To start they got our booking details wrong and didn’t have the rooms available that we had booked months in advance. Not ideal as we were there to celebrate my son’s 21sr birthday. A very special occasion. For which my daughter and I had traveled to Chile from the UK especially for. After a lot of heated discussion between various members of staff (not including us!) we were given 2 rooms that would ‘make do’. A very expensive ‘make do’! +$250 per room. Not only do the rooms not have the facilities that are advertised on the hotel website but it is even worse!!!.. the main door for the room I was allocated was not a ‘fire door’ but a piece of mdf that looked as if it could be knocked down by your pinkie finger and had possibly been part of someone’s kitchen units In a previous life. One of the rooms, located on the ground floor, that was eventually allocated was noisy , cold as the heating did not work and terrifying as the full length windows were a stopping and leaning on point for the many drunk/druggies of Valparaiso who party all night until the local police, all sirens blazing, shut them down, leave..... and 5 mins later the party starts again. This is a Very overly priced hostel (not hotel standard) and in no way a ‘boutique’ hotel. Unless of course your idea of luxury is being able to view your roommate taking their absolutions in the bathroom and the entire street being able to view you having a bath!! This place is for voyeurs and those who wish to be viewed. The restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was limited and quite frankly lacking but adequate. I know we were out of season but even so their pisco sours weren’t even worth trying let alone drinking. The staff, however were charming, friendly, lovely and did try to sort out the issues which even Kofi Annan would struggle to resolve!! Sadly we arrived too late in the day to change hotels, even although we tried incredibly hard through booking.con and other websites but we were out of season, it was a Friday night and all the 5* hotels were shut or full but mostly non-existent ! We ended up leaving this place after breakfast and after spending the day exploring Valparaiso, taking a taxi to a much better option in another town further up the coast. We couldn’t even comprehend trying to stay a second night, as was booked, especially as we were informed we had to change rooms again as others had booked the rooms we had been allocated??!!?? But please, do not be disheartened... you Must visit Valparaiso. It is an incredible, interesting if a little dodgy/edgy/ stray dog infested town and is well worth a day trip. The street art is mind blowing. But don’t waste your money staying any longer than a day and certainly not the night there. …
A very comfortable, quiet, beautifully appointed small hotel run by very pleasant people. great views over the city. we would stay here. and if we could read Spanish better, we'd do a better job at answering this survey
Lovely hotel in a perfect location that offers personal service. The initial room we were given- although described as partial view - was very dark and a partial view was an exaggeration. We were given another room that had large windows and truly had a partial view. Breakfast is included in the adjoining restaurant, was adequate but luckily there are many food choices walking distance if you want something else. Our room did not have a/c but windows do open.
We had a very enjoyable three nights at the end of December. The staff were very helpful, especially when I lost my phone and they spent time calling it in case it had been found. The reception staff were knowledgable about the area, where to find the Cambios and restaurants and great things to see. The spa area was pleasant, although the pool to small to swim, it was a great place to have some time out. Excellent breakfast selection and good wine list and the Pisco sour worth trying.
It is a beautiful place in a great location! Architecture of the building is stunning an it is also well decorated. However I can’t emphasize enough how great is the team working there. Staff responsible for cleaning is doing an amazing work keeping the whole place spotless. The team serving breakfast was friendly and kind and food was very tasty. (Strawberries to die for) Whole team at the reception is helpful and polite. I really hope that all the staff members are well appreciated because they are making this place special!
