Large comfortable beds with a good basic breakfast included. They were able to accommodate our large family of nine in just a couple of minutes without prior booking.

Breakfast is served on the top floor with a nice outlook over the city.

Wi-fi was working as advertised but we never got our TV to work (was not really necessary though).

Staff is very friendly and happy to help!

Unumizu is a very well run hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dont be put off by the location, the taxi ride into town is cheap (about 4 soles) so the location can actually be a bonus because its quiet at night. If you want to do your own exploring, the bus to Pisac in the Sacred Valley is just around the corner and gets you there in under an hour. The facilities in the hotel are excellent, lovely rooms with comfy beds, clean bathrooms with HOT water and cable TV with channels in english. The breakfast was the best we had in four weeks of travelling, and they will have breakfast ready earlier if you are travelling to Macchu Picchu. They also organised a room delivery pizza for us when we got back late from MP. If you are going to MP independently, be advised the taxi to the station is about 50 soles each way, the bus ticket can only be purchased at the train station at Agua Calientes as can the entry ticket into MP. There is no signage so ask at the station for the tickets. We didnt know this and were charged 20 soles extra per person at MP as someone had to go down on the bus back to Agua Calientes to bring tickets back up for us.

We stayed here for one night between visit to Porto Maldonado and Copacobana. Only regret is that we didn't stay here all the time we were in Cusco. We stayed in this hotel because it was close to the bus station.
The room was clean, lots of air. Tea available out in communal lounge area. It seemed to be run by a family. They were so friendly, helpful, and kind. They looked after our luggage when we checked out for a few hours and we had to insist that they took a tip.
Breakfast was lovely. In a nice bright area on the top floor. A chef made us some poached eggs. I would sta here again and recommend it to anyone that is traveling to Cusco. It's within walking distance to main square (15 mins). Great value for money.

This review is a bit out of date as we were actually there a year ago (in 2012), but if all owners are the same and judging by the still positive reviews, nothing has changed. This family owned, value hotel in cusco could not have been a better situation. For a young, professional couple who is past their days of deeming hostels acceptable, but not at a point in life where we are wanting (or needing) to stay at the Four Seasons this place was fantastic!
They picked us up late at the airport, waiting there upon arrival with our names on a sign. The driver was friendly and spoke some English, pointing things out as we drove along. The hotel staff, even late at night, we're friendly and welcoming. They asked us what cars or rides we might need the next day and told us all about their breakfast. The place was extremely clean and even pretty modern (private bathrooms with amenities and even flat screen TV's!). It is also an easy and safe walk into the downtown center with lots to pass by on the way.
The best thing that happened was when we were leaving for 2 nights to head to Aguas Calintes to visit Machu Picchu. They knew we were returning back to stay with them in 2 days and offered to let us KEEP our stuff in our room so we wouldn't have to lug all of our huge luggage to Machu Picchu, and offered it to us complimentary! I think we were lucky because we went during the off season so the hotel wasn't completely full so they were able to accommodate us in that way but I cannot tell you how helpful it was for us to only have to bring overnight bags and leave everything else safely at the hotel. Because of this gesture, I will always go back and stay at this hotel and recommend it to everyone going to Cusco.

All staff at Unumizu was excellent. They couldn't do enough for us. Free airport pick up and drop off, helpful advice, the cook who made the best omelets, the free luggage storage. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel for 4 nights, having planned to only stay for 2 nights. The third floor room we had was large enough, the bed was comfy, and we had hot water most of the time. Breakfast on the fifth floor had a great view. It is still in walking distance to the main square, but its well away from the crowds.

All my family stayed here for a whole week and they were completely pleasant with the attention and comfort of this hotel, also all employees were very nice and always giving the best attention to all guests.
Also, a couple of foreign friends also were hosted here and they said the same: a great place and a good price.
I definitely recommend this hotel to local and foreign friends.

This is a family run business and you are truly treated like family.

Our experience:

- They picked us up from the airport for free which took away all the uncertainty with regard to safety of taxis etc, also allowing us to have an early checkin at no extra charge

- The location is 15-20min walk outside the main cuzco centre, i actually found this to be advantageous because it meant a very quiet nights sleep away from traffic. It is in a safe location, and fewer tourists mean you get some exposure to the true local streets/people (unlike the extremely touristy central plazas)

- rooms were very clean and well maintained, more than enough room, reliable hot water, tv, very fast wifi internet, computer if u needed it

- the breakfast was healthy and adequate: fresh fruit, fruit juices, yoghurt, cereal, bread, avocado, cheese, olives, ham, and all the hot drinks. it was managed by a very polite waiter who ensured you were always happy and was always smiling

- our excursions/tours were organised with cheap but excellent transport companies (the best guides of our entire trip thus far), we even asked for a tour of the sacred valley at 830pm the night before and they still managed to get us the tickets!

- to top things off, they kindly allowed us a very late checkout in order for us to be comfortable prior to catching our overnight bus to arequipa

Will definitely be coming back here and recommending our friends to do the same. Unparalleled service! Such outstanding value. Highly highly recommended.

hate to give a bad review since the service was very friendly and great, but like other people mentioned, this is a Hostel and not a 3 star hotel.
I stayed in another hotel in the same area so i got something to compare
Price for a 'hotel' is great, but the whole group i was traveling with was shocked at the hotel. I booked this after seeing all the great reviews and prices, but would not recommend for someone looking for a hotel

Area:
-area is very blue collar, mechanics, shops, etc. So doesn't feel safe at night. guys should be ok, but for ladies traveling probably not recommended

Room:
-the room was bad. towels probably forgot what white looks like. room didn't seem clean at all including the bathroom. It was so bad i didn't event want to take a shower after a long hike. Basically arrived late so couldn't do much, but slept on my clothes on top of the sheets and checked out early morning to search for another hotel

STAFF:
The staff here were nice and welcoming. Personally I found they weren't as fluent in english as the other hotel I stayed in, however they were still very polite & helpful.
They carried our bags up to our room.
The night we arrived (Friday / 9:30 PM), we were extremely tired (arriving after a 4 day Inca Trail trek) and didn't feel like walking around to find dinner. We saw another guest ordering pizza when we checked in, so hotel staff called pizza place and placed order for us (pizza was good!).
They didn't require us to pay for our room until the day we were checked out, even though we had booked the room through a booking company.

LOCATION:
This hotel is off the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of those hotels located closer to the Plaza de Armas & Plaza San Francisco. It seems like the neighborhood is a little rougher, so those travelers who may be a little timid may consider this hotel to be less desirable. I will say however, I NEVER FELT UNSAFE walking through the neighborhood. Hotel is only a quarter of a block down from the main street.

Since the hotel is not as close to major tourist locations, I found the street noise to be considerably less, making it more peaceful. For me, I was able to get a more restful sleep at this hotel (on this same trip, I stayed at another hotel closer to Plaza San Francisco & Plaza de Armas and it was very noisy).

Hotel is still an easy walking distance (10-15 min) to Plaza de Armas, but if you don't want to walk, a taxi is only 4 sols to the Plaza. (Walking is faster).
Walking through this neighborhood to get to major tourist areas, you will pass auto part stores, natural pharmacies, hardware stores, pet stores, restaurants and more.
There is a local outdoor market a block away (go out hotel & make a left, up to the main street and make another left, open air market is on the right), Mercado de Wanchaq (a must see).
Hotel is located only a few of blocks away from the main street into the Plaza de Armas (Ave El Sol).

ROOM:
Nothing fancy, but clean and comfy. Aesthetically, I would say it is average for the area.
We were in room 203. This room did not face the street, so we did not hear any street noise.
This room was on the second floor, so we only had to walk up one flight of stairs (typical of the area - no elevator). However, it was on the floor that had a sitting area (couches, computer and hot tea) and guests utilizing this area were not considerate of other hotel guests. It seemed hotel management was oblivious to the noise, as it didn't appear they made any attempt to ask the guests to keep the noise down. Finally, at 11:15 PM, I opened the door to my room and made eye contact with the guests and they got the hint and went to their room. There was a unisex bathroom on this floor. I heard people going into it through out the night. It may be some rooms did not have a private bathroom and they had to use this bathroom (you may want to check into this to make sure your room has a bathroom).

The room temperature was comfortable (no heat or a/c). There was a small window that opened in the room (no screen) and a slatted window in the bathroom (no screen) that opened.

There was plenty of room for our packs and luggage and a small area with a couple of shelves and a place to hang clothes. Room had a small safe for valuables (we did not use it).

Small flat screen TV with one or two channels in english (CNN and occasionally an english TV show with spanish subtitles).

BEDS: We were in a room with 3 single beds. Each bed felt different (kinda like the 3 bears!), one was great/very comfortable, one was okay and one was a little soft & slouchy.

Linens were clean and blankets on the beds were adequate for room temperature.

BATHROOM:
Towels were dingy (needed some bleach to whiten them up).
Shampoo provided (and soap too, after we asked for it).
**Plenty of HOT WATER and great water pressure!
Shower was clean, but I still wore flip flops in the shower as the grout between the tile seemed like it was a little dirty and I didn't want to take any chances of picking up a foot fungus.

WiFi: Wifi connection was terrible! There were 3 of us, each with different carriers and none of us had good wifi connection in our two days staying there.

BREAKFAST:
Free.
Breakfast was served on the top floor.
Cereal, fruit, yogurt, bread, eggs to order, coffee, tea & juices
Great view!
You might want to advise hotel management if you are leaving early and want breakfast, it says breakfast is ready at 6 AM, however breakfast was not ready until 6:20ish. Perhaps if you make arrangements with management in advance, they will coordinate better with kitchen to have breakfast ready.

OTHER:
Electrical outlets in our room took american plugs!

There was what looked like a someone wiped a booger on the wall by the bed and also by the light switch. Other than that, room was clean.

Water was available for purchase in the hotel lobby.

Hotel was on "lock down" during late/after hours. They keep your room key when you leave the hotel for the day, so they probably don't lock up until all guests have returned for the evening. We returned around 9:30 PM and manager was still at the front desk.

Room/hotel interior looked just like posted pictures, so no surprises.

TAXI:
Taxi to Plaza de Armas: 4 sols.
Note: If there is traffic, walk! It is much faster to get from the Plaza to the hotel by walking than it is in a taxi!!

Taxi to airport: 10 sols
Hotel is about 10 minutes from the airport.
I read in other guests' post they received free taxi service to the airport. We did not receive that benefit, even though we made travel arrangements to the airport through the hotel.

OVERALL:
When I was looking at the hotel on the map on line, it seemed like the perfect distance away from the craziness of the main tourist areas. Then, the night we were driving there from our other hotel, it seemed far and out of the way and I thought there was no way I was walking anywhere from it. However, in the morning, with the map the hotel provided, navigating to the places we wanted to go was very easy and not too far at all! No one in our group experienced difficulty breathing while walking to the Plaza.

With all the festivities going on during our stay (Festival de Cusco and Festival del Sol) this hotel was in the perfect location! We were far enough away from the noise of the Plazas, yet close enough to still be able to walk everywhere we wanted within minutes!

This hotel is a bargain! It is not a luxury hotel, but you're not paying a luxury price. I doubt you are going to find a comparable hotel for the price! This place is perfect for the backpacker or the average tourist.
I most definitely would stay here again!
If towels were white, walls were free of the debris I described and we would have received taxi service to airport that other guests received, I would have given it an above average rating.

We (young couple) stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. We were able to choose the room, but all the available rooms were perfect! The pick-up service from the airport is very nice. The Wifi is working very good. Breakfast was always very good and diverse. One day, when we had to leave very early, they even brought the breakfast to our room. All the employees are very nice. We really recommend this hotel!
