Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mama Simona's was a comfortable place to stay and a great location is Cusco, just an 8 minute walk away from Plaza des Armas. It was a little chilly when we were there, and the wifi was a bit spotty. However, we liked being somewhere quiet, clean, and friendly!

Location is conveniently placed in the tourist district and right down the road is a 24 hr laundry and convenient store. The staff are nice, and the services are worth what you get for the price. The water is not always very hot, but it is a hostel. The lockers set up for you to leave your luggage is safe and convenient.

The friendliest and most helpful receptionist that I've ever met works at Bear Packer in Cuzco, and his name is Bruno. Gracias por todo!!

Apart from that, Bear Packer has free breakfast, free storage, free wifi, nice beds, a good location in Cuzco and beautiful murals all over the hostel.

If I can wish something for my future visits, it would be a more sturdy system around the locking of the storage boxes (not the padlock itself, but the metal / wood that I attach the padlock to, to be more trustworthy).

Thanks! Sofia

We stayed in a private room with a bunk bed. The room was fairly tiny and dark. There wasn't much room to lay out our stuff besides a small bench and two lockers to store our stuff during the day. The hot water was inconsistent at times, but there was hot water. Overall, the stay was fine. The breakfast was very simple - a hard boiled egg, some bread with jam and some juice and coffee. While the place itself was fine, I would say the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful! A+ for the staff but so so for the accommodations.

This place was a recommendation from a local friend, so I had high expectations for this hostel. Even though I arrived around 1am, there was someone smiling at the front desk on our arrival. Throughout the 4 day stay, every staff was nice and helpful. The location walking distance from the major tourist points and I must say they beds, specially for an hostel were nice and big. Showers and the free breakfast were good too.

Really nice hostel, very chilled out. We booked a private room with an ensuite, it was clean, spacious and very reasonably priced. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much. The hostel is close to the town centre and is walking distance from many restaurants and cafes, it is also fairly close to attractions like Saqsaywaman. We really enjoyed our stay here.

I came to Cusco to do the Inca Trail with friends and stayed for a total of 3 nights. The rooms were clean, the shower had hot water, and the receptionists were all really nice! It helps to speak some Spanish though for the receptionists that take the night shifts. Great location near the city center. Would totally stay again.

We stayed in a great, light and airy, private twin room with private bathroom with a hot, yes, hot, shower!
The most comfortable beds that we slept in with linen that you could actually have your skin touch (some places were so dirty we couldn't sleep in the bed, instead had to lay on it in a sleeping bag!").
Helpful staff and a lovely central social area.
The only average thing about this hostel was the breakfast.

We stayed here for two nights, the double en-suite room was very quiet, albeit a little dingy with no windows or natural light.
The staff were very helpful and assisted in helping us book transport and trips for Machu Picchu and Rainbow mountain.
Breakfast was included and was tasty also.
