Lovely room on top floor. Clean and equiped more like a four star with all the extras (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo etc. but very cheap. Convenient bus into city. Nice people. Lovely patio to sit out in. Couldn't fault it and as I was very sick and had to spend our entire five days in our room it was just as...

I stayed here for 3 days. The price is affordable compare to other expensive hotels in Singapore. The staff was good, helpful and very polite. The room was clean but smells smoking and very small. Hotel wasn't maintained well. Location wasn't that good as it considered as red-light district and i didn't know. They are no train stations around and...

This hotel is located about four blocks from the rapid transit station. I should warn travelers that you walk through a male prostitute area during the night. There are also a number of restaurants and Chinese grocery stores along the way. The rapid transit station has a bakery and juice shop and we ended up patronizing them every day.

A new choice in a familiar quarter. I stayed for parts of two days before and following a trip to Malaysia. The property completely fulfilled my expectations in ALL aspects and exceeded several of them. A planned power outage of one hour resulted in my being upgraded to a family room on my first visit. Hot water, at both shower-tub...

Small room size is the order of the day in Singapore. So, I guess it is even pointless to mention that. I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights with my wife and it was not that too bad in comparison with many other Singapore Hotels. It is indeed an old hotel, The staff (all senior in their 50's) are...

This was the only available hotel room (not the backpackers sort) we could find in Singapore below RM 200.... we were well aware that it is located in a seedy red light district but we figured that it'd be OK since we were travelling as a couple (I don't recommend that single female travellers stay here...). Cons: Room smelled of...

Staying in Geylang

Neighbourhood Profile
Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city centre, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colourful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
