This was one of the worst hostels I had stayed in South America. The sad thing is that it was also the most expensive one. Here are some lowlights from my stay: - Wifi was not working at all - Moldy and smelly room - Showers not working properly - no pressure and semi-hot water - Breakfast was very basic...

Ok so this isn't Buckingham palace, in fact its a crumbling old Chilean house but if rustic charm is up your street its totally fine. Felt really welcome here, staff were friendly and fun, good garden/social space to meet other travellers and a great base for other adventures, don't expect luxury though.....good vibe x

Not worth 13.000 pesos: Beds are not prepared and they're smelly and dusty. Super small shower in which I wasn't able to stand straight. Altogether it's an okay-place, it has a nice kitchen and hang-out space, but it'd be more in the range of 7.000 pesos max/night.

Dear guest: First: Chile is a very expensive country, so we kindly recommend you and all of our guests to do a little bit of research before coming to visit. There is no Hostel in Puerto Varas and/or Chile that will charge 7.000 pesos for a bed that offers Free wifi, free use of a fully equipped kitchen with free...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights, 2 in a private room, and 2 in our tent. Horrified to wake up the second morning to find numerous blood-fattened, happy fleas in our bed. My girlfriend got 8 itchy bites, i got 3. I informed the owner the next day. I should say that she was otherwise quite nice,...

Dear guests: We are sorry to hear about this bad experience. Unfortunately sometimes it is hard to control every single bug that crawls in the house, specially in the summer time; but we are happy to let you know that due to this our procedures are being reinforced.

This hostal is very nicely located on a quiet alley just a few blocks from the center of town and waterfront. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but about the least expensive accommodation in PV (and all that was available high season February when we were there). Nice gArden to hang out in, communal kitchen, dining and living...

My favourite home away from home in South America so far! I miss it already. The house is cosy and comfy and sits on a hill just on the edge of town. There's a big backyard to play in with a beautiful view and a tree perfect for climbing with a swing! The people who live there permanently have a...

Vermont Hostel offers cosy accommodations in a quaint-looking cottage close to the lake front. Beds are comfortable but the dorms are a little cold as there is no heating in the hostel. Bathrooms are shared and the staircase is narrow so watch out if you have large-size luggage. No breakfast is offered here but the kitchen is well-stocked with all...

Nice Hostel. The location couldn't get any better, just going downstairs and you are right downtown and the lake! The atmosphere is quiet, they have a pretty nice kitcken where we are all welcome to cook some food, moment when usually we have the chance of meeting with the rest of the travellers.. The garden it's big and beautifuly green...

“If you travel as a couple we advice to book the matrimonial room on the first floor with huge window and a huge bed and plenty of space in general. We did not care to much about it but it was the first hostel room we have seen having a TV inside. Yoko loved the fresh flowers in the vase.”
