You might walk past the outside of Los Balcones without a second glance but one step inside and you're likely to want to stay. The hotel has been carefully restored to its 19th century grandeur. Accommodations are comfortable and the staff and service excellent. A...More
We spent two nights in this hotel. The room was spacious and clean as well as the bathroom. Unfortunately we didn’t have a balcony or a view.
Breakfast was good and staff was very kind.
Good value for money.

LATAM has several flights a day from Quito, and it's about a half hour in the air. The planes are relatively new Airbus 319s and 320s, and LATAM (formerly LAN) has an excellent safety record. It does not appear that you can fly directly from Guayaquil to Cuenca, as you have to fly to Quito first. The bus ride is long, and many buses don't have an on-board bathroom. We booked our one-way flight from Cuenca to Quito only 3 days in advance, and it was $167 for two adults.
