We stayed in Samay Wasi hostel for a week in January 2020. The staff, views and service were amazing. Completely quiet and cozy accomodation, with delicious breakfast even if you are heading out on a trek or tour at 2 am the staff will have hot coffee, fresh bread and fruit ready for you. We were collected by James Aguilar from the airport, and he was an amazing Trip Organiser. With James we were able to book the Sacred Valley tour, Cusco city Tour, and our trip to Machu Picchu. Every tour was incredible with amazing guides that were full of information, friendly and multi lingual. The Machu Picchu tour was second to none: we had a taxi to the train, trains to Aguas Calientes and a private tour guide for the walk around the site. James even helped when we got hit with altitude sickness, along with recommending local restaurants away from the tourist trails. We are so so grateful to Samay Wasi and to James, we left Cusco with sad hearts and can’t wait to come back again!

The reviews didn't lie. This is the best view in Cusco, up top the hill with a complete open balcony view of the entire city and mountains. But they were also correct that it's a bit of a hike to get up to it, even if you get dropped off by a taxi right at the base of the stairs, it's still another two small flights. This was the perfect way to end my trip in Peru, but I'm glad I didn't stay here my first few nights in Cusco as the elevation made me sick and I wouldn't have wanted to walk uphill with bags. Wifi worked great, breakfast was nothing special (bread, butter, jam, orange juice) but still nice to be provided and wifi worked well. You could hear the party/music celebration happening at the central square from here at night which was fun. This is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy the view day or night. No charging outlets in room, though. Staff was attentive and set me up with a cab to the airport and didn't mind holding my bags safely for the day after checkout. Complimentary unlimited coca tea, of course. Use it.

The attention was great due to Martin, the hotel manager. He was always keen to help and provide tips to better enjoy Cuzco. Additionally, the hotel has a terrace with an amazing view, perfect for having breakfast. The kitchen is always available and coca leaves too, which comes in very handy to prevent altitude sickness.

I stayed for 5 nights in total in a dorm as a solo female and felt super comfortable. It’s a very relaxed vibe and cosy atmosphere. The shower is warm with high pressure which is amazing! The free tea all day is a nice touch too. James was incredibly helpful, he picked me up from the bus station when I arrived, helped me plan my transport/tours for Machu Picchu and rainbow mountain, and whilst I was on the tours he checked in to see how I was doing which was very kind. I would definitely recommend staying here, I think it’s really good value.

Good hotel with an amazing view. Breakfast is included as well as airport shuffle.
Rooms are fine, and the water in the showers are really hot! You won't feel cold at night thanks to the heating and all the blankets on the bed.
The only downside is that the way up there is quite steep and there were some ants in one of the walls of out room.

Everyone working at this Hostel was extremely friendly and made sure I had a good time during my stay. They helped me with recommendations for things to do, advice on how to stay safe, and they would even meet me/walk with me somewhere at times when it was dark and I asked for someone to be with me. They're also very generous in that they went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to have a safe and enjoyable time, which was especially important as I was traveling alone as a woman. In addition, the view of the city was breathtaking and the cat was adorable. Totally worth staying here!

The rooms were great, exactly as described, so there was no disappointment there. The free breakfasts were also very good so I’d recommend eating them if you get the chance. If you plans on doing any trips/tours/excursions I would very highly recommend that you book them through James Aguilar, he was so helpful and helped us get very reasonable prices too. The stay in general was amazing and I could not recommend this hostel more to any travellers.

We loved our stay at Samay Wasi. It was very homely and comfortable. I couldn’t fault the staff, always willing to help with a smile on their face. They let us hold luggage there whilst we did the Inca Trail and other excursions, making life super simple for us! James even booked us a tour to Puno and Lake Titicaca, making sure that everything was taken care of. He was always a phone call away. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you’re in Cusco. It’s inexpensive, comfortable and the staff were amazing!

The location of the property is great, just a 5 minute walk to the main part of town. The staff is excellent and can help you with excursions you want or anything else you need. The balcony has a stunning view of the city, and is a great place to relax after a day of activities. Wifi is great, kitchen has everything you need. Would 100% recommend to anybody staying in Cuzco!

I had a wondeful 4-day stay at Samay Wasi Youth hostel in March. Location was conveniently close to Plaza de Armas and about a 15 minute walk to San Pedro market. I was in a double room that was very clean, had comfy beds and hot showers! Breakfast was provided and included delicious fresh orange juice, bread and eggs cooked to order. Free cocoa tea and hot water available all the time. The outdoor balcony has the BEST view of Cusco and was a perfect place to hang out with Chuchu the kitty and drink tea! Special thank you to James Aguilar for picking us up from the airport, and arranging for a ride back to the airport. He helped us get student tickets (cheaper) for a Cusco city and archaeological park tour and walked us downtown to secure our tickets. James was very kind, funny, and helpful and definitely made our experience in Cusco smoother and more enjoyable!
