We stayed at the Hostal Tutamanda for three weeks while taking Spanish lessons at Cristobal Colón Spanish school. We were completely satisfied with both the accomodation and the course. Our room was cleaned every day, we could use the kitchen and living room whenever we wanted to, and we could even use the laundry. Whenever we had a problem, lovely... More

My partner and I have stayed in two places in Quito so far and would definitely choose this one if coming back again. We tried to get closer to the old city for the same price but in hindsight it wasn't worth it. The staff here are really friendly, the double room we had was enormous, and it was clean,... More

Stayed here off and on for 3 weeks whilst like most other reviewers, learning Spanish at the attached spanish school. During the course of my stay I used rooms 6, 5, and 7, the latter two having double beds and the former having a single. All three rooms were very comfortable and great value for the price. All had a... More

I stayed in Hostal Tutamanda for a total of 3 weeks while attending classes at Cristobal Colon Spanish School. It was a nice hostal and a great value. Everyone was friendly and it was quiet. The location is good especially if you're taking classes as the school is just downstairs. I stayed in room 5 and 3 during my stay... More

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks while attending the CColon Spanish School. Having spent two Canadian winters travelling throughout Chile and western/mountain side of Argentina all of the accommodations being in Hostels we found Tutamanda to be in the top 25%. We had Room #7 which was meant for 4 thus giving us ample room during our... More

I stayed here for 8 weeks earlier this year (March-April). The rooms are very private and clean. The staff are very helpful, though I did have a problem with a courier package going missing (the package from home arrived while I was out of town on a side trip, and the manager threw it in the bin). To the credit... More

A lot of places in Ecuador I found were either cheap and nasty or extremely overpriced, Tutamanda was one of the few exceptions. Reasonably priced, well located and really well looked after. The staff are very welcoming but at the same time leave you to enjoy the place as if it were your own. Very handy as well with the... More

A really nice homely feel to this place, I stayed there while i was studying at the Cristobal Colon Spanish School downstairs. I would definitely recommend the two. In a great location, walking distance from La Mariscal and inbetween two major transport arteries one to the Historic centre and the other for the most common day trips from the city.... More

Lovely hostel. We stayed here for three weeks whilst studying at the attached school (Cristobal Colon spanish school - also highly recommended - Estefania is a great teacher). You can have discounted rates on school and accommodation if you stay for slightly longer periods as we did. The bedroom was a great size with nice parquet floor and storage space... More

“There are a few new posh rooms on the top floor which have been renovated to a high spec. We stayed in the area attached to the school rooms, which felt nice and private but could be noisy from people having lessons outside from about 9am.”
