If you want a central location with great access to the city of Cusco, Hotel Plaza de Aramas will fill that request. Located on the southwest corner of the Plaza de Armas, this hotel puts you directly in the active center of Cusco. The staff are more than polite and helpful. When we had early expedition departures, they provided a sack lunch and even stood by to ensure all was safe when we waited for our rides at 0300 in the morning. The rooms were quaint and clean. Our room was off the street and it was wonderful as we did not have to contend with any possible traffic or noise from the Plaza activities. There is a fabulous little restaurant on the second level, that is always full with either hotel patrons or guests from the community. They were more than gracious in allowing us to store our luggage for 4 days while we hiked the Inca Trail. The price is also right with breakfast included with most rooms. I highly recommend this hotel due to location and the great service they provide.

We stayed here for three days. It is in an old building in the main square. Depending on the room that perhaps overlook the main square or the main street, I think there are interior rooms that you cannot see. The building is old, could use some work, but the staff was very helpful and the location could not be better.

Loved the location of the hotel, the staff were very helpful with booking our covid tests, our transfer to the airport and also hiring a driver to take us to multiple ruin locations. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and surprisingly we didn’t hear a lot of road noise at night. The restaurant wasn’t what i was expecting though. The view was amazing and we sat on the balcony every day, but the included breakfast was subpar. The eggs were runny and cold, the waffles were cold. No toaster to make toast. The highlight for me were the cups of fresh fruit. We had one late evening meal here, their pizzettes, mini pizzas. They were just an excessive amount of cheese on a small piece of crust; filling but not great. The best thing we had was a piece of chocolate cake, sooo good!

This hotel is right in the middle of everything. Short walk to good coffee, good bakery, and Kusykay. The large mercado is about a 10-minute walk. The rooms are pretty basic but isolated from the 24/7 happening plaza across the street. We got good sleep both nights. It's a small hotel, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The second floor has a restaurant that serves tasty food in very large portions. The breakfast buffet is good if not luxurious, but it's easy to get full here.

The fourth floor has a stairway leading to the rooftop, and views across the street of Plaza de Armas. (see attached photo).

The free airport shuttle works like this: they book a taxi for you, it's a flat fare of 15 soles to the airport, and they give you 20 soles when the driver arrives (so you have 5 for a tip). Clever!

Free coca leaves in the lobby in case the altitude is getting to you.

Fantastic location in the centre of Cusco. Very helpful staff. Nice restaurant overlooking the main square with good food. Perfect spot to enjoy a quiet beer above the hustle bustle of the street below. Request a room at the back if you’re bothered by the continuous car honking.

Great hotel with a balcony overlooking the plaza de armas, great breakfast and a wonderful view from the hustle and bustle from the city, great rooms in the inner area if you don’t want a view or noise. The service was excellent and the concierge superb. Safe and very clean with wonderful natural solid shampoo and conditioner to die for. Very environmentally oriented thank you from Yolanda Simon

My wife and I used this hotel as a Base while exploring Cuzco and the Sacred Valley Area staying for 7 nights May 14th-21st 2018

The Good:

- Perfect location - sitting right on the Plaza da Armas the hotel is few minute walking distance from countless bars and eating options - we really liked Morena for food and Republica Del Pisco for drinks which are less than 5 min walk away.

- Best money exchange rate places adjacent to hotel the rate was far better than in Lima

- friendly reception staff - Notably Elisabeth was very helpful in arranging a driver to take us to the sacred valley sites. Ollantataytambo and Pisac are 45-1hr depending on traffic from the hotel. They arrange that you have the same driver throughout the trip which allows some continuity which we liked. Our driver was very helpful.

What could be improved/things to be aware of:

- The old nature of the building means that there is no air conditioning so it can feel abit stuffy and damp in room

- On weekends there the Plaza was very crowded with processions and so it is better to get room facing the other side as I thick it could get noisy. Similarly on weekends the road near to the hotel is pedestrianised so taxis cannot get immediately outside the hotel which maybe an issue for people with mobility problems (was fine for us however).

- The breakfast was abit disappointing for a 4 star hotel, it was more like a 3 star. The breakfast is served in the balcony restaurant which is also open for non hotel guests to purchase from an al a carte type menu. Interestingly the al a carte menu for non hotel guests seemed a lot better that what was served as part of breakfast for the hotel guests. The staff at breakfast were also not very attentive and on several occasions during the stay did not replace clean cutlery in the relevant sections so it became tiresome to continuously have to ask and wait for a clean spoon or fork etc

- The rooms themselves are ok and clean but our bathroom was looking quite tired and the lighting was very dark so this coupled with the dampness was not great. We felt the bathrooms need updating with brighter lightening to make more welcoming.

- the hot water in the shower was not very consistent and sometimes be just luke warm

- the wifi was very slow. 3G was actually faster

All in all this is a very good place to stay, as apart from the bathroom and breakfast service, we spent most of our time outside exploring so for that purpose this hotels location makes up for the negatives.

Although my group and I were not staying there, we decided to grab some dinner at the cafe/restaurant on new years eve. It was early and we got to sit on the little balconies overlooking the plaza. The food was bland, cold, expensive and in small portions. As we were having coffee, the waitress comes over and tells us we have to leave, they're only serving people who are staying at the hotel. I figured they wanted the balcony for some of their guests, but as I pointed out to the waitressing staff in what almost became a screaming match, you don't throw out paying customers under false pretences just because they happen to be sitting on the table with the view.
Worst experience of our whole trip.

Staff friendly and professional, went out of their way to accommodate- held our luggage for two days while we went to Machu Picchu and back (without charge). Chose this hotel based on pictures of view from balcony to plaza, did not disappoint. We chose a suite and were both excited and impressed with the spacious, angular room. Loved eating on the balcony and soaking in all the sights of the square. (Rooms with limited views of plaza, did not matter to us). Breakfast buffet was clean and abundant. We chose to add on meal to room price, wasn't disappointed, high quality lunch, extremely reasonable for price, and convienient.

Really don't have a bad thing to write, I usually don't gush but this was our favorite hotel on our Peru stay, we were more impressed with the rooms and service than our stay at Sumaq in Aquas Clients (at less than half the price).

If I return to Cuzco, I will surely stay again, thanks! Great trip to Peru, proposed at the top of Huyana Picchu, she said yes!!

First the positives. The hotel is located on the main square in Cusco and so the location is good. Second, the showers are hot and water is plentiful. Now the negatives: we had a room over the street and there was a disco playing loud music all night. Dogs barked. To make matters worse, our room was over a very busy street and the honking rarely paused. There were mosquitos in our room. And when we had breakfast, my wife saw the waiter wash out the cups without soap. She tried to ignore the hair on the buffet table. We decided we couldn´t take it and checked out.
