This hotel is in a great location around the corner from the main Plaza. I stayed with a group tour. The staff were helpful, the beds are comfortable, the water was always hot in the shower and the rooms are clean. The electrics for the heater were a bit dodgy and required wiggling (in rubber shoes) to work. The hair dryer worked for 30 seconds. There is a buffet breakfast but you need to ask if you want scrambled eggs as they are not offered.
My room had a view over a service entrance and was dark but was quite spacious. It was very cold so I was delighted when the heater decided to work.

This was the hotel that Intrepid Travel had arranged as part of the Machu Picchu tour. When we arrived, the lobby looked fairly promising, service fine but not particularly warm.

Then we arrived in the room...firstly the door wasn't even locked and was wide open - good start. The room had no windows and was really dank. Went back down and asked for another room, this one was on the top floor and was slightly better, it had a window that looked directly onto a roof.

In the end we decided to pay for a night at a different hotel and left. It just had a creepy feel to the place, accentuated by the cold staff. Couldn't get wifi signal in the room and no heating that I could see.

I'm not opposed to basic accomodation as long as it's clean and safe, but this didn't tick those boxes for me. We ended up staying at the Novotel that night for around $150 AUD. Just be forewarned if it's booked as part of your tour.

My husband and I stayed here for a night before and another after going to Macchu Picchu. This stay was arranged a head of time by our Travel Agency in Arequipa. I must admit the location was simply excellent for getting around Cusco on both days and probably the only reason that we would elect to stay here ever again.

We found ourselves booked into a room with two single beds for both nights although a queen size bed had originally been requested. Unfortunately there was no way that a change could be made for either night!

The woman at the reception was also quite unfriendly and annoyed that we had NOT brought our white tourist cards with us although we had brought our Passports with our tourist visas stamped right into them. We had locked up our white tourist cards in our safe in Arequipa and were told that we only needed them to leave the country at the end of our trip (as we would be in much trouble if we lost them!), and that we did NOT need them for any trips within the country itself. This seemed to be quite an issue for her and we still do not know why to this day. I suspect it might have had something to do with taxes that the hotel would save having to pay on our behalf... However, it was never ever an issue for any other hotel that we stayed at during our one month stay in Peru.

A very nice young man helped us up the very steep stairs with our suitcases. We could never have handled lugging them up the stairs ourselves!

The room itself was rather chilly, but still comfortable enough and very clean nevertheless. The beds were okay and there were more than enough blankets for us to keep warm. The shower never did become very hot...rather tepid after you let the water run for about five minutes...but this still worked out fine with us. No toiletries were provided. We always bring our own anyway.

We had to request an extension cord for my husband's CPAP machine, even though we already had brought an extra extension cord within our luggage, as there were no outlets near our twin beds. I think I only counted two outlets in the entire room.

This place was also pitch black when we arrived back from our trip to Macchu Picchu on the Sunday night at 11:00 pm, making it much harder to find this hotel. We actually walked right by it the first time. Eventually we had to ring the doorbell to gain entrance but the fellow who let us in was quite pleasant about it.

Breakfast was more than adequate in our opinions...we left with full tummies! Although, I would not have paid extra to pay for it!

The free WiFi was great in the lobby...but not in our room.

It was nice that they stored our luggage during the day while we were waiting to board our plane on the Monday evening. Just not so great that we HAD to check out by 9 am ( please keep this in mind when booking this place especially if you are exhausted from the night before) and our flight was for 5 pm later on in the day...
We have never ever stayed at a hotel with a check-out that was so early before!!!

I do not recommend this place at all.

1. Bad security for foreigners or locals

I had a package and disappeared from my room no one get the responsable of this and they did not have cameras working in the hotel to verify this or resolve the situation I did not see any effort or worry from the hotel: I do not feel comfortable with the situation because could be another document more important as my passport or wallet (I would not like this to happen to another foreigner).

2. Few breakfast options

The options to choose what to have for breakfast are few and there is no variety.

3. Cold rooms

Cusco it is very cold place more at night and early in the morning and my room had only one blanket, the heating did not work so I had to use my poncho and more clothes to do not get frozen.

4. The shower has no door

To taking a shower as the shower there was no door the whole bathroom was flooded and even the water came out into the room: not contable at all.

Horrible Hotel it is clean but the stuff is very rude when you ask them to take your luggage to your room. The rooms are clean but the towels smell very bad and my room did not have any hot water. Not recommended. Breakfast was very lateeven when they tell you that they served it at 6 am they served the breakfast when they want 30 min later.

I stayed at this hotel 2 times with a tour group in 7 days. The hotel broke my luggage without saying sorry or making any compensation. They only blamed me that my luggage was not high quality enough. What's funnier was that the staff there acted like Mr. Bean when you talked to them or wanna complain. They would reply you with a "yes" no matter what you asked and then just sat down and continued to enjoy the TV show on the desk of the reception. At the end, we all got nothing we asked for except the Mr. Bean look from the staff.

Worse still, No Hot Water for my entire stay. The heater was broken as well.
No matter what, Stay away from this hotel unless you want to torture yourself.

The location is great ! But this kafkai experiance we had there makes it one of the worst hotels. We've booked a room with one twin and 2 single beds. On the second day we returned from a hike to find the twin bed was taken out and replaced with a single bed. The people at the reception didn't offer an explanation just a wide eye stare. It took time and a lot of nerves to get a bed for the 4th person in our party. Next, the laundry we gave that morning came back with half of someone's elses laundry. Where was ours? We still don't know. Again, no help from the front desk. To end that day we had no hot water at all and when we asked them to put lauggage in safe keeping for 2 days it was a problem. So we took everything to the next hotel at 23:00, came back and slept the few hours till our pick up for the trek. Breakfast was very basic as well. Too expensive for this service. It's a three star hotel with 1 star service.

This place should be avoided at all cost! The breakfast, as sparse as it is, is inedible. I was forced to stay here for several days by my tour operator and the 2 times I tried to eat the breakfast I got uncomfortably sick with the common gastrointestinal condition that travelers sometimes incur. The juice is in one of those nice dispensers that has a cooling core in the center but the core isn't used. And the burners under the egg pan aren't utilized either. The bread and jam are left out overnight and are totally nasty.

Laundry service here is a complete joke. One day they took my clothes and stuffed it under the counter and just tried to hand it back to me that evening as being washed. When I saw the particular individual that had done that in the morning he laughed about it in an unusual way, I believe he did it intentionally. Another time I had a pair of someone else's socks included with my clothes.

The rooms themselves (I had 2 different rooms over this period) would probably be worth 2 stars but with this kind of service that isn't going to happen.

We stayed here for four nights in two different rooms. It is a creepy place, with curtains coming off their tracks and dirty stained carpets. The bed linen was clean the first night but not the second night. There was a dirty blanket folded in half on the double bed. Just didn't want it near me! In the first room, there was a large crack across most of the handbasin and nowhere to put your toiletries. There was a column heater that was covered in dust and looked like it had never been cleaned. The bedroom window overlooked a concrete courtyard and straight across to rooms where a family lives. That's room 208.

The second room 203 had twin beds, slightly cleaner carpet, but still dingy and dank. At least there was a functioning heater and warmer bedding.

What both rooms had in common was no hot water. It is winter time and after a day out and about walking and climbing, you just want a hot shower before bed. We came from the shower freezing and shaking and trying to dry off in front of the heater. Not holiday fun.

The breakfast is basic. I ate bread and jam and a banana each day with a coffee. The hot offering was scrambled egg with some kind of sausage slices that looked particularly unappetising.

Be aware that your belongings will be gone through by the hotel staff while you are away from your room. I returned to the room yesterday evening and the youngest man who works on the front desk asked me for my room key. He ran up the stairs ahead of me and opened my door. I was close behind him and saw that he had found one of our chargers that fitted his phone and had been using our personal belongings to charge his own phone.

We used this hotel as part of an Intrepid trip. It is disgusting and Intrepid should take more care when selecting hotels for international visitors. The front desk staff speak no English and lied to the Intrepid agent in Cusco. They told her that the hot water problem had been resolved. The hotel wants the business but is needs lift its game. It is not a 3 star hotel. It is a horrible place to stay. The one star I have given is that it has a good location not far from the main square. I am writing this away fro the Emperador Plaza Hotel because they provide very intermittent wifi.

I'm mad as hell! The door knob of my room fell off. I went to the counter the girl told me to wait 10-20 mins. 30 mins later I went down the girl was gone replaced by a guy who told me rather nonchalantly --"manana " ---wait till tomorrow.

I stayed here as part of a tour. The first day was fine but after this incident I WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this to anyone because they're obviously not bothered whether your door know works properly!

They wasted my time waiting & couldn't be bothered at all to help. Stay elsewhere!
