Like most hotels in Singapore, space in the room was tight. However for my 13 year old and me, we made it work. We were travelling as a family of four so had to book two hotel rooms but luckily we were accommodated with our request for rooms next to each other.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even making sure we took an umbrella with us when we headed out in monsoon like rain.

The hotel itself is located in a quiet area and is conveniently positioned next door to the Bencoolen MRT Station on the Downtown Line. This is extra handy when you're heading to and from the airport, but can be a bit of a pain if you want to travel to other central areas. However, Bras Basah MRT station is less than a 300m walk away and Bugis MRT is also within short walking distance if you need other lines.

There aren't a lot of Western breakfast options nearby. The hotel's cafe prices are a bit steep but if you're happy with buffet style, you'll most likely find something to suit your tastes, as they serve traditional Asian as well as some Western options. There is a Toast Box down the street but the servings are small and no good for kids who are fussy about food.

My biggest issue with my stay was the bed. It was super hard and felt like we were sleeping on a slab of concrete. The pillows weren't much better. However, my son and husband next door had a super comfortable bed and pillows so there is inconsistency between rooms.

The bathroom is quite small and I will never understand why the toilet paper dispenser is fixed to the wall above and behind the toilet. You pretty much have to do a full turn to grab any paper in an already cramped space. The shower could also do with a good scrub. I could see mould starting to creep into the silicone.

Finally, there are only two washing machines and two dryers on site - one was broken during our stay. It's a big hotel so my tip is get up early to beat the demand! It'd be great to see more washing machines and dryers installed, given the size of the hotel. There are laundromats nearby but who wants to spend their holiday there?!

All in all, I would stay again given the convenience of the MRT but there are a few minor improvements that could've made our stay so much better.

Dear TravelAnimal81, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We appreciate your insights as they help us continually improve our services. We are pleased to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful during your visit, especially in accommodating your request for adjacent rooms—it's wonderful that we could assist you in making your family trip more comfortable despite the challenges posed by room size. Your comments about the convenient location next to Bencoolen MRT Station are greatly appreciated; we strive to provide easy access for our guests traveling around Singapore. We acknowledge your concerns regarding the limited Western breakfast options available nearby and understand how important meal choices can be for families with varying tastes. Your feedback on our café pricing has also been noted; we will continue evaluating our offerings to ensure a satisfactory experience for all guests. I sincerely apologize for the inconsistency you experienced with bed comfort between rooms; this is certainly not reflective of our standards, and I will ensure this matter is addressed with our housekeeping team. Additionally, I appreciate your observations regarding the bathroom layout and cleanliness issues you've mentioned—we take these matters seriously and will work towards improving them promptly. Lastly, thank you for highlighting the need for additional laundry facilities within our hotel; we recognize how essential this service can be during longer stays. We value your patronage and hope that despite these challenges, you would consider staying with us again in the future. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to enhance guest experiences at every opportunity. Warm regards, Leon

Clean hotel room with good amenities. The cleaner Wang Fei did a good job especially since the previous person in the room was a smoker. The smoke was unbearable but they provided us with a good air dispenser that dissipated the smell and made it new again.

So the positives are that this is a clean and tidy hotel with friendly and attentive staff. There are facilities like the pool and in your room you have coffee/tea facilities as well as a refrigerator. The downside is the rooms are very small, we struggled to get our two cases in the room and be able to move around. The shower was excellent but again the en-suite is very small and only one of you can be in there at any time. The breakfast is not in the hotel but next door and it’s very lacking in options and always seemed to be cold food. So if you’re just looking to put your head down to sleep and you’re not here with luggage it’s probably a good choice. But if you want a bit more from your stay and to relax in the room then I think you’d be disappointed. The best thing is its location next to the Metro, if you need to get around Singapore that’s invaluable for speed and cost. Depending on which site you visit the star rating varies from 3 to 4 stars, in my opinion this is 3 stars at best and on a similar line to an Ibis or Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel has the following advantages: responsive staff, convenient location in the city center, near metro stations, food courts, currency exchange, possibility to book and pay upon arrival.
If you don't care about comfort, here you are)) The worst hotel of my life. Very unpleasantly surprised by the tiny superior standard room, 14 square metres for 43,000p in three nights. Apparently the hotel had a good photographer, in fact everything is very tiny. Seen the photo and read the good recent comments, and chose it, a huge mistake. This caused enormous discomfort and affected the perception of Singapore. The room is squalid, and everything is stated, but with its moments. The window won't open, it opens to the courtyard, and there's a pool of screaming people. Windows to the windows, so the curtains were kept closed all the time. The air-conditioning system was uncontrollable, producing a maximum of 20 degrees, blowing so you had to insulate and cover yourself with a blanket. If you turn it off, there's no air immediately and the window is blank. English-style sockets, but the good is switches to our standard. But my iPhone didn't want to charge anyway, and it held up the whole trip. At this point everything collapsed, but figured out to change the adapter and the charging went. Wi-fi is only available in the hotel room and lobby, first encountered this. Good thing I had eSIM operating in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Hairdryer was discovered in the drawer of the desk, with a short cord, incredibly funny hair drying took place, this is brilliant)))) There is a cabinet, but it has a fridge (very warm), a safe, you can hang clothes, but no shelves. A small suitcase was barely placed on the floor, and a folding chair had to be removed. There's only one nightstand by the bedside, the other one was sorely missed. The table is very small, things are not clear where to fold. There were slippers, but no bathrobes. The only thing I liked was the water purification machine, aka the kettle. The bathroom is tiny. Above the washbasin the shelf hits the forehead wonderfully when washing, ingeniously made))) And also, the plumbing works well. The shower door opens to the outside and the floor towel had to be moved constantly. (Toiletries are screwed to the wall))) One towel was issued, not two. Breakfast is very scarce. Boiled eggs for breakfast)))) Vegetables and greens are almost non-existent. The balanced eating mission was almost a failure)) The restaurant has no Wi-Fi. Total: hotel doesn't pull 4 stars, maximum 2.

Perfectly situated with great public transport links, exceptional & attentive staff, couldn't recommend V Hotel more. Very high standards of cleanliness & great facilities....that good, we extended our stay with ease. Hotel services a constant stream of international guests which truly emphasises the true multicultural essence of Singapore. Totally fell in love with this city & V Hotel helped achieve that. Worst bit...breakfast limited although sufficient to start the day. Highly recommend making use of the pool which has a shower room for ease of changing. Communal washing & drying machines costs $SG11 for a generous load.
Thank you to each fabulous staff member, & energetic nothing too much trouble, Henry who recommends to contact Hotel V direct for best, comparative prices as opposed to 3rd party hotel booking sites such as Booking.com.
Adjacent streets carry lots of bars/restaurants, handy MRT sites numerous, try turning right & right again to access Bras Basah Road station, or walk to War Memorial & Raffles via Chjimes.

We stayed at V Hotel Bencoolen in Singapore from December 28, 2024, to January 1, 2025, for 4 nights, and it was an exceptional experience. The room, bathroom, and overall cleanliness were impeccable. The staff was highly professional and attentive. The location is ideal, being just a few meters from the Metro station, which made exploring Singapore very convenient.

We would like to give special recognition to May, a member of the housekeeping team, for her outstanding work. She ensured our room was cleaned daily, provided all the necessary amenities, and was always approachable whenever we needed assistance. Her dedication and hard work were truly impressive.

There’s nothing negative to mention about our stay , everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely choose V Hotel Bencoolen again when we visit Singapore in the future. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable. Keep up the great work

May who serviced our room for the 4 days was very accommodating with our room request like coffee, sugar, tea, dry towels etc and servicing our room. Friendly and with pleasant smiles for us and asked whether we needed anything else. May takes pride in what she does in doing her work. We found the room good for small people, or a single occupant.
The bathroom of our room needed a shower screen to stop the water going everwhere. We liked the water filter/hot water unit, a real plus.
The hotel staff were really accommodating and happy to help at any time.

Singapore is definitely majestic, and you can recognize it from many skyscrapers in the central part and not. Arriving in Bencoolen Street you realize that this street is no less than the rest of the city. The hotel is in a great location, you can easily reach marina Bay on foot, and is also very close to Orchard Road. The reception is always pleasantly manned by one or two employees who are always ready to give help and advice about the city, always available and always with a smile on their lips. From the reception you then go upstairs, we were on the fourth, and you reach your room. The room is certainly the most sore point of the hotel, because it is a really tiny room. We had four suitcases including two large hold cases and two Trolleys and it was difficult to stay in the room. The suitcases had to be opened on the bed because otherwise you literally wouldn't pass. The bathroom was definitely large compared to what the whole room was, and that’s good. The bed, although we had booked a double room, was not suitable for a couple, but there were two single beds. Despite this the beds were comfortable and ensured a good rest. After the night you expect a breakfast worthy of being called such and above all worthy of guaranteeing calories for a good part of the day. Leaving the hotel on your right you will find a public place affiliated with the hotel itself that offered breakfast. There were several purely oriental dishes plus fresh fruit cereals some milk, some juice and water. It was not satisfactory. In addition there were croissants, sweet and savory croissants, Smoothie all for a fee. The motivation therefore of the three stars is given by a very small room despite being clean, and a very poor breakfast.

We had a brilliant stay at the V Bencoolen.

We were in a quirky studio room for 3 people - 1 x double bed and 1 x single up on the mezzanine.

The room was spotlessly clean and the staff were mega friendly

The hotel is well located with several MRT stations really close by and bus routes passing the front of the hotel. So easy to get to the hotel from the airport, with Bencoolen station part of the same block the hotel is located on.

Walking distance to Raffles, museum and fort Canning park.

The pool was excellent and great to cool down after some sight seeing.

The hotel has a self serve laundry service - washer and dryer - $5 each

Travelled with a friend, the suite was more than enough for our needs. We were outside for most of the time but the room was always cozy and clean when we went back even when we refused service and had only asked to have our waste baskets emptied and some coffee and tea amenities refilled. They also offer Flat iron and extra pillows should you request for these at no extra costs. Props to Wang Fei and Ah Minh for keeping our room clean and the staff at reception are very welcoming and always greet us when we leave and return to the hotel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ good value for the $$$. Did I mention that the establishment is literally a minute away from an MRT Station (DT Bencoolen) commuting is a breeze from the hotel, plus! Only a good few minutes going to Bugis St., and there are food establishments around the vicinity as well. This is an unbiased review, get booked yall!
