Great location for our 2 night stopover being a block away from Orchard road and above the MTR.
Being part of the Shangri-La Group the attention to detail is up with the best but at comfortable family rates. Room sizes are good and plenty of space for suitcases and golf clubs.
The pool area, the main restaurant and common areas were superb and couldn’t be faulted. It says a lot for a hotel restaurant when the general public queue for meals.

We loved this hotel however have given it 4 stars due to the poor vibe of the pool. There are no where near enough loungers for the size of the pool and lone towels were often sitting on them for hours.
The location of the hotel couldn’t be better with a variety of good value dining options within the immediate area. A train station literally downstairs from the hotel gets you everywhere you need to go.
The gym is excellently if equipped with great lifting equipment for an all over workout.
We would return again but not for the pool. We used it once and hated it.

The Orchard Gatway is not a cheap hotel and it it has the veneer of value and quality typical of Singapore. When you pay so much for a room, you expect things to be right down to the details.
For example, why is it not possible to have decent coffee? How can this simple thing be so very difficult to achieve for a hotel that purports to be at such quality levels? You see the beans, hear the transformed before you, yet the end product is less than the worst instant. Yea, seems trivial, but it is not when you are spending more that USD 160 per night. I have to give this hotel credit for service. The staff are falling all over themselves to make the details right and manufacturing excuses for failure they could not possibly control. The gun to the head service mentality you expect in Singapore, which is nice and at once grating.
The breakfast is grand in scope I must admit. It is one of the bright spots even if the coffee a not fit for consumption by any standard. There is everything from Asian, to American, to fruits cheeses and pastries. However, I would just say that, although the cheese is great in terms of variety, all cheese is rubbish when served at near freezing temperatures. No clue.
The pastry selection is also nice, but awful in final execution - meaning the most important detail of actual taste is a complete let down. I can recommend only to decorate your table with them and refrain from consuming them. How can pastries be amso poorly made? But alas, pastry failure is not exceptional to this hotel, but a common theme across Asia. The bread pudding is an exception. It was seductive and creamy.
The young ladies on duty in the restaurant for breakfast provided stellar service. I was overheard grumbling to my companion about the coffee and before I finished the thought, she had returned with an alternate, marginally improved serving from some other source. She apologized profusely. Exceptional effort on the customer service front for breakfast despite the veneer of value.
On the twin room I booked, it is aesthetically nice in terms of finishings, but little more than the prison cell style accommodation you expect at an Ibis or similar. I came with a partner. We are close, but the bathroom is on full exposure with no privacy from the bedroom. You may as well be doing your ablutions next to your companion on the bedside. Again, veneer of value and quality.
I will end with the pool and gym facilities on the 10th floor which are the very best features of this hotel and probably the hook in my decision to book. The rooftop deck around the pool gives great city views and plenty of spaced for relaxation and introspection in the midst of a nice yoga practice.
All in all, the veneer of value wins the day, hence the three star rating.

Why this is called a Shangri-La I don’t know, it isn’t one unless their new approach is budget class
Don’t get me wrong the staff were absolutely lovely, particularly a lady called Mavis. Having stayed in lots of Shangri-La hotels around the world, I felt I couldn’t go wrong by booking another in beautiful Singapore....how wrong was I though. The group has obviously bought a downmarket chain, and compromised its brand
The hotel is well situated on Orchard Road and the rooms are functional and tidy, think more London hotel room sizes and you’ll be on the right track. Staff are friendly and thoughtful and the robot delivery to your room is a funny little quirk, it does however fall well short of what you come to expect from this usually exemplary hotel group.
The “signature” restaurant (actually think cafeteria) is simply appalling, we were there for New Years dinner and my wife’s birthday only to find it was a buffet with a truly abysmal wine selection and only one beer, for those U.K. travelers, think Harvester. Needless to say we left as a soon as we could. We also tried their “a la carte” menu on our last night in the desperate hope
That it would improve, but sadly once again the options were very very limited and the quality poor. We watched 3 couples wander in, look around and leave - my strong advice is to to the same thing and do NOT eat here, frankly I’d rather go to the local MacDonalds.
All in all when I go back to Singapore I WON’T be staying at this hotel.

Overall Hotel was fantastic!
Location is very good in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, where there are numerous shops, restaurants and bars.
Pool and Bar is spectacular on the 19th floor, boasting a panoramic views of Singapore, with all different types of seating areas for all.
Hotel management automatically upgraded us to a superior room when the prices fell due to the virus.
Location is very good in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, where there are numerous shops, restaurants and bars.

The hotel is located on Orchard Road, a popular location for mall exploring and shopping, also located right next to Somerset station. We were traveling with a 3 year old so not able to walk too much, but MRT was perfect, for those that do like walking can explore all landmarks by foot from Hotel Jen. In terms of hotel, we felt it was quite basic, and not of Shangri-la standard in anyway. The rooms have what you need, I would say they were on the small side. The carpet had a really bad smell that you noticed everytime you entered the room. Housekeeping was good. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was a stressful experience, it was always super busy, felt like they didn't have enough staff / food / tables to support the demand. We found that things were often finished. They had an excellent Asian range, but not a great non Asian range. Staff were friendly at the restaurant and they had a lovely kids areas with a bouncy castle. Overall a good stay. I've heard that Singapore is expensive, and it is, but for value for money this hotel scores quite low. We paid £300 per night, for what felt like a holiday Inn hotel, for that money we felt like we should of received a 5* experience, but I don't know if this is Singapore for you.

Hotel Jen @ Orchard Gateway is conveniently located at the heart of orchard road and sits right on top of somerset mrt station which makes it a very accessible location. The hotel staff at the front desk was very polite and professional. The room was clean and well maintained, with a great view overlooking orchard road. The award winning rooftop infinity pool also provides a great view of orchard road, making it a perfect place to have a relaxing swim or kick back and have a relaxing drink and light bites at the poolside bar. Other than the swimming pool, there is also a well equiped 24 hr gym, open air bamboo terrace and conference rooms, making hotel Jen a great place for either a leisure or business stay. Overall, my wife and myself had an enjoyable stay and we would defintely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in orchard.

We've stayed at many Singapore hotels over the years and found this one to be quite enjoyable. Yes, it's a bit strange to have reception on the 10th floor of a mall, yes the pool is quite an attraction causing many people to hang out all day, but look at the positives! The staff is professional, friendly and interested in guests as people. The rooms are laid out quite well, have all the usual amenities, are very quiet and the bed is quite comfortable. The pool is pretty and if you go in the middle of the day not so crowded. The restaurant, which we only utilized for breakfast, has an incredible array of food (there went my diet) and staff was quite friendly. Finally, the location, for those of us who use the MRT, is just fabulous. Being in the center of the island means you can get just about anywhere quickly. We're staying here again in April and looking forward to it!

Indeed, our rooftop infinity pool is amazing as it has beautiful panoramic views of the city skyline which makes it the perfect place to unwind and relax and to take Instagram-worthy moments. Very nice hotel in great location of being at Orchard Gateway so easy to get to shops, eateries and connecting to the MRT/buses.
City view room (1839) had amazing views but be aware that there is a huge Singtel tower opposite the hotel, think all city view rooms would see this.
The infinity pool is phenomenal with amazing views. Can get quite crowded and don’t have to be a hotel guest to come up here… Drink choices amazing and serving staff very friendly when serving you at the pool.
The house robot called Jeno is an extra bit of fun who brings towels etc to your room when requested.
Hotel can be quite loud due to the number of guests and location - the hotel can’t help this obviously except the rooms seem to have a door between them in case people want connecting rooms - this lets in a lot of sound from your next door neighbours.
Didn’t try and food as lacked vegan options.

No there is no shuttle to the hotel, but taxis are very efficient & affordable!
