Small hostel in Santiago Chile, in Bellas Artes Lastarria neighborhood. Choosing a hostel in Santiago is not an easy task, the city is huge and there are many neighborhoods that "seem" well located but really they are not. Your days and nights will be spent mainly in Bellas Artes Lastarria because main tourist attractions, cultural centers and all the fun is around here. Our quality commitment is to offer the hostel in Santiago with the best location, in a spotless place and with friendly service. And now we also have the most beautiful tourist apartments and... in the same building than the hostel! We are waiting for you!

Fantastic location Doña Maria, the housekeeper very helpful. It is difficult to have a good opinion of a place where, upon arrival you being asked to pay in advance, and have to leave a cash deposit for a bath towel, I did not have any change so I have to leave 100 dollars deposit. The Manager/Owner of the Hostal even wanted to cancel my stay after I had paid in full for three nights and find out that I had to put up a towel cash deposit, they would not even take a credit card deposit. The la Barra Hostal made me feel as a delinquent that was about to steal a towel. Room was clean but talk about bare!!! not even a nightstand. The personnel is all, except for Doña Maria, the housekeeper who was very nice and helpful, VOLUNTEERS, exchange students or immigrants that work in exchange for just a room, not even board, they told me they had to buy their own groceries to cook in. Exploitation of man by man. 6 bunk beds with no key door and lockers without locks, have to buy your own, makes for a very unsecured place. To make a long story short, I felt so uncomfortable that I left after two nights instead of three losing 33 % of my advance payment. I would not return to such a place even if it was FREE !!!!!!!!!!…

Good location, near subway and fairs. Employees are good and helpful, however Room is old and dirty. Also, some days we could not sleep because of Noise outside room, even after silent hour rule. Breakfest is ok (simple).

Hostal de la Barra is well located hostal with wasted potential. The rooms are good, with big lockers and nice beds. The bathroom is ok as well. Unfortunately the kitchen is bad and disgusting. The staff didnt bother either to clean after themselves when they used it. When we were there, most of the guest were travelers who worked there as well and where not able to inform us much about the area (like nice places to eat etc). We arrived late on friday and asked the girl from the staff if there was time to shower and still find a place open. She said that if we were quick it would be ok. We started to get our stuff and when almost ready to shower she passed our room and said that she would shower now and was not sure if there would be hot water for all of us at the sime time. Since we were in a hurry we found that action a bit unthoughtful. We showered when se was done and had no problem with the water though. We had dinner at Chelsea's across the street and would reccomend it for sure! Also we had to weak up early on sunday and were bothered by the staff that was partying in front of our window. The breakfast was simple but good. I think that if they prepared better the staff ( or just hired people that are more interested at doing a good job) and gave the kitchen a nice update this could be a great place.…

My stay in de la barra was great. Pato, Bernardo and all the other guys were really nice to me and they advice me about the night in santiago. Definetely I would stay here if I come back to Santiago. The bathrooms are shared but they are pretty good. Also the breakfast is good too.

Great location and friendly reception staff but there are problems. Most importantly, they lost my left luggage between my stays at the hostel. "No responsibility" taken and no explanation. Also, no or little hot water in the mornings. Sometimes no coffee (Nescafe). A room key that required a locksmith's touch to even consider working. Rooms adjacent to the small common area are noisy including late at night. The friendly reception staff did not quiet guests even after midnight. There are other hostel options in the Belle Artes district of Santiago, options that I will use in the future.

Thank you very much for writing us. Unfortunatly it is not true we lost your luggage. We understand your frustration of being stole but was under your supervision, not ours. It is just not right that you leave your luggage unattendant where there is other people that is not part of the staff and could not being guest even and after a while you claim being stole and try to make the hostel resposible for that. Things dont work that way. We understand your bad feeling but from there anything else is possible, since we dont serve "Nescafe" as you said, we do certainly have nice hot water in very bathroom, etc. What we credits about is that sometimes other guests dont respect each other, but that can happen everywhere, its a matter of education. Best regards.

I stayed here before finding a more permanent living situation for a teaching program and I loved it. Breakfast is provided daily and the rooms and bathrooms are very clean. There are four showers and four toilets, all co-ed. I was here with a large group, so it was perfect for us. The staff is very friendly and they are great to get to know as they have tremendous knowledge of the area and things to do. The location is central to stops on the green and red lines for the metro and there is lots to do close by! It can get pretty loud at night with the local nightlife, so don't forget earplugs and to shut the windows.

Being my first time in hostal, I was not let down. The hostal is run by a kind and enthusiastic personnel. It is placed in the centre of Santiago and one can practically walk any point of interest. The hostal has a well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, also they are always clean, as well as the other common areas. I do not think it is possible find a better hostal in relation with its price in Santiago. Definitely has my seal of approval.

Great little hostel right in the center between Lastaria and Bellas Artes. Nice staff, clean rooms, good breakfast! There is a small but well equipped kitchen and you can find many great cafes, restaurants and bars around! Would recommend anytime!

I booked a private room. When I got there the only staff was a Swiss guy who couldn't hit a word in Spanish and not more than a few in English. Communication was hard. The first thing was that the guy insisted me on charging me for the room 10 more dollars than the priced informed when I booked. I had to ask the guy several times to call the owner of the place because it was my basic right to pay just the agreed fare. After I finally succeeded with it, and after they guy made my pay before I entered the room (yeah, I had to pay in advance) he informed me that WE DIDN'T HAVE THE KEY for my room. So, yes, I basically paid 50 dollars for a private room to have it unlocked all them time with all my stuff in there :) The next day, when I wanted to leave the place, the guy in charge informed that he didn't have the key to open the parking so I could take my car out. What? YES, I had to wait 30 minutes until they solved the situation in order to use my car. The next night I ended up sleeping in Hotel Foresta, just a block away from Hostal, de la Barra for the same price (50 dollars) but with all the basic services of a hotel. Hostal de la Barra is pretty nice for people who is looking for a Hostel, but if not, they should tell you that you private room would be unlocked all the time before they make you pay.…

Great location and super helpful Staff. Stayed in the 2 bed apt next door. Much too cold for our family in July. Had to sleep in hats and jackets:( Probably perfect in the summer! Good breakfast included at cafe next door. Staff very accommodating to coordinating tours, airport shuttle. Very close to Santa Lucia hill and lastarria and Bella vista.
