Nestled in a bustling hub near Clarke Quay, the Paradox Singapore Merchant Court garners praise for its exceptional location, making it a favorite starting point for exploring local attractions. Guests appreciate the attentive service, though some have noted occasional breakfast and check-in hiccups. While the hotel's atmosphere combines modern touches with comfort, noise and a sense of wear have been points of concern.
Opinions on value are mixed, with some guests finding the offerings pricey. Room experiences vary, with spaciousness and views lauded, but some decor and maintenance aspects face criticism. The hotel's amenities, particularly the pool, stand out for their quality, and cleanliness is consistently applauded across the board.

Detailed Reviews
Ellenborough Mkt Café isn't one of the best BUT IT's the BEST café that we've tried over these two months since Jan 2025. The lunch buffet spread was really fabulous. We're so well served and pampered by 2 dedicated ladies viz Ms Elsa and Ms Bee Hock.
Ms Elsa had taken the extra mile to guide my dad to the gents without having to take the flight of stairs. Ms Bee Hock was very diligent in clearing the used plates and in refilling hot water.
Both courteous ladies had displayed their professionalism and their warm smiles had left us an unforgettable impression.
Thank you, ladies and team.
God bless all of you with His Love, Peace and Joy always.

I spent some weeks researching hotels for Singapore and the Paradox is an excellent place in which we stayed for 10 days. Firstly, the location is excellent - its on Clarke Quay and a 2 min walk over the bridge takes you to a river cruise and many great cafes & restaurants. Its about a 6 min walk into Chinatown where you will find hawkers markets with great eating. Secondly, the pool is excellent with a bar - this is my essential criteria for a hotel, especially at the end of a hot day when you need a good cocktail or beer. Thirdly, there is a laundry on the 2nd floor with 2 machines preloaded with washing powder & dryers. Fourthly, the rooms are spacious, clean, A/C with good beds. If you are noise phobic like me, just ask for a room away from the lifts etc and the staff will readily assist. We had a lovely quiet room on the 5th floor which overlooked the pool. Fifthly, the buffet breakfast is fantastic and accommodates all dietary types. They also do an awesome evening buffet dinner. The Coffee is not great at breakfast so walk over the road to the Craftsmen Coffee Shop and you will get an excellent latte – they also do good food at this café and are open 7 days. Finally, the hotel has a 12pm checkout and will store your luggage whilst you spend your last day sightseeing or sitting by the pool. You can then get a free shower and freshen up on the 2nd floor before flying out – this saved us considerable money instead of hiring a hotel room at the airport for a shower. Overall, this is a great hotel, lovely staff, immaculately clean rooms, great pool and perfect location. We would recommend it to any Aussie!

After a stay of 5 days we can confirm what others have said, location is good for most sights, staff are professional and friendly and hotel is clean and smart. You can get almost everwhere by the MRT both Clarke Quay and Fort Canning stations are easy walks away including Marina Bay the Botanical Gardens and the Night Safari/ zoo. No taxis needed.
Breakfast time is a bit of a scrum but food, is fresh and topped up no matter what time you arrive. Strangely, the in-room toiletries are not good, it was impossible to get the shampoo to lather there was no bar soap and everything came in tiny plastic bottles, and we could all do with less plastic! Towels were pretty worn too but we appreciated the robes and slippers in the room.
The wait times for the lift were sometimes lengthy as one of the four was not working for our full 5 day stay.

We loved our stay at the Paradox Singapore Merchant Court, the location was amazing and we were able to walk to shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was very clean, spacious and we had 4 large windows to see the river views. The bed was comfortable, a large bathroom with make up mirror always great to have and safe, drawers, iron and robes in wardrobe. All made this a great stay. Staff were friendly and efficient and always happy to answer our questions on how to get to various attractions. We highly recommend staying and we will be back to stay again.

Positive experience, the hotel is in an excellent position one minute from the metro. The rooms are clean, spacious and with excellent amenities (boiler with coffee and tea, 4 bottles of water a day, toothbrush, bathrobe and more) good wifi, shame about the air a little noisy air conditioning and little space (even if the room was spacious) to store t-shirts and other things. Sumptuous breakfast but although there was everything and more you have to pay for an espresso coffee as an extra. Good swimming pool, extremely courteous and helpful staff. The fact of being able to leave your luggage and also the possibility of taking a shower and changing even after the check up was much appreciated. I think the prices are medium-high (but having paid the company I cannot give an objective opinion)

Well placed hotel, very near to Clarke Quay, one road away. There is a MTR station within the building opposite that can get you everywhere very cheaply, safely and very clean. Hotel has a pool and aqua activities available. Restaurant for breakfast is excellent, rooms are large and comfy. Staff are pleasant and helpful, no complaints at all. We had a very early privately arranged Hotel transfer to the Airport which was good in that the lady driver gave us a running commentary of everything around and an insight into everyday life for locals with regard to tourists- however it was very expensive against an ordinary taxi which you would have to organise yourself. Something to bear in mind. Very many food options nearby and they are comparably priced or much cheaper than in the UK. Would stay there again next time, excellent.

My friend and I went for buffet dinner at the Ellenborough Market and very pleased with the variety of food, a good mixture of local and international options to choose from. We enjoyed the fresh oysters and lobsters most, salmon sashimi was fresh too. For the local options, we loved the prawn noodle and kueh pie tie, also the durian penget for dessert. The waitress who attentively attended us was Ms. Mee Chin, she cleaned our plates promptly for us to ready to get more servings. She was very courteous assuring that all was well and she helped me with my blouse zipper too, very much appreciated. Would definitely go back for more.

I wish to compliment a staff at the Ellenborough Market Cafe named Mee Chin which was very diligence in her work and quick action in clearing the enpty plates on the dining dining table. As we were offer a small table which we cant place too many plates and worry we might drop them, Ms Mee Chin quickly help in clearing our tables fast which we can enjoy the buffet with ease. Thank you so much💪👍🏻

This was a great location on Clarke Quay and in between yellow and red hop on and hop off bus stops. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on food. The room was cleaned daily and had very high ceilings which made them feel light and airy. We were on the pool level which was quite a walk from reception, down and up a few stairs with a heavy suitcase and no offer of help. The bathroom was modern and spacious. Wi-Fi was good.
Pool was nice and refreshing in the heat. This was an expensive hotel but likely because of the location.
The entrance lobby smelled amazing!

Where to begin, the check-in was fast but I was surprised when asked for a $500 deposit which I thought was excessive. Our room was on 7th floor and whilst a bit smaller than what i thought it would be from photos was Ok. We asked for an additional chair so that I was not sitting on the bed lst my husband used the chair at the desk. Bed was not that comfortable mattress needs to be updated but pillows were fine and lots of them and you could choose different types if you wanted. Breakfast was a standard buffet which I found to be good lots of choices for everyone and you could get eggs cooked as you liked. We did not eat lunch or dinner at the hotel so cannot comment on that but we had afternoon tea in the cafe which was very good. I was hoping to use the pool but the lounges fir me are too low, my legs don’t bend like they used to, a chair would have been good for old folks like me.
We choose this hotel because it was so close to Clarke quay and the restaurants. They have a laundry for quests but it costs $13 each for the washing machine and dryer.
