Located in the historic center of Cusco, all the sights are within easy walking distance. Rooms are located on several floors around a central courtyard, which means rooms are subject to the noise of passing guests. We stayed in the gorgeous 2-storey family room, which has 5 beds and a kitchenette. There are 2 different family-style rooms, and we much preferred room 202, which was quieter. Breakfast is not included. Recommend.

Strait upfront, I want to give this place a 4,5 and had to round up. Its not perfect enough for a 5 start but we really liked out stay here, so much so that we rebooked for after our Inka trail hike. The hotel is perfectly located if you are going with Alpaca Expeditions, 200m down the road form their offices.

Totally we stayed 6 nights at Casa Cavassa (had fun saying that while we were staying there) two times 3 Days. We got two different rooms, and we definitely liked the first room (sorry forgot the numbers) to the second one (the duplex), but both were good. We got the rooms with a kitchen in them and while the equipment is basic it is enough to cook a small meal and having a (European Sized) fridge was nice. Our first bed was huge the other was good size. Both rooms we got, looked out onto to main road, which is not a quiet one, needs to be said. the first room had some noise insulation once everything was closed the other not so much. Luckily by that time I had grow accustomed to noise so it didn't actually bother me that much.
Nice thing about the duplex was it had a good sized balcony where we could enjoy our Coca Mate or Coffee while watching the busy street below.

Overall the rooms we where in were clean, but not spotless. They seemed to clean the tiles in the Kitchen with the wood floor cleaner, which meant walking on it produced steaks (honestly speculation on my behalf but walking on the kitchen tiles produced streaks).
My one big gripe with the place was that the shower doors where installed incorrectly for both of the rooms that we had. Which led to the bathroom being semi submerged in water after two consecutive showers we would have. The thing that really got to me, was that if they had installed the doors from our first room in our second room and vise versa, they would have installed them correctly and there would have not been any water issue.

But overall the decoration was decent and solid, not luxury level but well done with some well though out ideas.

I believe the whole setup of the hotel is maybe more aimed at local tourists. One of the things is that, none of the staff can speak even rudimentary English, which is not an issue for us but can be for others. The girl at reception (who generally seems to be there from afternoon to evening, and I am feeling guilty that I never got her name) is very good and helpful and is able to communicate with people who speak pigeon Spanish, if need be with translation app. Others in the team, seem to struggle a little.

But after all that, as I said before, for the price we payed the rooms where big, clean (enough) and had decent kitchen equipped. We were able to be somewhat self-sufficient, which is what we were looking for. Recommend for anyone who might be looking for similar

The hotel is centrally located, minutes from the central plaza, lots of restaurants nearby. Carol at the front desk was nice and very accommodating, allowing us to change rooms couple times as we could not decide which room we like better. The rooms are nice and clean, each with unique character. The apartment style room with living area and kitchen works perfectly for family.

I’m baffled by the quality of reviews for this hotel, they are incredibly misleading. This was without doubt the worst hotel I have stayed in. Our room was damp, musty and smelt. There was no window, so no way to improve matters. Issues went beyond that though, the bathroom door didn’t close, the shower curtain was an actual fabric curtain which didn’t dry (on account of the lack of ventilation) and smelled, meaning you left the shower still feeling a bit unclean. The light bulbs flickered for a couple of minutes when you first turned them on and wall fixtures fell off if you touched them. The rooms are also located around a central court yard where guests are encouraged to sit and drink coffee/tea, meaning I was woken every morning at 6am by people chatting directly outside our door. I was convinced to stay by the strength of the reviews and felt compelled to review as well to warn people off. This hotel was cheap but I would strongly encourage anyone to pay a little more elsewhere. On another note, I will say the staff were pleasant and friendly

Some things we liked:

1. The location was close to Plaza de Armas.
2. The staff was nice.
3. The room has a balcony, clean, and comfortable bed.
4. There was a view of the mountain from the living room.
5. There were microwave, large fridge, stove, pans, plates, utensils, dining table, couch, and tv in the room.

Some things that could be improved:

1. The hot water takes a while to come out. The cold water knob is actually hot water and vice versa.

2. There were no extra towels/bath mats. We had to use one of the two towels they provided as a bath mat.

3. This next one is not their fault, but it is good to know before booking this place: the location is on a busy street right before a red light. Loud noises from pedestrians and cars passing and honking non-stop. If you book anywhere in the center of cusco or around Plaza de Armas, this is to be expected. If you don't like this, book somewhere else like in San Blas or anywhere further away from the city center.

Great location in the historic town center. Although it is on a busy street, it is easy to get on a taxi/Uber to airport or train station when needed. The hotel center courtyard is a good resting and social area. We were welcomed with Coca tea and helped with our suitcase to upstairs. Although check-out is 10 am, but you can leave your luggage in their office. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They are on WhatsApp all the time so that you can get responses right away and open the front door/gate for you without problems. Also, there is a working door bell next to the front gate. Room is clean, cozy, and well maintained.

We stayed three separate nights at Casa Cavassa, we tried the apartment and the twin share rooms and both were very comfortable. I enjoyed having the balcony in the apartment. The location was fantastic we could walk to the main square, lots of restaurants, and the San Pedro market, which I recommend checking out for souvenirs. Staff were very friendly as well the cats. They helped with bags up the stairs, which was a major plus after weary returns from hiking. Room for improvement only comes from maybe providing more towels (eg. bathmat and hand towels). Thanks for the great stay!

Sadly the hotel has lots of opportunity areas. My first and biggest is that the bathroom door doesn’t close, therefore having no privacy. We found hair on our newly check in room and several wood with nails were coming off the floor and headrest, making it extremely safely.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, the owner was very kindly with us, she gave tips for restaurant and she kept our backpacks even the night when we went to macchu picchu. The room is very comfortable and clean, very big bed, nice bathroom with shower and hot water. Nice position about 5 minutes walk for the main square. Thank you

I didn’t feel comfortable with one of the resident cats roaming around and jumping onto the table and my bag. There are pets in other hotels in Peru but most of them leave the guests alone. Not all guests are comfortable with animals.
Some of the rooms are not well-maintained in this hotel such as the door of the bathroom.
The staff are pretty helpful and friendly though.
