Nestled near Orchard Road, Shangri-La Singapore is a serene retreat that garners high marks for its exceptional service and spotless environment, as attested by numerous guests. The hotel's idyllic atmosphere and well-kept gardens contribute to its sophisticated charm. While some guests find the value debatable, the expansive amenities, such as the Horizon Club, are often celebrated, especially for family stays. Spacious rooms provide comfort, though a few guests suggest updates are needed. The hotel's slightly remote metro location is a minor drawback for travelers.

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at with outstanding customer service.

This hotel is beautiful. We organised the hotel to do our transfers from airport and whilst we felt it was grossly overcharged we had staff welcome us at the gate, escort us through immigration and to our bags so we were looked after from the moment we stepped foot off the plane.

We had two rooms side by side in the garden wing. Absolutely beautiful rooms. Amazing stunning garden and waterfall ride outside our room. We overlooked the pool.

Rooms were kept to an amazing standard. Housekeeping was the highest quality and our rooms were cleaned immaculately each day.

For a country focusing on sustainability- suggest moving away from the single use soaps and washes etc. very wasteful.

Water park for kids was also great

The restaurants on site were great. The Italian was amazing!!

Biggest criticism was breakfast. People are packed into a small space like sardines. Very unhygienic. When everyone is in such a small space staff need to be serving customers. Just in one breakfast serving I saw a child pickup a plate, put its hands all over it and the mum put it back on the pile, and another man cough into his hands and then use his hands to serve his food. Just because it’s a 5 star hotel doesn’t mean you have guests to match.

I spent 2 days extremely unwell and stuck in my room because I got sick. Cant help but think it was from poor hygiene at breakfast from others.

The staff working on breakfast also need better training. We were a group of 5 and almost daily the girl would walk off after us giving 1-2 of our drink orders. Without fail every day she got the order wrong. Never once did she write it down. Every single day the order was wrong which was so frustrating, with times our drinks being nothing like what we ordered. The coffee was also foul undrinkable most days.

Overall I thought this hotel was amazing except for our breakfast experience. I would stay here again

Also a tip would be to use Grab app for ordering taxi. We paid $75 for one trip when the same trip on grab was less than $30.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The room was stunning, huge and very nicely furnished with top-quality furnishings, beautiful wood flooring with a lovely area rug, a large balcony, a large and well-laid-out bathroom, lots of storage, spotlessly clean - all in all, a top-quality room. For a four-night stay, it was very comfortable.

Checkin was very efficient and courteous. WIFI worked well. The landscaping on the grounds is lovely.

The breakfast was also excellent, with a large array of very well-prepared food in the buffet. I came early enough that there was no problem getting a table, although I did notice that later arrivals did sometimes have to wait for a table, especially on the Saturday and Sunday mornings.

There was also a small bakery/coffee shop in the lobby that had really delicious baking of various kinds, at quite reasonable prices.

Why the four stars then? Location, and there is little the hotel can do about this. The location in a residential area is nice, and very quiet, but it is a long walk to any metro station (between 1.2 km and 1.6 km). Even the nearest bus stop is 600 m, according to mapping packages.

They do have a shuttle which goes to the Takamishiya mall periodically. That is sometimes helpful, but if your planned schedule does not coincide with their shuttle schedule, you will be doing a lot of walking to get anywhere in Singapore.

So the rating of this hotel probably depends on why you are staying here. If you want a relaxing time in a very luxurious setting, this hotel ticks all the boxes. If you want to explore Singapore, and want to be close to the main sites or else close to access to Singapore's very good public transit, there are other hotels which are better options.

Still - I really enjoyed my time here.

We arrived with high expectations which were not only met but exceeded.

Our transfer from the airport took us to the main entrance where checkin was efficient and painless (we could / should have used the valley road entrance with its dedicated checkin).

We made our way to the room which was on 8th floor of Valley Wing and our luggage arrived at the room moments later.

The room was spacious with a floor to ceiling window looking out over the gardens and swimming pool. There was a nespresso machine as well as a kettle, complementary soft drinks were in the minibar. The bathroom was spacious with two washbowls, a walk-in shower and a full size bath. TV had a limited range of channels including BBC News but WiFi worked well.

The bed was both large and comfortable. Throughout our stay the room was serviced each day to a very high standard, fruit in the fruit-bowl was replenished as were soft drinks and coffee pods. The chocolates left by the turn down service were much appreciated.

We took breakfast in the Summit room variously enjoying steak and eggs, eggs Benedict as well as fruit and pastries. Both the food and Service were top quality.

During the afternoon we enjoyed afternoon tea with a variety of sandwiches and cakes and in the evenings cocktails and canapes. The champagne flowed freely and we were well looked after by Raja and his team.

Some may say the idea of waiters in frock coats was old fashioned but we found it added to the experience, reminding us of The Ritz, London.

During the stay it was my wifes birthday. We were surprised by a fruit birthday platter at breakfast as well as having a photo taken which was framed and delivered to our room along with a chocolate birthday cake. This made for a very special day.

To say we enjoyed our week of luxury is an understatement.... I hope many others will enjoy their stay too.

Our good experience started when we arrived early at 8.30 am after a late night sleepless well before check in time. Although we were unable to get an earlier than the standard check in time, Irfan, the receptionist who dealt with us, did offer a complimentary breakfast. Due to his good interpersonal skills and his advice we decided to pay extra for a Horizon Club room for the three nights’ stay which did allow us immediate access to our room as well as the other club amenities. Every aspect of our room worked perfectly. The rooms are well designed, made of quality materials, fully resourced and comfortable. The Horizon club lounge provided a substantial evening cocktail buffet which meant that we did not need to leave the hotel for dinner. The staff there are very professional and well trained. Special mention to Viola, Milan, Gary and Paul for their friendly and efficient service.

The location is quite close to Orchard street shopping centres within a reasonable walking distance, and the hotel provides an hourly shuttle service between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm. Regarding the hotel location, it is more situated in the business area rather than the more typical tourist locations. As we have been travelling for about 7 years, this was not a problem for us. Anyway, there is good and cheap public transport to any and all tourist areas.

The only detraction is that we feel that the air conditioning in the public areas such as the downstairs lobby was a bit too cool if you wanted to sit there for an extended period.

We would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful hotel.

Beautiful hotel offering spacious rooms with sober and tasteful decoration, very comfortable bed, large bathroom, large TV, fast wifi access, lovely view of part of the city.
Arrival a little disappointing, with a gigantic hall and a lot of people, queue to check-in.
Very disappointing breakfast, order was made for a continental breakfast in the room, and there was a big disappointment, with in total 2 slices of half-cold sandwich bread, a few pieces of fruit and that's it! no pastries, small baguettes or the like, nothing.
Also pay attention to the location, which is relatively far from tourist attractions, a good 10 minutes walk from the metro.

We did a 3 day stop over in Singapore at this hotel. From the moment we got off the aircraft the service was exceptional. We were met off the gantry by a well presented gentleman who escorted us through the airport, through immigration, collected our bags, found our transfer and we were off…. If it wasn’t for a slight technical problem with immigration we would have been at the hotel within 40mins, at a push it was 45mins!

We arrived at the hotel, met at the door and escorted straight to our room on 8th floor, where we were checked in, shown the facilities, our 10year old daughter was given a good bag, and we were presented with a cake for our anniversary…. Blown away.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at this hotel. Full accommodating and so helpful with advise on where to visit, restaurant recommendations, grabbing a taxi or just impeccable service the minute you sat down in the lounge or any of the restaurants.

I would highly recommend this hotel, the pool and pool service was superb. Breakfast had a vast selection of options, but could get a little busy if you were later in the day. My daughter tried the kids club for a few hours, but found fun round the pool more attractive. Location is a little away from most things, however, taxis are cheap enough and within 15minutes you were in the heart of the action.

You can always feel how stingy or generous the owner of a hotel is in Singapore.

This Shangri-la hotel is a good hotel (infrastructure wise) , located near the city center but away from all these noise. However, every time I visit this hotel, the stingyness of this hotel owner makes me not wanting to come back again.

It's all in the detail that matters that changes how a guest feels during a trip. Little things like completely empty mini bars, never granted late checkouts, never provided earlier checkins even when available (even for $1k per night suites).

We stayed for a family trip with children aged 2 and 5.
The room was spacious and an extra bed had been installed next to the armchair making it quite large. Bath shower and large balcony as well as everything necessary. The children received slippers at their waist as well as a bag with full coloring games.
The Inn is located +-10 min walk from the Orchad road and the bus and metro stop a little further in front of the ION Mall. It is therefore not too badly located and you can easily go around by metro or bus with the tourist card. In the Inn there is a beautiful central pool with a shallower side for children and a paddling pool with water jets for the little ones. There is also a second pool for children with water games, some slides etc. There is also a kids club but for a fee.
For breakfast, there is really choice and for all tastes! It was a perfect stay in an exceptional setting.
To get around you can also use the Grab app which is not very expensive.

We stayed in the Valley wing for 9 nights as a family of 3. From the moment we arrived we were treated to the most incredible experience and amazing customer service. The hotel is beautiful, and valley wing guests have a dedicated reception lobby. Frances checked us in and was helpful, professional and friendly, taking time to explain the dedicated services at the hotel. Our room was amazing with a separate dressing area, an amazing bathroom and a lounge area, plus an additional bed to accommodate our daughter. The beds and pillows were absolutely superb and we all slept like logs. As Valley wing guests we were treated to complimentary champagne, cocktails and premium drinks throughout our stay, along with daily afternoon tea and canapés - all of which were absolutely superb and greatly appreciated! One additional perk is the provision of cheeses and crudités in the afternoon which was an unexpected pleasure!
For breakfast the dedicated service in the Summit room was outstanding and we also had the choice of a huge self service buffet at The Line - with the largest selection of breakfast dishes we’ve ever seen, although it does get busy.
We also had dinner at the on-site Italian restaurant and again it was outstanding.
The huge pool area was beautiful, very well maintained and great to have a large deep area for swimming.
I could say so much more about this wonderful hotel, but the final word must go to the amazing colleagues who work there and tended to our every need. Unfortunately I didn’t get everyone’s name but we wanted to especially recognise Frances, Joanne who helped me with ordering a birthday cake for our daughter, Peggy who looked after us at breakfast and organised a surprise presentation for the birthday, and Elvis who was a real joy to see every day with the biggest smile as we got to know this beautiful country.
5 stars from us for this amazing hotel and we hope to return one day - Elaine, Russell and Mollie

It was our first trip to Singapore so we wanted to stay in luxury and this hotel never disappointed us. Upon our arrival after a very long flight we where greeted by a lovely reception person who checked us in to our garden wing room. We where adived that the room came with a 100 dollar room credit that we could use for in room dining or at one of the restaurants.

The room was lovely, really big bathroom, great drinks area with a nescafe coffee machine loads of bottled water and a water filter system.
The bed was queen size with a nice seating area with sofa and a coffee table.
Dressing gowns and of course hotel cotton slippers ( lovely touch)
Breakfast was great everything you could ever want, catering for all nationalities.
The hotel is situated near Grove Road just a short walk away where there are shops upon shops and shopping Malls.
We did all the sights and found the hop on hop off bus a great way to see the city. We had a two day pass and made great use of it.
The hotel always had taxis waiting to take you to where you wanted to go.

Only one negative the room credit was really hard to use. One evening we ordered in room dining after a long day of sightseeing and asked for the room credit to be deducted from the bill. Well this never happened and we paid the full bill. The next morning I asked at reception why this had happened and they told me they didn't know and I could either use it another time or wait 14 days for a refund. So as we had a few more days we said we would use it another time. So one lunch time we where in the hotel and ordered some lunch again explaining to room service we wanted to use the in room credit when paying. Unfortunately the bill arrived in full so I made the porter go back and get it adjusted so I just paid the balance. She did this and I paid the balance. Fantastic I thought until I was checking out and I was told there was an outstanding charge for the full amount of our lunch. I had to prove via my bank that I had paid the balance and that in room services has adjusted the bill to include the complimentary 100 dollars. What a load of nonsense why give you a room credit but make it so hard to use?
Anyway it did not effect our stay in this beautiful hotel in a fantastic city and we will be back.
