaster.....the pick up was late, the tour was with a barely English speaking guide who barely could care if we were happy or not. When I got back to Royal Inka some other guests were also arriving from thier City Tour and looked really happy with thier tour and guide. I asked them where they booked it and of course they said with Royal Inka Tours at the same time they booked thier room. I immediately booked the Sacred Valley tour and Machu Picchu tour with Royal Inka and everything they promised was delivered and more, plus I could put everything on my credit card.
The Staff. One of the most genuine, helpful staffs I ever encountered. I have traveled to many great destinations and am convinced this staff could work in any of them. All speak English(plus several other languages) and all are very knowledgeable of the surrounding area, including restaurants and nightlife. I tipped them a couple of dollars here and there and it makes a HUGE difference, plus they deserve it.
I should also mention that Royal Inka has a great bar area with an incredible happy hour from 6PM to 8PM with 2 for 1 cocktails. Needless to say it is a great crowd every night and a great place to share stories with travelers from all over the U.S. Europe and Asia. Met great new friends.
All in all it was a great trip with great tours, beautiful history and an excellent hotel with awesome services. I highly recommend it.

They do but you will likely not need it, as Cusco is quite high up in the Andes, and therefore quite cool, particularly at night.
