Decent location for walking around Cuenca. The hotel was very nice inside with a lovely dining/sitting area. The rooms were a good size and the bathroom was clean. The wifi was slightly patchy but compared to other places I'd been in Ecuador it wasn't bad at all.

We arrived in the historic walled town of Cuenca "Old Town" without a reservation, we stopped at several hotels on the way in to check the availability and cost of accommodation until we found the Gran Hotel. The Gran Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of "Old Town" near the Plaza Calderon and many other attractions including the City...

It has been almost 2 years to the day since we last visited the Gran Hotel. It is as inviting as ever and the only change we noticed was in the tables. Some new staff but still all very friendly and helpful. The Hotel has a beautiful inner court year surrounded by the rooms upstairs and down. The larger portion...

One block from the park and located near all the restaurants and bars famous in this city stands an authentic spanish hotel. Service is great and friendly. Free breakfast each morning. $25/night per person. I did not have much luck with the wi-fi connection

The first floor room was nice, big modern bathroom, breakfast was included and very good. We had lunch one day and it was $5.80 for both of us. Internet was very spotty....in and out a lot. Nice and comfortable place for the money! 😊

Booked a weekend through a booking website. Our plans changed a bit so we tried to change our reservation which was no problem! Unfortunately our positive feelings faded when we arrived. The hotel is located in a quiet area of the city center. Away from the restaurants etc. The rooms are old and worn and the cleaning isn't done too...

Nice big room with TV and big bathroom. Breakfast was outstanding, free water, nice common area and the location was perfect. Close to everything. The internet worked well most of the time but occasionally wouldn't let us connect. Really friendly, helpful staff. We were on the ground floor right on the restaurant and it could get a little noisy in...

We stayed three nights in a room with a double and a twin bed. Very little English is spoken here. Most rooms encircle a large courtyard where breakfast is served. Early mornings are noisy with breakfast prep and the TV on in the courtyard. Wifi was sporadic and not reliable. The location is convenient for walking in the city. Beds...

My wife and I had Gran Hotel booked for us via our Spanish School in Quito, as we were coming to Cuenca for another period of Spanish school plus travel. What a fantastic find it was. Our viewing of other similar accommodations in the area convinced us we would not be moving. We had a large room (#216) overlooking THE...

“Ground floor rooms got a bit noisy when the restaurant was full, although we didn't stay up top so I can't say if the sound carried up there also. It is an open courtyard so they might all be the same.”

“Our room #216 was not on front of hotel but then that street is one way and not very active at night. Compared to Quito this was a soundproof hotel. One Caution make sure they turn OFF THE walkway LIGHT AT NIGHT which is outside your window. Lots of other light below and elsewhere for ample lighting”
