We stayed two nights in this hotel. Rooms are huge, I mean huge! Decoration is very modern and pure, which is the complete opposite of the lovely, very old building. Staff is friendly, they have a nice restaurant that serves good dinner and an amazing breakfast buffet. If the weather allows, have your breakfast outside, it's beautiful. We didn't got...

Great location in the historic centre near Cusco cathedral, and the staff are the real standouts. Very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay successful. My mum had quite a hard time with altitude sickness, but was very well looked after. Beautiful boutique style too, perhaps not styled to the nines, but charming and comfortable, surrounding...

We started our Peru trip in Cusco at Casa Cartagena for two nights. They were enormously welcoming which made the effects of the altitude more bearable. The service is excellent and personable, and the property is charming and tranquil. Breakfasts, always a key benchmark, were superb, and we wished our appetites were less affected by the altitude. The pool and...

We were delighted to see how lovely this small boutique hotel is, with every room a suite and some with patios, tables and chairs. We were surprised and even more delighted to discover that we were given the presidential suite, a very large suite comprised of an elegant, huge, beautifully appointed salon overlooking the beautiful courtyard through large floor to...

Casa Cartagena was the perfect base for a busy visit to Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Externally the building is traditional but the internal spaces and decor are modern and extremely stylish. The bedrooms are on two floors and arranged around an internal garden. All have either a balcony or terrace with table and chairs. Judging by our room, the...

Classic colonial architecture with comfortable rooms off a beautiful courtyard. Very quiet a night. The hotel is located within a five minute walk to the main square and short walks to excellent restaurants. The staff made us feel like a part of the family. Fantastic breakfasts, they'll make you just about anything.

Behind a cobbled street lies thus beautiful hotel set in a old colonial house. It is rated 4star but we would give it five. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff most of whom speak good English. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Cartagena CuscoHigh in the Peruvian Andes lies the historic city of Cuzco, famous for its unique blend of Spanish and Incan cultures. Located just off a tranquil square behind the main plaza of Cuzco, Casa Cartagena Boutique Hotel & Spa Cusco emerges after years of restoration, which respected the original design of the historic house, to become one of the most exclusive boutique hotels in the city. Its walls of carved stone, which combines warmth, elegance and perfection, invite you to experience the fascinating magic and traditional mysticism that will transport you through time in this historic Spanish house declared a cultural heritage site of Peru. Its lovely atmosphere was built on an ancient Incan site, occupied by the ruling nobility of that time and from which it takes its name: Casa Cartagena, former property of the local Spanish ruler of Cuzco, Don Fernando Cartagena and Santa Cruz. This luxury hotel in Cuzco is an intimate refuge that has only sixteen spacious and comfortable suites, which perfectly blend the modern with the ancestral and luxury with the historical. The rooms are distributed symmetrically along a spacious patio of your dreams where time is suspended. It is located in the historic center of Cuzco, which was declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site.Recovery from an exhausting trip to Machu Picchu or the Sacred Valley of the Incas with our Qoya Spa will be something truly unequalled. It can be perfectly complemented with a delicious dinner in our restaurant which offers the best of local cuisine, "La bodega de la Chola", where poet Pablo Neruda was inspired and Che Guevara shared bohemian nights; it is considered one of the best restaurants in Cuzco. All of these unique features of Casa Cartagena and our warm and personalized service will make your stay in Cuzco an experience you will never forget. ... more   less
