I have stayed twice now at Waman Qorikancha and I highly recommend it. The stars at this hotel are the staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We still talk about our first stay here when on the morning of our arrival the staff invited us into the dining room and gave us breakfast even before we had checked in. Remarkable. The service was excellent again during our more recent stay. The rooms are spacious and clean with huge comfortable beds. Very modern bathrooms with lovely showers. They have Direct TV with a bunch of channels to pass the time when you are adjusting to the altitude. Good rooms if you are travelling with kids because they have two level rooms with a large bed in the second room. A basic breakfast is served every day with nice coffee. The hotel is well located a short walk to the central square and very close to historic sites.

I stayed here for two night, it was supposed to be four, but we were stuck in Agua Calientes because of the protests in Cusco. The hotel didn't charged us for for the two nights that we didn't make it, and that was very valuable for us. The stuff is beyond amazing, full with smiles and very helpful, they were going overboard to assist us with any needs that we have.

The rooms are huge and lots of space, the views from the room second floor was amazing, the bed was comfortable and big and the restroom very clean and nice.

They have coca tea at all the time. The breakfast was very good and tasty. Their restaurant have tasty food, it does take a while to cook and bring the food but that means that they are cooking from scratch.

The hotel is located right next to Qorikancha in the small street between, location is great for start your stroll or get a taxi.

I definitely recommend this hotel for everyone that's visiting Cusco.

Waman Qorikancha is almost a tale of two completely different hotels. The initial impression is that of a beautiful space with a tasteful design and look. It feels as a "labor of love" by someone who wants this place to look great. The employees are exceedingly polite and helpful. The location in the middle of town on an old street right outside the Qorikancha cannot be beat. Rooms are large and beds are huge and with excellent mattresses. If that was all, I would have given it 5 stars - but that's only part of the story.

We stayed at this hotel twice in different rooms. The more we stayed, the more it appeared that the actual work of design, maintenance and upkeep is performed by people who do not quite know what they are doing. The list of drawbacks is going to be long, so I will keep it as concise as possible:

Room 1:
- lots of dirt and dust all around the corners. back of the TV is filthy
- zero storage space (no closet, not even a hook to hang stuff on)
- no hooks or hangers anywhere in the bathroom area, no bathroom counter space (have to keep toiletries on the rear side of the TV stand).
- drapes that cover the entrance and window (facing the glassed balcony) are extremely transparent, so room is very bright at night
- serious plumbing issues - drains got clogged on our second night, so shower could not be used, as the entire room got flooded by water backing up from the drain. Hotel staff was apologetic but offered no solution. By the morning drain was plugged so hard that when toilet was flushed or sink used - brown excrement came up in the shower (disgusting)

Room 2:
- same issues with dust in the corners, also some mold or embedded dirt in the wall paint
- a few towel hooks in the bathroom are located on the wall opposite the shower, so cannot be used when showering
- still no storage space of any kind, nor any counter space in the bathroom
- frosted glass doors to the balcony are completely transparent and let a lot of light in at night
- vintage table lamps come with broken electric plugs that do not stay plugged in or cause arcing (not safe)
- errors in plumbing - crossed hot and cold water lines in the sink, insufficient hot water pressure (so that beautiful massage shower unit cannot operate and you must shower by rubbing showerhead directly on your body)
- toilet seat that was too small for the toilet
- carpentry all around bears signs of measurement (construction marks that were not cleaned up), and looks amateur quality: broken tile where they tried to install something and failed, sink stand is shimmed with pieces of wood and not attached to the floor, toilet door shimmed with large gaps between door and wall and not closing, the list goes on
- as an illustration of shoddy work quality, my partner got hit by a large (6' long) piece of decorative wood that fell from the ceiling right on her head (!!!) when she tried to open the bathroom sliding door. Fortunately, it missed hitting her with sharp protruding screws by mere inches, avoiding serious injury only by chance. Again, staff was apologetic (and offered us a small gift the next day), but this is not what you expect from the hotel.

Breakfast is fairly minimal, similar to what we had in most hotels in Peru, however, unfortunately, served completely cold - even pancakes are served as if directly from refrigerator.

All of the above is enough to rate this place 1 star (or 0) and never come back. However, I did see signs of ongoing work at the hotel (wifi access point was replaced in a few days between our visits with a newer model, though wifi still remained unbearably slow). So, perhaps the place is a work in progress. The people running it seem nice, and it looks like their heart is in the right place. So, I am going to rate it a 3 and give it a chance.

If owners are reading this, IMO there are several things that you can easily do to quickly bring this place up to a decent standard:
1. Clean those rooms. A good pass with vacuum cleaner hose all along the perimeter and behind furniture will do wonders to it.
2. Fix the damn plumbing - get a professional to work on it. This is not negotiable.
3. Put a closet or a shelf with hangers in every room, there is plenty of space to do so.
4. Add towel and clothes hangers right next to each shower stall.
5. Add vanity space/shelf near a sink - it will not only help your guests but also keep wooden sink bases safer (as guests won't have to keep wet soap on those)
6. Needless to say - hire a decent carpenter to do the work, and don't just hope that a few flimsy screws will hold a large wooden beam to the ceiling.
7. And get a right size toilet seat - how hard can it be?

If the people running this place clean up their act, this will be a top notch property deserving of 5 stars. If not - being extremely nice will not make for all the issues, and a rating of 1 star will inevitably follow.

This used to be my first choice in Cuzco …. It’s now a shadow of itself. The owners got greedy and have over stuffed the building with rooms, even the basement is being cluttered with new rooms. The result: service staff is overwhelmed, breakfast is a disaster, food runs out, there aren’t even enough coffee cups !! Come on… this is just greed

This hotel is very hit or miss with the rooms. We had a very large group staying here, and each room was a little different. Some had a safe, some didn’t, some had a closet, some didn’t, some heaters worked…...and yup, some didn’t. The furnishings and layout was different in every room. The first room we were given was one that had nowhere for clothes, no safe, bad outlet configuration, no phone or security locks on the doors. We went to the front desk to see if there were any other rooms that had a safe and more outlets. The lady at the front desk, “Luc”, completely changed our experience.
She was very friendly and quickly started walking us around the hotel and found a room that was being cleaned. It was larger, had a safe, a desk, a dresser and room for clothes.. Pretty much what we needed for our stay. They finished the room quickly, helped us move everything into the new room and made sure we were satisfied. Very impressive service and hospitality.
Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun, was literally a few feet out of our window. There is also a very nice sitting area on the roof where you have a gorgeous view of Cusco and the Convent of Santo Domingo. There are two restaurants there, one just past the lobby which serves a nice breakfast every morning, and a very good menu restaurant on the second floor right at the location.
Good shopping and convenience stores within just a minute or two walking. We could get to Plaza de Armas from here by foot in about 5 minutes.
Another great attraction at this hotel is the collection of Juan de la Cruz Machicado paintings! There are dozens of his original works in this hotel, including in some of the rooms, fantastic paintings by a beloved Peruvian artist!!
They stored our luggage for 5 days while we were on the Inka Trail, and had rooms ready for all of us upon our return.
The only problem through the stay was a foul smell that vented from the sink, tub, and shower as any water was run, we remedied this just by closing the tub and sink drains and pulling the shower mat over the drain when it was not in use, not too big of a deal.
Thanks to all at Waman Qorikancha for a great stay in Cusco!

The hotel has almost everything to be good, but some details (important and functional) are missing.
You arrive at a place located at 3,400m and the hotel doesn't have elevators, but it's ok, it's possible to relieve this.
You are with your family (4 people) and in the room there aren't closets or hooks to hang clothes or even towels, but it's okay, I can survive with this inconvenience too.
But when you arrive at 10pm after one long day at mountain trip and you want just to take a nice and hot shower, and you discover that there isn't water, ou'll be very disappointed...
So, you go down to the reception check what is happening (because there isn't telephone in the rooms) and the person at the reception inform you that this inconvenient is "normal" to happen at the end of the day.
Positives points: large rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, at room good smart TV (50pol curved screen) with cable channels, good and clean bedding, good oil heaters, in a very nice hotel ambient, and a very central localisation, near of everything.
Other negative points:
Box with water leaking, one window with no glass and no seal, just a moldure locking the wind and cold.

We stayed here before and after trekking on the Inca trail. Very large, comfortable beds with lots of very nice pillows. The rooms were light, airy, large and very clean. Tastefully decorated. Hot water in the sink, shower, and huge tub. Its really nice that they provide a space heater. Our rooms were very quiet. It was difficult to find for our taxi driver and for our tour operator to find, however. The name of the hotel is not visible from the street. Just tell them Casa Qoricancha, which is the restaurant in the same compound. Great location, but hard to find. The breakfast was very good, as was one dinner we had at the restaurant within the hotel. Dinner was a little slow, but the restaurant is pleasant and warm, so it was fine. Very helpful staff.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. As usual, on a whim, we booked this hotel when traveling from Bolivia to Cusco. Wow. Upon arriving in Cusco, I called the hotel to have the shuttle come pick us up. (Silly me, I didn't plan ahead to have them pick us up) Well, we waited for 10 minutes as the man on the phone had told me and I realized I hadn't even given our name. Out of nowhere, a well dressed man calls my significant other by name. He greets us and grabs my bags to put in a nice sedan. We get in and he starts explaining about the hotel and about Cusco. When we arrive at the Waman Qorikancha, no signs are in sight... we enter a beautiful home with a big courtyard. We cross the courtyard and arrive in the restaurant. Beautiful. German (our amazing host) sits us down and gives us coca tea. He then brings us to our room... a giant suite complete with a garden tub.... gorgeous!! I could go on with my story about the amazing first impression they gave us, but this review would be too long. I am a clean freak/ germaphobic .... this hotel is pristine. I slept on their king size bed worry free because it was crisp and clean. Oh yeah, every room we stayed in has a king size bed and a giant tv. (We came back on 3 separate occasions) Breakfast was served downstairs in the restaurant and everything was fresh and amazing. This hotel (namely, German and the sweet front desk girls) really goes out of its way to make your stay in Cusco a luxurious experience.
