Rio Amazonas is well located for the tube and within walking distance of Bela Vista with its pubs & restaurants, Plaza de Armas, and critically the fantastic Mercado Central, modelled on London's Smithfields market and built in Birmingham in 1871.....an amazing fish market, but stay away from the big restaurants in the centre of the market and go for the...

I dont know why this place has such high ratings. I think people get carried away with good service so they automatically give it a high rating, so I will try to be as honest as possible. Here are the good, average and not so good things I though about this hostel/B&B: Good - service. This was excellent. The ladies...

We spent 2 nights and loved it. The staff were great and very helpful with things to see around Santiago. It's very close to the centre of town and Bellavista. The room was small but exactly what we were after and we had a private bathroom. It's very well priced and great value. I would definitely recommend.

Hotel was a really good value. The rooms were clean and a good size. The location of the hotel is very central in the city. Really easy to get around with the subway just a few blocks away. Close to good bars and restaurants in the Bella Vista and surrounding neighborhoods. The staff at the hotel spoke English and was...

Great location, accommodating of our 2 young sons, yummy (and healthy) breakfast, clean and comfy rooms. Our room (second floor corner room for 4) was noisy (traffic and street dogs) due to double glazing not being installed in the corner window... but all together a nice stay.

First night ever in South America and terribly jet lagged. Clean and comfortable room and brilliant double glazing so our room is peaceful. Only the floorboards are noisy! The staff are very helpful and have organised an early breakfast and taxi for us, as well as details of the time change tonight. They seem to communicate well with each other...

First time in South America and Santiago is the first stop. We chose Hostal Rio Amazonas for its location, the price, and the promise of help for two non-Spanish speakers let loose in a big Latin American city. It was the right choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, full of restaurant and tourist tips, and ready to make...

+ great location, 5 min walk to Plaza Italia metro station + good price-service ratio + very attentive staff + free WiFi, free computers in the lobby o the breakfast is good but lacks a bit in variety (bread, jam, fresh juice, cheese, tee/coffee, that's it) o although the hostel is on a large street the noise level is still...

Dear Kaysch, thank you a lot for your great review. I just want to answer about the maintenance part: we restore and repair our rooms every year in the month of may and june, it's the low season for us (we make some painting, electricity, furniture restoration, etc...) and we started two years ago a big program of full renewal...
