Recommend highly if you have a little one. The facilities are perfect but most importantly the staff! Everyone has been so welcoming, very attentive and incredibly helpful which is so so appreciated when travelling with a very tired 1 year old! Special thanks to Oonan, Siti, Mary and Feli for their extra special care. Management should be very impressed with the quality and skill of their staff!

We stayed for 3 nights in the Deluxe King. I think they have recently renovated as everything is very nicely done and different to some pictures. Clean and modern design but still very comfortable and welcoming. We stayed in the deluxe king and had a lovely amount of space for us and our 1 year old. The cot provided is nice quality, clean with bedding. There was no bath in this room, but a very spacious shower with rain or standard head. Filtered water is provided in the room along with a Nespresso machine, tea kettle and necessary bags and pods with a small fridge. Plenty of plug sockets and ones next to the bed also have USB and USB-C charging ports which is very useful.

Breakfast is also very nice. There is a mix of western and eastern, which does varies day to day. There are the standard pastries, breads, salads, cold meats and cheese. Pancakes and bacon as well as a fresh egg station made to order. There is also congee, dumplings and a fresh noodle station. High chair and children’s cutlery was provided for us.

The pool area is secluded and a lovely place to cool off for a moment from the heat. Towels and sun loungers are provided pool side. It is a smaller area but was not busy when we visited.

Location is great for public transport links. It is 6 minutes from Tanjong Pagar MRT which is about an hour from Changi. It took us 30 minutes on the bus to Sentosa and about a 15 minute walk into the heart of China Town. There are some lovely looking restaurants very close by and even in the hotel. We didn’t get to try any this visit as we were out with family, but they also said that it is a good area for food.

We will definitely be staying at the Amara when we visit in the future. It is so important to feel comfortable when travelling with the child and it can be nerve wracking trying somewhere new but the Amara exceeded our expectations in every way!

My recent stay at the hotel provided a blend of positives and considerations worth noting.

Positives:

Courteous Staff: The staff were consistently friendly and responsive, enhancing the overall experience with their helpful demeanour.

Convenient Location: Situated near both Chinatown and the commercial district, the hotel's location is perfect for exploring the vibrant local area on foot.

Toilet Design: The room's layout includes a well-designed separate shower room and toilet.

Considerations:

Mattress Comfort: Personally, I found the mattress to be too firm for my preference, which affected my sleep quality. Guests who prefer softer mattresses may want to consider this factor.

Duvet Thickness: The duvet provided was quite thick, which might not be ideal for the humid climate of the country. A lighter option could improve comfort, especially during warmer seasons.

Room Sharing Consideration: For those sharing a room with a colleague, the lack of a separate area for dressing after showering could be inconvenient. It's something to consider depending on your travel companionship.

Amara Singapore was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived, Raymond, Judy and Oonah at the front desk made us feel genuinely welcome. Friendly, efficient, and incredibly thoughtful—they even surprised my dad with a birthday cake for his 77th and upgraded both our rooms. Raymond even remembered the next day to check on our Dad during breakfast to greet him again. That’s next-level service!

Then there’s Idil, the friendly and enthusiastic porter and doorman, who greeted us like old friends every time he saw us, even from afar, the kind of hospitality that sticks with you.

The rooms? Spotless, stylish, and brilliantly designed. The separate sink, toilet, and shower setup is a game-changer—no bathroom traffic jams! Modern yet inviting, with lighting that makes everything feel warm and luxurious. The photos of their rooms do not do it justice.

Breakfast was a feast, with an amazing spread of authentic local dishes—fresh, delicious, and worth waking up early for.

The atmosphere was peaceful—no screaming kids, no chaos, just a relaxing, refined(but unpretentious) vibe. Whether we got lucky or it naturally attracts a more mature crowd for business meetings, families with teens, young adults and older parents, we loved it.

Location? Perfect.
- Next to Tanjong Pagar MRT—easy city access.
- Plaza and Hawker food across the road—because you need both and want to eat with locals.
- Minutes to Marina Bay & Chinatown—sightseeing made simple.

We’ve stayed in multiple four and five-star hotels, including Marina Bay Sands, and Amara is now one of our favourites. This is the place if you want a warm, welcoming luxury stay before splurging at MBS. Would stay again without hesitation!

Our flight was delayed coming out of Christchurch, transitting through Singapore to go onto Bangkok, so we had missed our connecting flight. Singapore airlines booked us on a new flight the next day and we (and 100s of other travellers) were given hotel, taxi and food vouchers.

Fortunately for us, we were allocated the Amara hotel which is pure luxury. The staff went out of their way to be kind, caring but also so efficient, ushering us straight into a buffet dinner after all of the transfer drama and long day of travelling. The beds are heaven and if it wasn’t for my two excited and hungry girls, I could’ve slept for hours longer. The shower is heaven, the air conditioning is a god send for us cold blooded NZers and the location of the hotel, just a stroll to some really cool areas like Chinatown, makes it the best location for an unexpected stay that we could have asked for.

Thanks for everything Raymond and the delightful team at Amara Singapore xxx

All the great reviews here I can only partially understand. After the renovation, the rooms are comfortable. Good size and a modern ambience - but that's where it stops. The rooms are incredibly noisy. When the next room showers, it sounds like you have a water pipe break right next to your head. Even the slot of the room door lets in so much light from the corridor as if a construction spotlight were pointed directly at the door. The breakfast buffet is excessively crowded and there is no variety. This has nothing to do with rest and relaxation. Also, the breakfast staff is not particularly friendly and handles everyone easily. The mood at breakfast feels more like an all-inclusive Antalya hotel than a 5-star hotel in Singapore. In general, we felt that little courteous behavior and appreciation was shown. We had chosen the Amara Singapore to explore the city and also relax. The pool for this seems very run-down. Next to the reclining area hangs a half-rotten building tarpaulin and next to it is an entrance that looks like an abandoned beauty studio. The water springs on the side have come down, the frosted glass cover of the windows is peeling off - all in all, no real feel-good mood arises. However, the gym leaves nothing to be desired. We had booked for 6 nights, but after 3 nights decided to change the hotel to hopefully find the relaxation we were looking for on our trip for the rest of the time.

The service is very good. The staff at the reception desk are polite and smiling. They try their best to meet the needs of the guests. They also take the initiative to introduce sightseeing spots and transportation methods. The room cleaners are very attentive and tidy. The daily rations are sufficient, even if there are unused supplies. Daily supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and drinking water will also be issued.

If you have the opportunity to travel to Singapore again, you will definitely consider staying at this hotel again to enjoy high-quality services. Moreover, the location of the hotel is very good, close to Chinatown, Chinatown and other tourist attractions.

Wei suggested that the hotel consider renovating some facilities, such as the wash basin cabinet in the room toilet, which feels a bit outdated, and choose a more fashionable design.

I don’t understand the rave reviews this hotel gets. I stayed here with my family group and to say it was a massive disappointment was an understatement. The rooms are big and they have double queen bed rooms which are hard to find in Singapore at a more reasonable price point, so that was a plus and where the positives end. Rooms are minimalist decor with no storage space so you end up living out of your suitcase. One member of our party did not have a full length mirror in the room! (We all looked for it in vain in disbelief). I’ve never dealt with a less friendly or accommodating hotel staff. We were refused change for a large bill because “that’s not a service we offer our guests”. I wrote some postcards to send back home and when I went to reception to drop them off in the outgoing mail I was told “I’m sorry we cannot accept the liability of your postcards and put them in the outgoing mail, but if you would like I can get out a map and show you where to walk to the nearest post office is…” Are you kidding me??? (Thanks, Ashraf) Our private joke was that Amara must be the Malay word for “no”. There was the issue when our 12 year old daughter wasn’t allowed in the breakfast area because she wasn’t accompanied by her parents. “But my parents are already inside here eating.” “But they need to bring you in here”. “Ok, well they are over there [points to their seats]- can you tell them I’m here?” “No I cannot, sorry I cannot help you”. (Daughter goes up to room crying). At check in there was over an hour wait to check in with people blatantly cutting the line and no one policing it (only to be initially charged a higher rate than my confirmed booking which lead to yet another delay). The list goes on- it was like staying at a hotel run by first term hotel school interns. I don’t understand the love this hotel gets.

Dear Joshdent, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear about your experience, as it falls far short of the high standards we aim to uphold. We understand your frustration with the room’s storage, lack of a full-length mirror, and the inconveniences you faced regarding customer service. Your concerns regarding the staff’s behavior and the issues with check-in and breakfast are particularly disappointing, and we will be investigating this matter with the team. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the negative impact this had on your stay. We value your input, and we’ll work on improving these aspects so that future guests do not experience similar issues. If you would be willing to give us another chance, we would love to welcome you back and provide you with a stay that meets your expectations. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. Warm regards, Amara Singapore

Where to start? We encountered many issues during our week long stay at the Amara Singapore. The location of the hotel was convenient - close to the subway station, supermarkets, several local food centres and lots of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. However, the hotel was a genuine let down. On arrival, there was no porter to helped us with our luggage so we had to struggle with the heavy glass door to bring our luggage into the lobby. We arrived at the hotel at 3 pm, and there was a long queue for checkin. It took more than 45 minutes to finally be checked in, despite the fact that we had expected a more express checkin experience as warranted for a Club room. We stayed in a Club room (1812) for a week. The room, while spacious, was dusty, it seemed to us that housekeeping staff rarely vacuumed the carpet. On one day, we found one spider in the bathroom and on another day, another spider was dangling from a thread on the front door of the room. We had to duck under the spider to get in and out of the room. Calls to the front desk, housekeeping, concierge went unanswered all the time. Each evening, we had to carry our own laundry bags to the lobby and hand them to any staff we could find there. Afternoon tea in the Tea Room offered to Club rooms was dismal - a few pieces of cakes, pastries which were the same each day. Not sure if they were recycled over and over. Canapes session consisted of 2 trays of hot food - usually deep fried chicken tenders or fries or something forgettable. The tea box containing tea bags in the Tea Room was hidden away by the staff most of the time, we had to look for it during afternoon tea and in the evening. We had to remind the lounge staff on several occasions that the water in the coffee machine needed to be topped up. All in all, we did not feel the sincerity of the staff nor that they were genuinely trying to deliver a level of service that was expected for a hotel of this class. We will not be returning.

We had the pleasure (yes, despite the circumstances!) to spend a night at Amara Singapore after our flight with Singapore Airlines was unexpectedly postponed. Within just two hours, accommodation had to be arranged for a large number of passengers – a logistical challenge that the Amara team mastered with flying colors.

Special thanks go to Oorah and her team, who acted professionally, friendly and absolutely solution-oriented despite the obvious time pressure. From the smooth check-in to the organization of the rooms to the small but important details (such as refreshments and luggage assistance): Everything went like clockwork.

The room was spotless, modern and incredibly comfortable – just what we needed after a long day of travel. The hotel's central location in Singapore is also a big plus and offers the opportunity to explore the area.

We would like to commend the entire team. What began as a stressful stopover became an all-round positive experience due to the hospitality and professionalism of the Amara. Thank you for that – we will be happy to come back, but hopefully voluntarily next time!
