I've stayed at Kookaburra for quite a while now, and I'm only leaving because my visa has expired. Rick (landlord) is a cool guy, very accommodating. The location is great - walking distance to everything, but the suites are set in the back so there's really no street noise. And one of the best restaurants in town is right downstairs....

This is a great quiet option for those wanting to be in El Centro and within walking distance of everything in the historic district. Orlando and his wife and team keep the place clean and very well managed. I recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive short term stay.

We stayed at Kookaburra for 3 nights earlier this month. We had researched on TA months ago and we were not disappointed. Rick was gracious enough to pick us up at the airport. We found the apartments to be as advertised - they were in a great location for walking to key sites, markets, and restaurants. Our party of 4...

We stayed at the Kookaburra while scouting out apartments in the city. The suite was extremely comfortable. Hot water, comfortable bed, quiet (even though it is located on the busiest street in the city), small kitchen facility (but just enough to make it more convenient than a hotel room). Rick and Carol were extremely welcoming and accommodating. I can't even...

Rick and Carol could not have been more accomadating. There manager Orlando even waited for us a the bus terminal when we were late getting in. Rick and Carol took the time to show us around the city and made us feel at home. Orlando couldn´t do enough for us. The only drawback there was nobody on sight, Although they...

We were referred to the Kookaburra by a friend who resided there at that time of the referral but he had moved out before our arrival because, as we learned later, the owner had, “withheld payment of the maid.” This is relevant because we never had the benefit of a maid in cleaning or servicing our room. Before making our...

Well tripadvisor readers I’m “just” going to state a few facts. First, this person stayed for 1 week and then paid the bill, no comments or complaints. Second, he “extended” for another week and then left without paying or saying a word…until I emailed him asking for payment and received this laundry list. We intend for all of our guests...

Lovely apt. in the historic center of Cuenca, and one block above the beautiful Rio Tomebamba. This is conveniently located behind the Banana's Cafe (good food) with a private entry and small courtyard - very quiet despite the hustle and bustle outside. I selected the upstairs apt., and although the stairs are steep and narrow, received assistance with my luggage....

Marlene and I arrived late at night and our first night in Ecuador started out with a very pleasant surprise, Carol met us outside as we got out of the taxi and we were taken up to our room - simply and perfectly appointed; clean, comfortable with all of the necessities. Hot water on demand, good wifi, very comfortable bed,...

We have just spent 4 nights here. Rick was there to greet us and show us our accommodation.....we arrived very early in the morning and he kindly allowed us access to our room as it was vacant! For that we were truly grateful....thanks again Rick! The fridge was stocked with some necessities for an early morning coffee or tea. What...

We came upon Kookaburra by chance, lucky us! Rick's little suites right in the historic old town suited us perfectly. Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all in excellent condition, set behind the (daytime) cafe which serves great breakfasts and lunches. The two suites are in a tiny rear courtyard well away from the traffic, a 5 min walk in all directions...
