Behind the façade, a typical Spanish town palace awaits you. A two-level central court (now fitted with a roof) surrounded with the guestrooms and the public rooms. The public rooms still have a ‘grandeur’ atmosphere but without being a museum; you can enter them, have a seat, read a book, have a drink and feel just like home. Behind the...

We staid for three nights at the hotel, which was a real joy as such a brilliantly renovated building. The pictures really do not do the place justice. The gardens and flowers in the hotel are stunning. On arriving our room had rose petals sprinkled across which after a long journey was a nice touch. Each night was also a...

It is an antique house from an Ecuadorian Aristocrat from the Spanish time, turned into a hotel about 20 years ago. Very well conserved, wood, floors, furnishings, etc. There are amazing pieces of furniture from long time ago. Everyone at the hotel well trainded to give an excellent service to guests. There is a beautiful garden at the back part...

When I made my reservation I asked for a Hypoallergenic room because I am very allergic. We arrived quite late and went straight to the suite. It was not up to the standards that we expected, and it was by no means a hypoallergenic room. There was a wool comforter on the bed and feather pillows. Needless to say, I...

A few blocks from the main square is a romantic antique-filled mansion that will take you back in time. The staff is warm and friendly, the bar cozy. It is a relaxing home after a day of touring. The website pictures are accurate. The inner patio can be chilly on a cold wet day, but there is hot tea and...

A step back in time! This courtyard boutique hotel offers Colonia charm, superb dining and terrific service. We stayed in a suite, so can not comment on the standard room rooms. However, the suites offer true comfort and support. A beautiful oasis in the city.

A friend and I recently stayed at Mansion Alcazar for a week. Everything--the room, gardens, restaurant, and especially the staff--was wonderful. We were attending language school in Cuenca and especially appreciated the patience and encouragement of the staff as we practiced our frequently incomprehensible Spanish! The hotel is beautiful and impeccably maintained, and very well located in the heart of...

We were looking for a restaurant open on Sunday in Cuenca and happened upon the Alcazar. We were welcomed into a beautiful garden setting in a cozy, glassed solarium - so elegant. The prices were moderate, but the service, food and presentation were top class. I could not recommend this hotel/restaurant more highly. We only had dinner here, we did not...
