This hotel was perfect for our overnight stay in Singapore. Although the room was small, it didn't really matter, it was very clean cleverly furnished with all we needed including wi fi. We found the staff warm and friendly and we enjoyed our breakfast in the bistro attached. A walk through the markets and surrounding areas the following morning was...

It's a very nice and clean boutique hotel that offers basic and necessary amenities which all of us need during travelling. The room was spacious though authentic. The service provided by staff is excellent. Moreover, it is also near to Outram MRT Station.

Stayed at Hotel 1929 on a recent transit stop and it was perfect. It was right in the heart of Chinatown, close to all the restaurants, bars and hawker centres which suits a foodie down to a T. Only short taxi ride to the other tourist spots too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was small but didn't matter as...

This small hotel is an excellent choice in singapore: very nice interior wih interessting design, rooms a bit small, but very clean, friendly staff and the best is the situation: only a short walk from chinatown, shops and foodstreet and underground station.

At the heart of China Town, Hotel 1929 located at the most convenience spot in town with many restaurants and cafes nearby. As a solo traveler, the single room was ok, VERY moderate size with minimal style decor so expect nothing fancy, you might feel a bit uncomfortable at first but soon will ease to the coziness of the room....

We booked this hotel as it was close to Chinatown MRT station. The hotel is located on a lovely street and is close to the fantastic food street (Smith street). Our room was lovely if a little small. However, we were in Singapore to see things not spend time in our room. Our room was tastefully decorated though and very,...

This was one of the first block of shophouses on Keong Saik Street to be converted. It's a quirky building, partly because of its shape - they've shoehorned a lot into the space. The lobby's collection of dentist chairs and local biscuits is definitely interesting! Check in was quick and friendly (always got a nice smile from the front desk)...

Hotel lobby was classical and retro. It seems that time was turn back to the early years of the past. At the lobby, you can help yourself to retro biscuits like the gem candy biscuits and on, together with the drinks which you can help yourself. Unfortunately, there is a fault in my room, the aircon is unable to work....

I've always wanted to stay at hotel 1929 but normally work would place me somewhere around the clean and business-like CBD area. Finally a weekend getaway at 1929! I had lovely service from the get go, the front desk allowed me to check in at 12pm instead of the normal 2pm. I was upgraded to a bigger room although I...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
