My family and I stayed here last year, as a conversion from an old opera house it has an amazing vibe. Although travelling in three the rooms i have to address are too small and oddly shaped. As a room on the corner it seemed smaller than the others. The bathroom was tiny and you can hardly move around in...

Pros : + Affordable, but you could find much better option with slightly higher rates + Close to coffee shops and restaurant Cons : + (Single person) Rooms are tiny and oddly shaped + Building's Lobby and gangway are dark and dingy + Staff doesn't speak fluently in English, despite English is Singapore's primary languange + Luggages are left on...

I guess it is OK to stay here for a day. As i was looking for an accomodation within Chinatown, I chose this one. As I was solo, I chose a standard single room and I regret. The room was so small for the price that i have paid (100$+) per night. I am not sure whether it was my...

The location is the good, the hotel design is excellent as well, both the interior design and how they utilize the space in room and common area. The staff are helpful. One warning issue is the noise from the busy China town area until late night, but it was not a problem for me. There is no restaurant in the...

Don't book a single room unless you want to feel like you're in a coffin, as it has no windows and with the black and deep red decor, it's very claustrophobic. I paid more and upgraded to a double with window as i couldn't bear to be in the windowless single room. The location is very good as it's right...

I stayed here as a solo traveller for 3 days 2 nights. Though the room is small, I have enough space for my 20" luggage. The room and toilets are clean which is very important to me. Santa Grand Lai Chun Yuen is a 3-star hotel, so do not expect the bed to be as comfortable as a 4 or...

We thought to stay a 2 days in Singapore and decided to stay in Chinatown. The room was too small, the shower was just hanging above the sink, matrass was too hard to sleep on, airco blowing straight on your face, outside very noisy, as were the neighbours. Also 17% was added to the rate for tax and service charge,...

Positives: the staff are extremely helpful, kind and easy to talk to/understand English. The rooms were clean and sufficient and the complimentary components were a nice touch. The major positive was its location in the centre of China Town and in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Negatives: Rooms were surprisingly smaller than the pictures online and bathroom shower...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
