This was our base to explore Machu Picchu. Very central location walkable to most places and safe. Money changers and local tour agencies along the street towards town square. Hotel was clean, comfortable and warm with rooms well spaced out. Rooms were spacious and came equipped with all amenities, bathtub, comfortable beds and a view of the mountain out the window. WiFi was good and there is a tea station at the lobby that is always open for all and a computer for use. Hotel has a lift and a gift shop inside. Breakfast was acceptable but always need topping up as only limited quantity is put out each time.

I would say this is a 3.5 star hotel. It's 2 or 3 blocks from the plaza. Close enough to walk almost every you need to be for tours, but far enough for a good night’s rest. This, like other buildings in Cusco, is older & dated, so if you are expecting luxury, go stay at a “5 star” hotel outside of the plaza. Room was clean, bed was comfortable enough, had a safe, and space heater. Their daily breakfast buffet was great.

I was on 2nd floor, so I could hear the lobby and restaurant when there were crowds. I recommend a higher level room if noise, for a little bit, bothers you. There’s no clock/alarm in room; just use your cell phone as one. Can you hear guests above you getting ready & closing doors at 3am? Yes, and it’s like that everywhere else that has tours starting that early.

Overall, for the price and location, this was great for a solo traveler.

This hotel has a nice location in Cusco (Avenida El Sol, two blocks from Plaza de Armas). Very clean rooms and nice restaurant. It also has a cafe, used to serve breakfast. It provides a very nice stay for the price. Do not expect luxury; it is a budget hotel, better than many low budget hostals and B&B in Cusco.

The hotel has a location near the Plaza de Armas, the breakfast is just ok, the rooms have old bathrooms so you can expect some water leaks and the ac connectors fails sometimes, the reception is very kind but I had a human error booking an extra night and when I realized it I informed the hotel 2 hours after checking in and to make a long story short the hotel kept my money and basically their excuse It was that this reservation did not allow them to return money, but they could have had worms in the fruit for breakfast without even an apology. I do not recommend any traveler to stay at this hotel. they are dishonest!

Staff was rude, room key was enormous, have fun dragging it on your hikes. bed sheets stained and with hair, safe didn't work, heater didn't work, walls were paper mache so room was loud, breakfast was like a gas station in rural America. I literally just walked out and booked another hotel. They advertise this to be a nice hotel but it is more like a cheap hostel. I have pictures and videos of all this. Normally I wouldn't even post a negative review but the staff was so rude, they deserve this! And you deserve to avoid this place and stay at a decent hotel. . . . Cusco is pretty awesome though.

We booked 2 rooms, one room for kids. The rooms are just small and basic. it is old dated furniture. The bed for 2 are too small. The service to get our luggage took more than 2 hours. Front desk are not Fluent in English. Lot of noise in the nighttime.
We stayed 2 days in December 28 and 29th Of 2019. The breakfast is good and is located in the city center.

I would not go back to the hotel to stay there, better I will choose some other good hotel
Near by.

I enjoyed my stay at El Dorado. Their staff was very friendly and helpful. They hooked us up with a tour guide as soon as we arrived and informed us of the various tours they offered around the city and nearby ruins.
They also keep oxygen handy for those who get sick due to the altitude...and my family did need it.
The hotel also has a great location, so stay here!

We stayed at the El Dorado as part of an Overseas Adventure Tour. This is a very comfortable hotel with a great location. While not luxurious, our room was clean, functional and of reasonable size with a large clean bathroom. The lobby, again while not luxurious, was reasonably furnished and comfortable. Free internet was available ( 2 computers). The location is superb - only and a five minute walk from the Plaza de Armas ( the main city square). Walking to and back from the Plaza at night presented no problem for us vis-a-vis safety, etc. Our room did not face the street so noise at night was not an issue. One of our group had some serious altitude issues and oxygen was made available to her. The El Dorado provides a very credible breakfast buffet featuring both hot and cold dishes. There are a wide variety of reasonably priced restaurants in the immediate area. If you don't expect Hyatt type luxury but are looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel, the El Dorado should suit you well.

The quick story: This is a decent hotel with comfortable, clean rooms in a nice location. It does have some negatives which are forgivable because of its value and location. . .

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in January. The trip was booked on short notice through a travel agency in Lima, so I had not had a chance to do any research on this hotel beforehand. This hotel is referred to as 4 star, though it is clearly not. However, for the price, it isactually quite good. In terms of amenities think Courtyard by Marriott or Holiday Inn Express and you'll have an idea of what you are in for. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, included soap and shampoo. The room also has a small fridge, and a safe in the closet. The room is on the small side for someone used to the typical U.S. hotel room, so there is no extra furniture such as a desk or pad of paper to write on. Wake up calls could come 20 mins. earlier or later than requested. The smallish lobby has a rustic feel, our windows faced the lobby, which was open all the way till the ceiling. The bad part of this is that it tends to amplify the sounds in the lobby, so in your room, you can really hear the telephone and loud conversation in the lobby at night. Also, there were areas in the lobby and around the elevator that had not been dusted in some time. The best part of the lobby was the free coca tea that was there at all times, there was also free breakfast in the restaurant, which included scrambled eggs and sausage. We did not eat dinner there as it lacked any sort of ambiance. A positive point of the hotel was its location which was about a 5 to 10 min walk to the main square. The reception staff seemed nice, though we did not interact with them much since all out tours were booked through a travel agency.

It could be better...the location was OK. The room has smells, not clean.
I wish I had better place to stay.
First night we had a worst room which sleeps terrible and asked to change next day. There was a construction going on middle of the night we couldn't sleep enough.( we had 1 double, 1 triple room) .
