Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, Singapore, is often celebrated for its family-friendly atmosphere and a plethora of amenities tailored to both children and adults, but some guests feel the experience doesn't justify the high cost, noting the rooms as overpriced with concerns about size and datedness. While the hotel's cleanliness and service generally receive praise, with its location near key attractions and scenic views highly regarded, occasional issues with pool maintenance and service delays have been called out.
Despite this, the hotel's comprehensive offerings and beach access continue to be a draw for families.

The hotel has a great location, right on the sandy beach on Sentosa and with great views over the Strait of Malacca and the island. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and offers Asian, Indian and Western cuisine. You actually sit quite nicely on the terrace of the SilverShell Cafe, but it is either too much (eg cutlery what you still need) or not cleared at all. We were also at the evening buffet on Saturday for the Seafood Festival, really great selection including Boston Lobster and Alaska Kingcrab, very nice. For the high price the ambience is not really suitable, service was also a bit confused when we wanted to order the Beverage Package including wine, which is offered with all buffets for 25SGD per person, the waiter did not even know what we were talking about despite advertising on the table. When we wanted to order more drinks, we always had to call someone. Overall, the hotel is attuned to families with small children, which is why the noise level was also partial. The pool was used at various times of the day as an action playground for children's games, in principle not bad, you just need to know if you are there without children. Nice thing is, the pool is open until 22h and well lit. The beach area, which has a niche existence, really needs improvement. There are some loungers, which have dirty/partly mouldy pads. If guests leave food/beverages here, they are not cleared, causing the birds to plunder these legacies and spread the waste everywhere. It is true that many guests come to the beach only for a swim in the sea and then go back (to the pool or to the room), but the beach deserves more attention, which is really nice. During our stay there was open air cinema on the beach in the evening. Actually a nice idea, but you could hear the music/sound up to the balconies of the rooms with sea view and that disturbs the relaxation. I'd rather the hotel just put out headphones like Silent Parties. Rooms are fine but could use an update, shower curtain in the bathroom actually a NO GO. Tip: If you get a pre-arrival mail from the hotel before arrival, you can bid on room upgrades, there are sometimes great prices in it.

To me, this trip was designed as a getaway from my busy lifestyle, and that's exactly what this hotel gave me. The location is fantastic, considering that it's situated right BY a beach In fact, the highlight of this hotel for me was the beach. The hotel provided guests with kayaks and stand-up paddle boards which you can use for free, and my family greatly enjoyed this, since it gives you something to do other than swimming in the ocean or lounging by the pool. Right by the beach, there are also many lounge chairs, where if you order food through the QR code, staff will bring it directly to you, and you can enjoy food with a stunning view of the beach. But, if you're not feeling the beach for some days during your trip, the swimming pool is also a good place to spend the day. One feature that I absolutely loved was the adult zone, where no kids were splashing around; the jacuzzi was also an excellent addition that made me enjoy the pool all the more. There are also many kids zones within the swimming pool area, with water slides and smaller playing areas. What I loved most about my experience at this hotel, however, was the recreation team, or the 'FUN team', and the activities they organized for the guests. There is a schedule placed on a bulletin board next to the lift area for going up to the rooms. The activities are typically held in the pool and last throughout the day. The one I enjoyed best was underwater boxing, where the staff brought punching bags down to the water. This, as I saw, must have taken quite some effort since they removed the punching bag from the actual pole and moved it down to the water separately. The coach who taught the party of 6-9 people was also very professional, and I had so much fun with this activity, so a special shoutout to the FUN team at this hotel for making my experience so enjoyable. There are also many activities that parents and kids alike can enjoy throughout the day at the pool. One of the most exciting for me was the floating slip-and-slide that spanned across the pool that people tried to cross. Both adults and kids could try this, but it was infinitely more funny watching adults run across but fall in the water. The breakfast is quite typical, and there is everything you would expect to find at a hotel, even though it's not my first time coming here, I'm still surprised at the vast array of food they have in the breakfast buffet. Because there is an outdoor and indoor sitting area, if you have a preference, you may want to arrive early so you don't have to line up, though the outdoor area is more popular. Be aware, however, if you are sitting in the outdoor area, that there are no rafters directly above your head since the resort is home to many birds that like to perch on the rafters and eye for the guests' food when they leave the table. I was unfortunately a victim of their droppings attack.
While the love I have for this resort is truly something, there is something that disappointed me greatly from this trip. Because there is a large shopping mall right outside Sentosa (Vivo City), many guests choose to shop and dine there then take the shuttle bus provided by the hotel that brings you back directly to the hotel. When I visited the resort previously (just earlier in 2023), the shuttle bus was a tour bus, with 60+ seats, though this time I visited, it has switched into a van, with less than 20 seats. Because the mall is a popular site for guests, it would be normal for there to be many guests going to and from the hotel and the mall, though the hotel clearly did not account for this as there were not enough seats for both times I took the shuttle bus. The second time I took the bus, there were actually not enough seats for everyone in my family of three to board, though two kind families had their child sit with them (three people sharing two seats) so we could fit on. This is not only unsafe for those sharing their seats, but also unfair to those who have lined up for the bus but were not able to board, since the alternative way back to the hotel is either by taxi or the monorail, though this does not take you directly back to the hotel. If the hotel were to keep the small van, there should be more shifts throughout the day, instead of the once-an-hour shift the shuttle bus operated on when I was there.

A true 5 star resort! Check-in was smooth and did not keep us waiting around too long before we were seen to, promptly checked in and taken to our room with bags. We were located on the lobby level in a deluxe pool view room, which if the hotel would have been busy would have saved the quest for the lift if located on higher floors. The room was large, clean, well maintatined and fully equipped. The hotel appeared to be quiet with plenty of availability at the restaurants and being able to find sun lounges by the pool in a number of prime sun-seeking or shaded spots. The quality of the food at all of the restaurants was something even Gordon Ramsey could not find fault with. The evening buffet at the Silver Shell Cafe was the highlight for my kids as the selection of food and deserts was more than their big eyes and big tummies could comprehend. The staff in all of the restaurants were extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble, actually that is not reserved for the restaurants, all the staff in the resort were amazing. The pool area was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed the slides (choice of 3) and the splash zone. The positioning of the loungers allowed us to be close enough to still engage without actually getting wet unless the kids wanted an additional play mate. Pool towels provided poolside and a QR code by each lounger table enabling us to order food and drinks directly to our location without moving. Food and drinks were very reasonably priced (1st time in Singapore and I was fearing the worst, however I found them to be Perth prices). Hotel was a short walk to the shuttle bus or the cable cars to get around the island and beyond. Would I stay again? Well we enjoyed it that much I was sat there on the morning of our departure costing up flight changes to extend our stay, unfortunately a change of date was a more than what I paid for a return flight. I know for next time that 4 days just is not long enough at this resort.

This is our nth time staying at Rasa Sentosa but the frontdesk team never fail to impress us time and again. During our last stay, my wife had casually mentioned to Jessie that she realised there is no coke zero served on the property unlike Shangri-la Singapore. This time round, much to my wife's delight, our mini bar was filled with coke zero on the day we checked in. This kind of personal touch and the hospitality displayed by Kathleen and Jennifer is what entice us to come back time and again to stay. We really appreciate their efforts in going the extra mile everytime.
Over to Silver Shell and Trapizza, the food and service rendered by the staff is also another factor that we love coming to Rasa Sentosa. They always go above and beyond to ensure our dining experience there is wonderful and accede to our requests to their best ability all the time. Special thanks to Sabrina, Rina, Yoges, Kumar, Johash, Sang, Sakun, Mustafa and other staff at Trapizza.
Although the playground at Toots Club is not as big as Buds at Shangri-la Singapore, the staff there are very friendly and made the whole environment feel so lively and cosy, especially Feon and Wynn.
Also, thanks to the Fun Team for all the activities they arrange. My girl loves the daily balloon received during breakfast and adores meeting Daria at the lobby. The lady from the Fun Team (which my wife didnt get her name) is very engaging and greets us whenever she see us on the property.
Not to forget, we wanna thank Antony from the Housekeeping team who always diligently and efficiently make-up and turndown our rooms within the specific timeframe. It feels extremely good to come back to the super tidy room after breakfast or dinner.
Overall, we always look forward to our next stay there as we know we will be well taken care of there and definitely guaranteed to have a fantastic time there.
Special mention of Jalil from the Life Guard team. My wife witnessed a drowning incident involving a toddler at the big pool. She mentioned that as more kids play at the big pool, she saw Jalil came down from the high chair and stood at the side of the steps leading to the pool. It was this initiative that enabled Jalil to immediately walk into the water and pull a little boy up when he was grasping for air near the stairs. Although parents should always watch out for their kids at the pool, having good lifeguards like Jalil is really assuring.

Shangri la is kids heaven. The location is super convenient if your going to be doing a lot of activities around sentosa. However if your a couple do not stay here. ITs a family resort . We travelled with our two boys 3 and 7. The pool area is great for kids and the movies by the beach at night is really nice as well as the other activities on the beach. Having said that we are used to luxury properties like capella nearby ( which we stayed in for a few days before coming to shangri la). Shangri la is not a luxury property its outdated but its very functional and service is excellent. The breakfast is more like that really busy style where you have to make your own coffee the pool food is also really average not tasty at all. Having said that as long as your willing to make some sacrifices like food/ breakfast busyness etc then the hotel definitely makes up for it in other areas. The service is great, the rooms are very good even though slightly outdated. The hotel is a bit noisy, water aerobics loud music starts at 8am. The reception staff are very nice and all the hotel staff were very friendly including the kids club staff. The staff in the the kids club were always smiling and looked after our kids well and always called us if our kids needed to leave. There is a shuttle that can take you to vivocity ( nearby shopping) and to resorts world. I think the only thing i would suggest to staff is that this should be more often 40mins was definitely too long and on some occasions we waited at the shopping centre and the bus never came. We had a late flight our last day and they gave us access to a refresher room which was fantastic to have a shower and get changed etc. Shangri la was still fantastic and i would still recommend people to stay as long as they understand that its not super luxury and the food is not the best. ( check out my review for cappella which we stayed at)

I booked the Shangri-La directly woth the hotel as I am a travel agent and had told them we were on our Honeymoon. There was no acknowledgement of that until I mentioned it to the staff, then they turned up with a cake amd a bottle of wine. I guess when you're on your Honeymoon, you expect something a little nice in your room when you arrive. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay, in an oceanview room which was nice enough, cool, clean and the bed was comfortable. The brekkie was great, everything you could want no matter which country you're from. We also had dinner in the restaurant both nights we were there which was delicious. The pool area was nice and big and a section was roped off for adults only! Plenty of banana lounges and the bar was good. The property is in a great location, close to the station and you can stroll along Siloso Beach Walk.
We also caught Grab taxis a few times, which was nice and easy. Overall I would recommend staying here if you want to be on Sentosa 😀

Simply put, this is an amazing resort suited for families. You'll wake up each day in a comfortable room with great beds, icy air conditioning, well appointed bathrooms and plenty of complimentary boxed water (to keep you hydrated in the Singaporean weather). You can then head down to the most amazing breakfast buffet you could ask for, drop your kids off at the kid's club and then go have a swim in the pool. Just great.

From the outset this hotel let itself down and so unnecessarily so. On arrival we were asked to pay the whole bill plus 200 Singapore dollars a night (we had booked 10 nights) for any extras that we might incur. We had not been made aware of this upon booking. We arrived at 11.30 pm and we’re very tired, after going to the 11th floor we discovered that the key wouldn’t work so back to reception, it was a poor start. The breakfast was chaos, children running everywhere and certainly not a quiet place to enjoy a morning coffee. After 9 nights whilst chatting to another guest we were informed that there was an adult only breakfast room on floor 6 so after buying breakfasts to eat in our room from the local M and Spencer we ventured there and it was a delight. Shame we didn’t know anything about it until the last day. We also found out by accident that there was a shuttle bus from the Hotel into town and that getting back into Sentosa required a QR code that was on show in reception… just very frustrating information that instead of being so keen to take our payment upon arrival could have actually been shared so that our trip would have been better. On check out we requested a refund of the un used deposit and I have now emailed 3 times but can’t get a response as to when they might action the refund, the second email actually got them to send the promised email bill. It’s a nice hotel with a pleasant pool and an ok beach but we are disappointed in the communication and subsequent behaviour.

We just spent 1 night at this hotel after doing the Ritz Carlton and Mandarin in Singapore; we wanted to see a hotel on the resort island. We didn't like it because it's a "factory" hotel, that is to say with a lot of rooms and people; it is even reported that the wait for breakfast between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. can sometimes reach 30 or even 60 minutes.
The welcome when we arrived was terrible, the person very unpleasant and expeditious; we ourselves had to ask the porter where our room was etc... A duty manager took care to take our return into account and offer us a meal = we appreciated the person's follow-up and understanding. The connecting rooms are pleasant with a sea view balcony and there are special touches in the rooms (macaroons, chocolates, cakes, etc.)
The setting for young children is very good because of the large swimming pool and lots of activities.
There are also many things to do on the island (Hollywood studio etc.) Everything is designed for families with young children if the weather is nice; in case of rain it's a lot less fun because nothing is covered.
Food is ok; note that everything is very expensive (pizzas at 25/30 USD etc.)

From the moment we arrived our stay was perfect. We chose a panoramic sea view room which was spacious and well laid out. The bed was very comfortable and all the usual amenities were complimentary and readily available. The pool area is divided up into family and adults only, meaning that you get all the liveliness of children but an uncrowned area in the pool to swim without dodging families. The hotel is a short walk from Siloso beach (2 mins from the pool) with all its bars and restaurants, plus the monorail station. There are washing machines available on some floors if you need to do laundry which will wash and dry free of charge, you need to be organised though because they are very popular.
Breakfast is extensive, with everything you could want, plus more. They also have hot milo in the coffee machine which is a definite bonus. You will see monitor lizards strolling around the grounds and taking a leisure dip in the pool, plus some very confident peacocks and hens supervising everyone!!
The duty manager, Catherine, recognised us on our second visit and kindly sent up some lovely chocolates to the room as a thankyou for returning.
We stayed for 3 nights but then cancelled our city hotel at the end of our holiday and returned to Sentosa because we loved the hotel so much.
We will definitely return!

You can book all inclusive packages I think. But don't. There are other places to eat nearby - nice restaurant just a few minutes walk away. Also the lunches by the pool are reasonably priced. Just do bed and breakfast
I think you can use the shower provided next to the pools. My suggestion is to email the hotel with your specific request. They may try their best to help you
There are more places to choose from in the Sentosa Island area.
