Also called the Hostal Andenes de Saphi, this place can be found along the same street as the police station so the area is pretty safe. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is free Coca tea available all day. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean . All the rooms have a heater. We paid $30 for a double room with en suite shower room and free transfer from the airport. Breakfast starts at 5am if you wanted to make an early start. They will try to offer tours to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu but will not be aggressive about it. It was only a 5 minute walk to the main square where most people spent the evening. They were helpful in finding us accommodation in Aguas Calientes and put some of our luggage in storage whilst we were away visiting Machu Picchu. Also they booked and collected our coach tickets to Arequipa which saved us a lot of time. They were also willing to take travellers cheques. Transport around Cusco was never a problem as there are many taxi's around.

Great little hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms clean with individual artistic touches that make each room unique. It is close to the action, but not so close as to hear all the noise on the street (although the walls are a bit thin).

This eclectic hotel has bits of art stashed everywhere from outdoor gardens, indoor altars and hand carved relief paintings in the third floor bedrooms. The breakfast was ample and well served by gracious staff. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas. Quiet rooms even on street side. Two thumbs up!

We drove in straight from Ollantaytambo and had no reservations. We stopped to check pricing on several hotels. We found that this place was an incredible value. We've been staying in several hotels now throughout Peru. Most places have horrible plumbing, bad water pressure, water gets cold fast, inadequate ventilation, etc. But this place has a shower with really strong pressure, really hot instant water! I booked my previous hotels through the internet. As I said before, this one I did not, this one was quote as 90 soles, but they finally agreed to 75 soles for a quadruple, thats under $30 USD a day for us 4! This place is about 3-4 blocks away from the central square. It is quiet and tranquil. It is clean, doesn't smell musty or feel humid, it is very clean and staff is attentive. It includes breakfast, but I have not had it so I cant comment on it yet.

Andenes de Saphy is very cozy, friendly, and clean. The room was spacious with a bathroom and accommodated three of us very well. The room does get chilly at night but the hotel provides enough blankets and a heater to combat the cold. The breakfast was continental served from 6-9am, to bad we left the hotel around 5am everyday, because it was delicious our last day there. Also, the hotel is located less than a 10min walk to the plaza and 18min walk to Sacsayhuaman. Overall, this is a great place to stay!

The hostal is in a tranquil position, about 10-15 minutes walk to Plaza de armas. It is clean but basic. Some rooms are quite dark. Staff is really friendly, but their recommandation to use the travel agency "Cusco agency" was really bad. This agency organised a two day trip for me to Puno and the islands of the Titicaca see. This tourned out to be of a much lower quality as they sold me. It is much cheaper if you organise the trip on your own guys!
The www.cuscoagency.com is not professional, be careful!

We stayed for 5 nights in the family room, interrupted by the Inca trail which meant that we stored our luggage, without any problems. The room is very large, on 2 levels, with one double bed. The quality of some of the beds is on the lower end with some of the mattresses worn out. The blankets are heavy, but we had that at other places, too. They provided a heater (included) which was really necessary as it was very cold. The stairs up to the second level are without a handrail. The shower head needs maintenance, it s also quite hard to keep the water inside the curtain which is too small and therefore not covering up properly. The room is located uphill, which means you ll have good training before the Inca trail. The staff is attentive to any requests. The breakfast is served in a nice area: 2 big yummy bread rolls, 2 fried eggs or muesli, jam, margarine, fresh juice, tea and coffee. Simpel, but sufficient, not for the breakfast enthusiast. Location is 10-15 min walk slightly uphill from Plaza de Armas, moderately noisy with lots of dogs barking at night. WiFi was working in our room, free parking possible in front of the hotel, tiny old TV, free airport shuttle. Overall a 7/10 experience for us.

The best part was the breakfast and the friendly staff. But the price is same as other hotels on the area on a better location, for example: for $10 we stayed at another hotel in front of Plaza de Armas which is the prime location!
Our room was very uncomfortable since it has a big sky light on top of the bed, which allow too much light to go into the room. It´s not possible to sleep in on a bright room like that, nor even relax during the day, since the room gets too hot.
Also, the bed is full size, which I consider small for a couple. But the worst part of the bed was that sqweeks way too much and too loud every time we moved. At the same time there is a lot of noise coming in from the other bedrooms and from the hallway. You are able to hear everything (flushing toilets, conversations, etc.)
The location, it's at the end of the Saphi street which is not part of the touristic Cuzco area, next to a bus station. This hostal it´s about 15 minutes walk to Plaza de Armas.
I was thankful we have to stay there for one night only.

Our family rented the large room with four beds. The room was not fancy but adequate. A shower and separate bath was nice for a large group. Huge room and very convenient to the main plaza, an easy 5-10 minute walk. The staff was excellent, always available and eager to help. Breakfast was simple and available after about 6am. Coffee and tea anytime. If you don't need a five star hotel, this is a great place to stay. We were also allowed to keep our bags there while on the Machu Picchu trail and get them when we returned. Barking dogs during the night were a bit annoying but overall I would stay here again.

Andenes de Saphy is a nice place to stay and is not too close to the Plaza, but not too far away either. We would walk to the Plaza during the day, and take a taxi back at night for 3 soles.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful with anything we needed. The beds were not too comfortable, but were not horrible either. Breakfast consisted of bread and yogurt or eggs.

The bad thing about the Hotel is the nosie level. The outside walls are very thin and you can hear horns honking, people talking, and roosters. If you are worried about a good night's sleep this is not the place for you. If you are a sound sleeper don't worry about it.
