We stayed at Sol Plaza Inn in early July 2013

- Great location within walking distance of Plaza de Armas and restaurants
- Good and free breakfast served as early as 5:30 which is great for mornings with an early start
- Courtyard and at least a couple of sitting areas to relax in. This is helpful particularly since our quadruple room was pretty tight in space.
- English speaking front desk staff
- Free Wifi in rooms

Please note:
- There is no central air. The room heater did not function throughout the night. However, the thick blankets and comforters on top of them were more than enough to keep us warm.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and the location was an advantage to the little time that we had in Cusco. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes walking to get to the main plaza.
The rooms are small and you don't really have much privacy. But then again, the staff people are very nice, anything you need and they will make an effort to help you as much as they can.

This hotel sufficed our trip, location great within walking distance to town central t, staff great although language barrier clearly evident at times.
Given the chance again I would choose something a little more- old carpet and printed sheets from the 90' s not really my thing. However if you're looking for just somewhere to sleep with good access and fantastic laundry service heres your place. They even have free internet!
Awesome peruvian/chinese up the road to the right and bon la diet across the road, to DIE for! We tried everything!

First of all the reason for the two stars, I stayed here twice on my recent trip to Peru once at the beginning and at the end. This was booked through a tour company so had no say where I was staying. For the first stay I would have given it 1 star and for the second 3 stars so have gone halfway with 2 stars.

The hotel is in an ideal location on one of the streets just off the Plaza de Armas. When you enter the hotel it is set around a very nice courtyard and the lady on the front desk was friendly. But the room I had when I first arrived was terrible, the bed was very uncomfortable, the bed linen dark and patterned (a bad sign in any hotel, you need white linen to ensure it is clean), the pillow was really bad, there was no room to put anything, no desk and worse of all there was frosted glass on the door so the people outside the room could blatantly see me in the room. There was no curtain or anything to cover it. It would definitely not be suitable for a frisky couple as you would have an audience in no time. Also the Walls where paper thin allowing you to hear everything going on on that floor including conversations, people being sick and by far the worse people going to the bathroom both number one and number two.

Breakfast was a mix of bread, ham and cheese but as the ham and cheese were left out with no cover I gave them a miss.

I did have laundry done there and the price was very reasonable, I think about 7 Soles per kilo.

The second time I stayed there the room was better, away from the main area and bigger.

But reception did not pass a message on from my tour company informing me of a change to my flight, which meant I could have had an extra hour in bed. To me that is not good enough, it would have taken anything to slip a note under my door to tell me.

I would say the only good thing about this hotel is the location and the friendliness of some of the staff.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and were pleased with our choice. Location was great ,close to many restaurants and within walking distance to the train staion. The owner and staff were very helpful, giving us advice and helping us with transport. Breakfast in the morning was fine and internet was available in the lobby. We loved the town of Ollantaytambo and would recommend anyone to stay there when visitin Macchu Picchu.

The staff was rude and unhelpful, and the hotel was poorly designed. Other hotels we stayed at nearby in Cusco were a far better value, particularly Amaru Hostal II.

This hotel doesn't have central heating in the rooms. Night time in the mountains gets pretty cold, and there are only small electric heaters in the rooms. Thus, when you arrive, you room will be cold for the first few hours.

The showers are tiny and spray water all over the bathroom floor. The staff was very rude and unhelpful, which we found to be very out of the ordinary for Cusco.

The worst part of this place was that our hotel room door contained a large window. I have never seen that done before in any hotel. The reason is that the lights that are on all night out in the courtyard so people can see to get to their rooms shine right through the hotel room doors and light your room up like a stadium. We hardly got any sleep in this place and were very dissatisfied.

First of all room was booked for 2 people for 2 nights over the Internet by someone who has traveled extensively and knows how to book a room. Upon arrival the hotel staff said the room was booked for 4 people with no negotiations. Also the room prices listed on the wall were approximately 25 USA dollars less that what we were actually paying from Internet booking. The staff once again would not reason or make the situation right. We had just flown in from the USA and had one night to stay and they least had our credit card number from the booking. Simply a Mess. We have Stayed in many hostels and this place was far louder and dirtier. The room smelt like raw sewage especially in the bathroom and the stench was soo strong actually is gag. The shower had lukewarm water and didnot drain. TV played loudly all night in the downstairs open area without local Peruvians laughing and partying. We had to ask them to be quiet which did not help. Just a mess. Bad experience. Overpaid for a dump. Stay in a hostel. It will be nicer and people more helpful for a lot cheaper

We've stayed here on a way to our Inka Trail trek. Excellent place - 3 days in the centre of Cusco - the hotel is in 20 steps from Plaza des Armas allowed us to adopt to high altitude and vist all Cusco's sightseeings. Incredible experience. The hotel breakfasts are rich i fruits, which I liked especially. There is a luggage room where we were allowed to leave our luggage during the time of uor hiking. Very comfortable rooms, and there always was a hot water in the shower.
