We booked three rooms at the Frangrance Hotel (aka ibis budget Clarke Quay). The first night no all of us got the quality of the rooms we booked. With the help of the front desk we were able to rectify this. The concierges at the front desk were all very helpful and supplied us with enough water to drink every day. The rooms were smal and aircons were blowy. Beds were good. The highlight of the hotel was the close location to the MRT, buses, Chinatown, Clarke Quay and St Pauls Catherdal which we attended on Christmas Day. The bathroom was small and the floor had to wiped down after every shower as there is no separate shower cubicle. The pool on the top floor was also nice.

Me and my partner had booked a superior room for our three nights in Singapore but boy was it small! If you are two people with 2 pcs of luggage and handluggage you will struggle! Cleanliness was very good and the staff in Reception were very helpful but it is worth checking out how many square meters you get before making the reservation. Breakfast is served in a local cafeteria right next to the hotel and it is really cool. Very authentic if you like it that way (but you can get a traditional breakfast if you want to be more traditional). Great location since it is so close to Clarke Quay and I would definately stay there again...but perhaps in a suite.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us at ibis budget - Clarke Quay, and appreciating our excellent location, high standards of housekeeping services and wonderful people, as well as loving the delicious breakfast served by Killiney Café. As Singapore is a small city state, rooms in economy-tiered hotels are not spacious, but they are functional and have all the necessary features to provide guests with a comfortable rest. Our rooms have been carefully designed to balance comfort and affordability. We would love to welcome you back with us very soon. Please consider staying in our Family Room for a spacious and comfortable stay for two. Best Regards, Thaddaeus Guest Experience Executive

Singapore is expensive for accommodation and so we were happy with this hotel based on the price we paid. We had a room without a window which was fine and the beds and air con worked fine. They now have a fridge in the room which is good. The shower and toilet are together and so you do get a bit of water on the toilet, but it was fine for us (some people may not like this arrangement). Good location near 2 mtr stations and 5 minute walk to Clark Quay and shopping mall. The pool was nice for a swim but very limited seats. We walked the 10 minutes to the Maxwell hawker centre for breakfast which is a cheap place to eat compare to the cafe next door, plus you get to try local foods.

Firstly I begin by saying that the staff and housekeeping were quite on the ball when it came to cleaning the room, refilling the bottled water etc.

They also helped with laundry delivery etc. This is a good aspect of their service. They were generally friendly on the whole.

However, our sleep was severely affected, no matter whether day or night. There would be banging sounds of doors and sounds of moving of furnitures even till 1am. One time, the walls were vibrating.

I am not sure if it is due to the structure of the door but we did bring this up to the reception. Apparently the doors were very hard to close properly. This meant that the hotel staff should educate each guest on the way to close it without making that much disruptive noise to their neighbours. Also I hope the hotel does checks on each levels from time to time to ascertain the causes of these noises. We had to buy multiple ear plugs and play white noise every night.

Secondly we smelt smoke in our room toilet for almost a week plus before it dissipated. Yes, the hotel did provide an ioniser but beyond that they failed to go at the root of the issue- irresponsible and illegal behaviour of smoking within the room. This would occur between 8 to 10am every morning for 1 week plus. We even had to fork out our own money to buy a humidifier to clear up the air.

Our 4 month long term stay was fraught with many troubles and while we know the staff is doing their part, we still feel greatly disappointed at the experience. We trusted IBIS to deliver due to past good experiences but it seems we were let down.

If possible, a gesture of compensation would surely go a long way to making up for the expenses we paid in order to keep ourselves comfortable through the various issues.

Horrible experience with them. First of all, we had to pay a bill of +1400$ for only 6 nights there, even though:
- the current room price was a lot lower than that
- the swimming pool was closed for refurbishment
- there were refurbishment works everyday (noise + smell paint).

For that price, you get a room barely the size of a cupboard, with no breakfast included, and a small window with a view on garbage bins.

We asked to be transferred to another hotel, which they kindly accepted to do. 5 days after the transfer, I realized that my passport went missing. So I called the hotel to ask if they found it, but they assured me that it couldn’t be in the room cause “they cleaned it thoroughly”. I missed my flight, searched for my passport all over Singapore, then called the hotel again. Once again, they said my passport couldn’t be there since they had “cleaned everything”. So I had no options left but to file a loss report and apply for a new passport.

Well, guess what the next clients found in my hotel room?

I can’t believe the staff couldn’t be bothered to check if my passport was there after I called them 2 days in a row. If the new clients hadn’t found it, I would never had gotten it back! And my guess is that it probably wasn’t hidden that well, since the clients found it despite not knowing that there was a passport to find. It says a lot about how they clean up rooms...

I lost my flights and ongoing bookings for the rest of my trip, had to pay $140 for my new passport, $120 for the indian visa I lost, plus I also lost my thai education visa which was a LOT more expensive than that, which IS a problem because I live in Thailand (so I can’t even go back where I live). And I’m stuck in Singapore until God knows when, paying accommodation until I get a new passport in maybe 2 weeks. Which I wouldn’t have to do if the hotel had taken my calls seriously!

One staff member was nice and professional so I’ll give 1 star for that, but except for that avoid that hotel at all costs.

We stayed at Ibis Budget hotel Clarke Quay which was in Hongkong Street, located at a very good and clean location, 5 -7 mins walk to Clarke Quay, where there were enormous cuisine restuarants by the river front. We booked 3 sharing room where we got 1 double bed & 1 single. For us the room was good, not very small. There was a mirror, bath with hot water facility.
Front desk staff were friendly, good house keeping staff. There was a small 7 store open 24/7 just next to our hotel at hongkong street. We got breakfast Vouchers, there are 5-6 options to choose from from the set menu. Good breakfast as well. Quick Service. We loved our stay in the hotel and in Singapore. We travelled in first week of Feb 2023.
We also walked from Merlion to Clark Quay (15-20mins) and had dinner and walked back to our hotel.

Thank you very much to the Hotel & Cafe staffs.

My room is by the pool, so the view is beautiful. There are sufficient hangers and hooks to hang towels and clothes compared to other budget hotels which is convenient. There is a small gym that only allows 1 person per entry due to Covid. The location is excellent, near to Clarke Quay MRT, with lots of food.

Response from Jack Chee, General Manager at Ibis Budget Singapore Clarke Quay

Dear Loh, Thank you for sharing your wonderful stay experience with the rest of the travellers here! Ibis budget Singapore Clarke Quay is a favourite accommodation choice among the many travellers here in Singapore. Located in the business district and yet close to the many tourist sites such as Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and the nearby Chinatown District, many guests had found this place convenient for their travels. For fitness enthusiasts, there is a fitness centre located on the pool floor, offering an exercise bike and a treadmill. Besides enjoying a swim at the outdoor pool, guests can marvel at the city sights on this rooftop, whereby the distinctive Singapore skyline is majestic by day and dazzling by night. Located within a 5mins walk from the hotel is the Clarke Quay MRT Station, where guests can board a train and travel conveniently to the various places of interests around the island. Guests can also enjoy a wide variety of food during their stay here, starting with a hearty breakfast at our hotel’s café located at the ground floor. Lunch and dinner options are also aplenty, from the restaurants at the nearby Clarke Quay Central Mall to the international cuisine offered at the dining establishments situated along the Clarke Quay and Boat Quay riverbanks. Thank you for choosing ibis budget Singapore Clarke Quay as your preferred accommodation choice here in Singapore! The Hotel Team is happy that you had awarded a perfect score for your hotel stay and we hope to see you again soon! Regards, Jack Chee Senior Customer Relations Manager

1 night stay at this hotel. Check in was fast, I got a room next to the swimming pool on the 6th floor. The swimming pool is simple but does the job. A decent view from the rooftop.
Happy to see they put the fresh towels directly there. I was scared my room would be noisy, but it was well soundproof. Room was small, and the shower worked well. Hotel was clean. There is a 7/11 right below the hotel which is open 24/7. Staff was professional but no special attention to tourists, but I was happy they collected my Uber Eats orders.
The included breakfast was average in the restaurant on the ground floor. (Do not lose the ticket you get at check in!)
At the time I was there in Feb 2023, there was construction in the building next door, so you may hear noise during daytime.
What shocked me was Ibis in Singapore stopped giving a bottle of water, supposedly for being eco-friendly. It is simply a cheap way of saving money.

My Ibis Budget in central London was half the price of Singapore!
Singapore is expensive, so I think it was a decent price for the location and amenities. The area Clarke Quay is expensive, but everything is a walkable distance, albeit in a hot and humid atmosphere. I took a taxi from the hotel to the Marina Bay Sands, which is about 2Km distance, and it costed me SGD 15. The amount I spent in 24hrs in Singapore is the same amount I spent in 1 week in Malaysia. Good luck!

Had a 3D 2N staycation in a superior twin bed room at Ibis Budget Clarke Quay. The room is clean, bed abit hard but otherwise relatively comfortable.

The bathroom wise is small , perhaps the flooring can have some anti slip surface / quick dry surface as it seems alittle hard to dry.

What I love about Ibis Clarke quay is its central location, with plenty of good food its easy to get to Chinatown and walk around clarke quay area.

it just took me a 15 mins stroll to get to my workplace at Raffles place.

Enjoyed the short staycation at Ibis Budget Clarke Quay

The hotel is nothing overly fancy but it is more than enough for what I needed. I stayed here as a solo traveller to see the sights of Singapore needing somewhere decent to sleep, wash, have breakfast, and cool off in a pool all at a decent price. This hotel ticked all those boxes. I was impressed by my room despite the negative feedback from other travellers. It was not huge and there wasn't much storage for my clothes but it did the job. There is a travel kettle with coffee, a hair dryer, shower gel, and toothbrush provided. I was disappointed that there was no bar of soap or handwash. The shower and the toilet are together, there is no shower door. Maybe they could install a curtain to stop the water going everywhere. I was happy with breakfast. There is a set menu you can choose from. I had the western breakfast every day which was scrambled eggs, ham, beans, and 2 croissants. You can choose coffee or juice. Lovely pool at the top which I think is excellent they have this as it is a budget hotel. They just need a few more seats up there for when it gets a bit busy. They allowed me to leave my luggage in reception on check out day as my flight was in the night which was accommodating of them. The location is very good, 15 minute walk to Merlion and 2 minute walk to MRT. I would definitely stay here again and reccomend it if you are there to sight see and need a decent place to come back to. It is basic but definitely adequate.
