I've stayed here several times during my time in Ecuador. Can't comment on the private rooms but the value for money on dorm rooms is excellent: $7-8/night including an above average breakfast! Guest kitchen and free wifi throughout. Friendly vibe and good for meeting other travelers if you're traveling on your own. Great location in the Mariscal on Calle Rodriguez,...

I recently spent 4 days/3 nights here in October with a group of 8 Birders. We used it as a way to acclimate to the elevation before we moved into the interior for a longer trip. It is centrally located to go birding in the excellent Botanical Gardens. It is also close to restaurants and a small but nice crafts...

This hostel is very conveniently located close to many shops, parks, bars, and restaurants. We stayed in one of the top rooms. Pluses - the beds are comfy, the shower has hot water, there is a security gate and a guard at night so it feels very safe, and it was very easy to find cabs (although getting back was...

The hostel is situated in a pretty touristy area, with many restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, laundrettes, etc. It is pretty simple, but more or less well maintained and cleaned. For a dorm (up to 4 people in the room I guess) price is around 11 dollars per night, which is affordable, and stuff like towels, clean bedsheets, even breakfast (scrambled...

Posada del Maple has some good features - lots of common space and nice patios and continuous very hot water with good pressure. It is one of the better priced options around La Mariscal for a private room with private bath (I have been coming to Ecuador for 5 years on budget trips and stayed many places in La Mariscal)....
