Was there in November 2014 for the Ecuador Photo Journey and stayed here several nights and used as our base for the first half of journey. This place is way out from any major city so don't expect 4 star accommodations, however, the place is clean and the food prepared there on site is outstanding especially the soup. To see...

This lodge in the cloud forest near Mindo comprises simple clean and welcoming accommodation. Nancy and her staff provide an informal cheerful and courteous service. The food is no frills but very tasty, promptly served and ample. Breakfasts are enhanced by views of the toucans, tanagers and other exotics visiting the fruit bar just outside the window and the outside...

Quoted price on website does not include tax. Overpriced. Viewed many new birds. As amateur birders we preferred Hostal El Jardin del Descanso in Mindo. While we were there a photography tour took over the deck and feeders with all their equipment. Manager Nancy and volunteer Sophie were hospitable and friendly. Gluten and lactose intolerance readily accommodated. Showers were cold.

My sister and I stayed for two nights mid-September of 2015 and wish we had had at least one more day. The hummingbirds were amazing and lots of other birds around the lodge and at the blind. Nancy was a great hostess and Rosalita served wonderful meals. The area has many birding spots to visit as well so never a...

Stayed two nights did not have that much luck on the trails but lots of action around the lodge feeders. The food is ok and the rooms are small with comfortable beds. Nancy takes good care of her guests. We arrived in our own car no problem you can rent one at the airport. We must of captured at least...

We stayed at Tandayapa Bird Lodge for 3 nights as part of a birding holiday in Ecuador. It essentially caters for the needs of fairly serious birders (which is what I am and my wife isn't); early mornings and early evenings. If you're looking for a great place for a social I'd look elsewhere but... if it's nature and birds...

The patio is set up for all to enjoy the hummingbirds. Three feeders keep them coming from early morning until dark. We saw 15 kinds and 18 is the record. The lodge itself is fine. The bedrooms have nice windows to watch nature. There are private bathrooms and adequate hot water. Nice great room serves for dining and relaxing. The...

What a wonderful hotel. They made arrangements for a car to pick us up in Quito and deliver us to their doorstep. Within minutes of arriving we saw at least 6 different species of hummingbirds. The hosts were great. The birding guide they had was also excellent. Food was included and was plentiful and delicious. I highly recommend a stay...

I stayed here for 5 nights as part of a photographic group. The view from the deck was outstanding, lots of hummingbirds at the feeders and the low cloud circleing over the mountains. The rooms are along one corrider leading from the reception/ seating area. This means that anyone sitting talking at the seating area can be heard by the...

This place is for the birds but in a good way - ok- it's for the birders, of which I am not - I accompanied friends who are and they were in hummingbird paradise. The accommodations are very basic and clean; food is good, staff great. We were there 3 nights. The cooks adjusted meals to provide non-dairy vegetarian fare...
