La Casona de San Jeronimo is a boutique hotel in San Jeronimo, a historical village on the outskirts of Cusco. The main building is built in colonial style and dates back to 1890. It has been a family residence and heirloom for four generations. The current owner took great care to restore and modernize the house, adding more rooms while preserving the original architectural style. The furniture, sculptures and paintings collected by the family over the centuries have been restored to decorate the rooms and the restaurant, adding a touch of elegance and reflecting the rich past of the house. La Casona de San Jeronimo offers a unique experience combining comfort, authentic colonial feeling, relaxed atmosphere and excellent service.

The hotel is located in a beautiful property, the garden and the furnitures are really nice and well maintained.
Altough it is located around 25 min from downtown Cusco is so peaceful that is worth the commute.
Because of the distance I don't recomend it for first time visitors who would prefer to stay near Plaza de Arnas but for someone looking for something different and away from the turists is perfect.
The staff is really nice and helpful, the book us a driver to get us around some nearby archeaeological sites and a taxi to get us downtown.
The rooms are huge! Really good beds and the complimentary bath products were great!

If you are looking for a truly colonial place to stay in Cusco, this is the hotel for you. From the outside, you are looking at the front of any typical building on a Cusco street, but on the inside, your jaw will drop and your eyes will pop out! Every room is decorated with fine antiques, furniture and paintings from the colonial period. Attention to detail is given to every aspect you see in order to maintain and preserve the atmosphere in this incredible colonial house. In case that isn't enough, the gardens are superb, private and full of stunning trees, plants and sun-traps or shady places to sit. It was a pleasure to wake up here every day and to think of returning here after a day in busy, chaotic Cusco.

A mention must be made of the staff in this hotel. The young staff members are always there to greet you with a smile and provide help whatever you need, no matter whether you can speak Spanish or not. The proprietress (Nancy) has visited Europe a number of times and seeks to provides a warm welcome to travelers from all over the World. Although other comments note that this hotel is far out of town, it is 15 minutes in a taxi and will cost you no more than 15 PEN (less than 4 GBP).

Finally, the comfort level in the rooms was really top-notch. SERIOUSLY comfortable beds and a massive bathroom just to help you relax during your stay.

I cannot recommend this property enough. When I return to Cusco, I will definitely be checking into La Casona de San Jeronimo once again!

Everyone books hotels in downtown Cusco, often in preparation for the Machu Pichu Trek. We were staying in Cusco (and still are), for four days prior to ascending and doing the Salkatay Trail up to Machu Pichu. For two days we decided to stay outside of Cusco Downtown to enjoy the life maybe quieter to the tourism. Boy did we get lucky.

The Casona is a beautiful place. From the outside it looks like a tall building, which hides the beautiful building inside. Inside is a gorgeous Spanish-Like Villa with an expansive living room and a spacious outdoor garden that grows Pears, Peaches, you name it. There's a friendly dog named Canon who loves people and has become adopted by the proprietor Theo and the lady that oversees the place Nancy.

Our room was amazingly spacious set under a big splendid painting with a cute living room set to the side of velvet chairs and a window that looks over the garden and out into the alleyway. The amenities are superb and the garden a peaceful escape from hectic travelng. Even if you can spare a day from a hectic crazy flight I would HIGHLY recommend spending it in this place, where the garden feels like Eden and will rest your soul.

Theo, the proprietor, told us that this place used to be his home and he converted it into a hotel about 15 years ago. His father was a doctor and Theo himself is an Anthropologist. Everyone here is extremely friendly and sweet. Although it is a ways away from Cusco, it's highly worth it to just experience a Spanish Villa in Cusco with a magical history. This home was built 120 years ago, and the paintings, pictures, and garden all speak to that.

If you come to Cusco, stay here before you keep on your hectic journey. For a mid-range hotel the price is unbeatable.

You feel like walking into the history when you get into this hotel. The place is absolutely gorgeous. But more importantly, the staff are better than you can imagine. They are so accommodating with our needs. They woke up early in the morning to get us breakfast when we have to leave at 4:30 am for Machu Picchu. The breakfast is wonderful and plentiful with all the food prepared fresh. It is far from the Plaza but we were there to visit friends so it didn't matter to us. It is quite easy to get taxi since it is located on the main street. The only problem is that the street can get noisy in the morning.
