I must admit that this is my first place at a hostel and it was an amazingly good surprise! Much more than the bad idea I had about hostels! The key issue in it is that this one has also private rooms with private bathrooms, and it is also a cheap but definitely excellent choice. The rooms are comfortable, private,...

After staying in poky hostels, it was a joy to stay in la Colombia. Huge ceilings and wide corridors and comfy beds. Great location and wonderful staff. Excellent value and we would definitely stay again.

La Colombina is a great choice for lodging in Valparaíso. The location is wonderful (up in the hills removed from the "commercial" area), and the staff is excellent, particularly Nano. He was willing to help in any way he could, with recommendations (in Valpo & elsewhere in Chile), and even lent us his personal computer so we could contact home!...

To cut a long story short, I messed up the booking we made with La Colombina. Unfortunately I didn't realise until we arrived early in the morning on the 31st of Dec - the busiest priciest day of the year in Valparaiso. After some confusion, upset (where else would we stay!?!?) and talking with the owners, they VERY kindly found...

Looked at a lot of hostels and b&b's but ended up deciding for this one which was a great choice, located at Cerro Concepcion close to all the "paseos" and great staff + breakfast is included and the woman who serves it will make sure you have a great experience. Definitely recommended

I have stayed a number of times at this nice hostel run by two sisters Pamela and Marcela. They are wonderful hosts and their hostel is within a lovely old patrimonial house that they are restoring. They have a mix of room sizes , with either private bathrooms or some that are shared. The location, right in the heart of...

Good base in Concepcion to explore Valparaiso. Prime location and super friendly staff. I only had a hiccup on my first day as the staff forgot to serve breakfast, which they made up big time on the second day. I spent three nights and the room was not cleaned but that was not a big deal. Overall, very good value...

Walking distance from everything, nice breakfast, very friendly staff, clean, and with a great reading spot on the roof overlooking the bay. The only minor caveat was that half of it is under construction, minor noise, and I didn't see a good "lounging" place to hang out. Definitely recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights in March in a private double en-suite. The room was comfortable, with lovely high ceilings but is in need of a little TLC. It's definitely got character in bucket loads but felt a little rundown. The reception area however is completely the opposite and is beautifully finished with great vintage touches. The breakfast is...

With no doubt, one of the very best hostels I've ever been to. The house is gorgeous, the stuff is super king and the room they gave us was quite big, with great decoration and very full of style. I found it to be a bit pricy, but worth it in the overall.

“I got a discount of 1000 pesos/night (which saved me $8 overall = lunch out) because I came to check out the hostel, said I was going to keep looking just to see all my options and come back. I don't know if September tends to be kind of dead for them or what, but as I said there are lots of hostels nearby and they're aware of the competition.”
