Loved Casa Cartagena. It was so perfectly located near the Plaza and the staff rushed to help us with our luggage, provide us with welcome drinks, serve us breakfast and simply make our stay enjoyable. We left for a night to go to Machupicchu and the staff stored our luggage and had it waiting in our new room upon our...

We stayed for 2 nights in August with 2 teenage girls, we were booked into a Master suite with a mezzanine. Our first night was disturbed by noise on the street below- shouting and dogs barking. when we complained we were moved to a beautiful upgraded quieter suite which was amazing. Breakfast was delicious with wonderful coffee. There are free...

I really appreciate it when businesses respect the integrity and history of architectural buildings, thus I liked that the original structure and layout were maintained, bridging colonial architecture to present day trends. Entering this hotel, you are greeted with a modern and sophisticated lobby that looks more like a trendy living room filled with whimsical furniture, bar attachment included. Speaking...

Writing this on a superbly comfortable bed in our large room with a gorgeous bath. The heat works well. The staff is remarkably kind,as they were at our hotel in Lima (Peruvian national trait?) We had a terrific time in the bar last night learning to make Cisco sours and drinking them with some nice hors,d'purebred. Tonight another cocktail will...

Granted , I live in Los Angeles , but when we registered at the lobby the poor woman checking us in was bundled up in several alpaca sweaters and a woven wool hat, so it was not just me who feels the cold at this hotel. . The room we had was very large and had all the amenities but...

We stayed at this hotel for a total of 5 nights during our trip to Peru and we were just blown away with how great it was. The building itself is beautifully appointed - a wonderful mix of old and ultra modern which I think works fantastically well, so much so that I took a load of photos for inspiration...

Like many other hotels in Cusco, Casa Cartagena is situated in a colonial-era religious building. It has been carefully restored, but I found the hyper-modern furnishings in the room somewhat off-key and not always the most comfortable. Very luxurious nonetheless, coupled with excellent service, including a welcome pot of tea and refreshments. The breakfast was not quite at the level...

Staying here was a memorable experience, the place is a very tasteful restoration of an old monastery, and was a very luxurious place to stay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were beautiful, and it was extremely quiet and civilized. The restaurant was great for both the included breakfast and other meals. Great location, about a block...

I stayed here for one night after spending nearly 1 week in the Amazonian jungle. I needed a quiet place to work as well as to relax before catching my flight back to the US the next day, and I was so grateful for the peaceful and luxurious setting. Wifi was reliable. My room was on a 2nd story with...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Cartagena CuscoHigh in the Peruvian Andes lies the historic city of Cuzco, famous for its unique blend of Spanish and Incan cultures. Located just off a tranquil square behind the main plaza of Cuzco, Casa Cartagena Boutique Hotel & Spa Cusco emerges after years of restoration, which respected the original design of the historic house, to become one of the most exclusive boutique hotels in the city. Its walls of carved stone, which combines warmth, elegance and perfection, invite you to experience the fascinating magic and traditional mysticism that will transport you through time in this historic Spanish house declared a cultural heritage site of Peru. Its lovely atmosphere was built on an ancient Incan site, occupied by the ruling nobility of that time and from which it takes its name: Casa Cartagena, former property of the local Spanish ruler of Cuzco, Don Fernando Cartagena and Santa Cruz. This luxury hotel in Cuzco is an intimate refuge that has only sixteen spacious and comfortable suites, which perfectly blend the modern with the ancestral and luxury with the historical. The rooms are distributed symmetrically along a spacious patio of your dreams where time is suspended. It is located in the historic center of Cuzco, which was declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site.Recovery from an exhausting trip to Machu Picchu or the Sacred Valley of the Incas with our Qoya Spa will be something truly unequalled. It can be perfectly complemented with a delicious dinner in our restaurant which offers the best of local cuisine, "La bodega de la Chola", where poet Pablo Neruda was inspired and Che Guevara shared bohemian nights; it is considered one of the best restaurants in Cuzco. All of these unique features of Casa Cartagena and our warm and personalized service will make your stay in Cuzco an experience you will never forget. ... more   less
