Shangri-La Boracay receives accolades for its serene atmosphere and spotless, well-maintained premises, with guests enjoying the spacious rooms decked with modern amenities. Many visitors appreciate the hotel's attentive service and picturesque location, ideal for sunset admirers and ocean view enthusiasts, though the occasional monkey may join in.

This property is one of those places that grows on you... the longer you stay the more you love it the more you want to return.
People make a place and all of the staff are amazing from being greeted at the airport, the reception, the gardeners, the lifeguards, restaurant staff, housekeeping, chefs, everyone, happy, welcoming, efficient always smiling.
Pros - Make sure you advise hotel of your flight details. Their airport meet & greet boat transfer is efficient and sets you up for the start of your Shangri-La experience in the best possible way. - Food is of excellent quality and sensibly priced in all outlets. We tried all the restaurants, our favourite for dinner being Sirena (especially seated in the lower Cabanas) and Rima. Portions are generous enough to share dishes, all beautifully presented. - Breakfast buffet is amazing, one of the best we've ever sampled, simply huge, so much choice. Quite experiential as you get to try so many different Filipino and other Asian dishes, many which changed each day. The staff there are amazing too given it can be packed at peak times, you never have to wait long for your empty plate to be cleared to offered another beverage. Tip - enjoy early breakfasts and sit outside on terrace with views... most people sit inside. - Rooms are very spacious. Lovely bed linen. Generous large bottles of Shangri-La water constantly replenished. Multi-plug socket including USBs so no need to bring adaptors. - if booking a Deluxe sea-view, ask for high floor (top is 6th), ideally first block closest to main building as not obstructed by tall palm trees. - recommend booking a Villa, especially with pool and view (Villa 10 if only need one bedroom), the whole experience is super special and worth it, it is enormous with a great sized pool, very private with butler on end of phone to organise anything you need. - Excellent beach service, never run out of towels, always coming round offering iced water or taking drinks orders, exceptional. - The gardens are immaculate.
No cons because when we had an issue, we contacted the management who sorted it out immediately in the most thoughtful and appropriate way, our thanks to Hisabel Alfonso.
Final thanks to our charming efficient butler Julius. He checked us out of our Villa and whisked us in the buggy to the waiting boat back to the airport, so our holiday ends with a high and a sigh leaving behind a bit of paradise.

First of all, the overall property is really luxurious. It's quite far from everything else but if some seclusion and excellent food is something you're looking for in Boracay, then I doubt this place will disappoint you. We stayed at their Treehouse villa and all I can say is WOW. Just WOW. Excellent views of the ocean? Romantic seclusion? Check. Waking up and seeing those semi misty glass windows and hearing the birds singing as you take sips from that cup of caffeine after you've just woken up? Check. 24/7 private butler service from a person who seems like he really appreciates how management treats him and has been employed by the resort pretty much ever since it was opened, resulting in his all-smiles and exemplary service? Check.
Pros: - Absolutely great food. Everything I had was brilliant. If you like your Filipino treats, please do try their "biko." They serve this during breakfast. I don't know what sort of rice they use or what secrets they have in there but sheesh, it's a unique take on the delicacy and I can shamelessly admit that I probably had way too much of it - Proper Shangri-la service. I've been to a few around the world and this place DOES NOT disappoint. I think it's important to mention this because some of their properties that I wouldn't mention do lack a tad bit on this section. Not being picky but if you're paying top dollar for a Shangri-La experience then you would undoubtedly have a certain level of expectation. All I'm saying is that the people here are very well trained and very natural AND just generally happy, from what I've observed and experienced - Not sure if they have it included regardless of your package but the airport pick-up/drop-off service is great since they are really at the tail end of the island - Free shuttle service to/from the commercial part of the island (they have specific time slots)
Could be a con or could just be meh, don't care: - Location could be a slight detriment for some as it's really far from the main hub

We spent four fabulous nights here and we had the opportunity to try both of the hotel's high end villas. Our original room booked was a Tree House Villa on top of the hill with magnificent views. These two-level rooms are extremely spacious with a lower level bedroom and a sprawling upper level great room and small terrace with hot tub. These villas are very nice but they require you to go outside and up some private stairs to reach the upper room. The rooms are well appointed but the buildings are getting a little weather-worn. Nice amenities, towels, etc. Unfortunately there was some construction noise from an adjacent property that went on through the night which was something the hotel could not seem to control. So, fortunately for us, the Villa Manager, Mr. Sani, was kind enough to offer us an upgraded room which was a pool villa, which was amazing! These are also two level units but this villa had the bedroom on the top floor and a living area and huge private plunge pool on the first level accessible through a stairway which is inside the villa which we preferred. These rooms are incredible with a kitchen area, living room and patio, with a large, palapa covered outdoor eating table. There are two bathrooms with a guest bath down below and a nice sized bath upstairs with endless views. I would have booked this room to begin with if I had known how nice they were! We rarely went to the main pool which was compact but nice. Excellent pool bar and restaurant, and two separate beach areas for those who like to put their toes in the sand. The lounge chairs had nice pads for all day lounging comfort as well. There are many restaurants to choose from on property and all are excellent. We had two memorable dinners with our friends. The speedboat access is also a unique treat and worked very efficiently and there was a nice check-in building when you arrive at the dock which is a nice touch. Not much to walk to from this hotel but White Beach is a quick taxi ride and can be a fun party spot but you really don't need to leave the property. The location is hilly thus affording amazing views and they have excellent golf cart service to speed you up and down the hills. An amazing stay and we will return!

We're in a hotel right now. Room 421. Of all the hotels in Boracay- this hotel looks really much better. Probably the best. From something that wasn't worth its money: 1. Disgusting room cleaning. Please indicate a convenient time for cleaning twice a day upon arrival. But the janitor comes when it suits him. Sometimes he doesn't come at all. Park has been in a situation where there are no towels in the room. Not one. It's understandable what you might have forgotten and not brought. And it's clear what came in 40 minutes. But we're also talking about the best hotel, which is an order of magnitude above the rest. The room always smells damp, opening and ventilating the room is not an option because of the noise (this is the next item). No glasses, tea or water cups were brought into the room for the first week. There's water, there's a coffee machine, there's a kettle-- what to drink from-- it's not clear. We were asked to bring it all to the room- reacted as with towels, in 40 minutes brought 1 glass and 1 cup (there were two of us). The next day they took it and again they didn't bring 2 days. Until I called and asked again. 2. The jokes of endless weddings are under our window. And I think we're even happy for the newlyweds, but when there's music outside the window at 2:00 a.m. and the front desk says, "Excuse me, I'll tell the manager, it doesn't look serious at all for the best hotel on the island. 3. Well, the hotel needs renovation. 4. It's very slow.

Full, courteous service from the airport and throughout our 4-night stay. Quick transport from the airport by minibus and boat to the private pier where drummers greet every arrival. Though offered an upgrade to a private villa (extra $$) we decided to keep our regular room which was spectacular: large bathroom and sleeping area, room for table & double daybed on the balcony overlooking the beach! Breakfast buffet was beyond belief: sweet, savory, and international choices for all ages, beautifully displayed. Service was attentive and we only wished we had room to eat more. Spent every day at the pool/private beach. There are a variety of seating options with excellent bar and food service beginning at 11am. There was unobtrusive music near the bar (not blasting everywhere) with a live trio on the beach each evening. We ate dinners in each of the three restaurants and were pleased again with the service, variety, and quality of delicious options. Oh, and the spa! We each had different but simultaneous treatments in the same room. Scrub & Swedish for me, Phillipine massage for him. Go early to enjoy the koi outside, and the quiet private pool inside. Eventually we had to leave and the desk let us know what time to check out and depart to meet our flight. Excellent service top to bottom: can you tell we recommend the Shanghai-La?

A few days in busy Boracay are a great starting point before heading to the more secluded islands of El Nido, and although as a child-free couple we usually skip family oriented hotels, this Shangri La property was an excellent choice. Their free transfer option from/to the airport on a private boat was greatly appreciated and made our arrival quite easy. We had booked a Loft Villa with private pool and didn’t regret it! Outstanding view over the ocean and prime location to enjoy the renowned sunset, you never wish to leave your villa but be aware resident monkeys often visit the private outdoor area! Our Villa was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean; excellent room service and the nicest staff made our stay fully enjoyable. Don’t expect memorable dining: we enjoyed all 4 restaurants within the property, but only Rima was worth visiting. Would gladly return.

My partner and I spent three days at the Shangri-La Boracay on our trip throughout Southeast Asia. If you’re looking to visit Boracay, or any island in the Philippines, it’s pretty much the only name brand luxury hotel. We booked through Amex FHR and received an upgrade to a sea view room. Typically when we book through FHR the hotel upgrades to at least a junior suite so we were slightly disappointed about that. I understand not upgrading when the resort is at capacity, but we were told they were at about 33% during our stay and suites were available. They offered a discount to upgrade, but it was going to be an extra $250 per night so we declined. Nonetheless the room was excellent and well appointed, making for a comfortable stay.
My other area of note is the food. The breakfast was fantastic, but lunch and dinner, especially at the fine dining restaurants needs work. Firstly the food is bizarrely overpriced and often mediocre at best. We also wanted to sit in one of their cabanas for the sunset at the seafood restaurant, but we were told there was a $1000 minimum spend which quite frankly was ridiculous. The only meal we truly enjoyed was our last night when we ate at Vintana, which has dinner that they just don’t advertise.
Now for some highlights: the beaches were some of the most stunning places I’ve ever been to with crystal clear water and comfortable loungers. The spa services were also phenomenal and would highly recommend.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but the hassle of getting there coupled with these inconveniences makes it a 4/5. Would I go back? Maybe, but I hope other options arise in the area.

Ultimate luxury without putting a dent on your kids’ college funds. From the moment you land in the airport you will be in good hands. Cold towels. Welcome bevvies. Luggage handled. You have your own van and boat to take you to the island. The villa has its own private pool that has a path to lead you to the beach or the bigger common pool. Kids will love the game room with enormous slides and ball pits. Teens will enjoy a separate game room. Buffet can compete with Vegas hotel buffets. Must order “mango shake” (a smoothie not a milkshake) And the beach is just as nice as Turks & Caicos. Powder white sand. The main Boracay strip has diner and whiter sand but this resorts sand is still excellent and worth the privacy.

This is hotel is in a beautiful location that is far enough away from the main tourist area but not too far. All the staff were attentive and kind. The kids club had a great slide and the boys loved going there. Do be aware, if you’re traveling with kids they are not included in the free breakfast buffet per the room. Even if you’re in a “family room”.

White glove service from arrival at MPH. We were greeted at the baggage area of Caticlan airport. They took our bags and we were driven in a comfortable air conditioned van ride to the pier where we waited in a comfortable lounge with complimentary espresso, tea and cold towels for freshening up. After a short wait we were taken by private motor boat direct to pier side at Shangrila (about 20 minutes) where we were transported to the lobby for effortless checkin and offered fresh calamansi juice. The grounds are stunning and perfectly manicured. They allowed us free early checkin which was an unexpected surprise. The staff was courteous and took initiative to offer to take our pictures on several occasions. The overall service was perfect!
The room was perfection and very large. Rain shower direct from ceiling with really hot water and a lot of spray power. Excellent quality soaps and shampoos. Also a large tub. Complimentary nespresso coffee.
Breakfast buffet was the best I’ve ever had. Omelette station, fresh made to order eggs (eggs in Philippines have deeply colored rich yolks probably because of a lack of large scale factory farming). Filipino food section (beef tapa, Pork Tocino, beef paras, chicken adobo, fish dishes), Carving section with ham and lechon, Siomai station, Chicken curry, roasted meats, spicy Korean chicken, sushi station, fresh vegetables and salads (best tomatoes I’ve ever had in Philippines) cheeses, homemade pancakes and waffles with Berry compote, homemade baked Filipino breads, fresh fruits (perfectly ripe mangos, watermelon, kiwis) freshly made juices (strawberry, honeydew melon, watermelon), homemade ice cream (strawberry, chocolate, ube, sherbet).
The pools were awesome. Multiple Infinity pools staffed by lifeguards warning us of the 2 meter deep section. The private beach exclusive to Shangrila was very nice even with rough water. I was able to snorkel and saw a few eels and several parrot fish and wrasses. The other beach that is shared with movenpick and crimson is also very nice and slightly calmer water.
As an added bonus we saw a few Philippine long tailed macaques directly in front of our balcony eating coconuts from the palm tree.
There are literally zero negatives I can think of for our stay. Absolutely superb service and hotel facilities all around. I did not have one negative encounter with any staff members. Worth every penny. It was a bucket list stay for sure.

The Shangri-la has regular boat transfers to Caticlan several times a day, generally to match the departures of flights to Manila, plus I suppose you can arrange for a special trip if you want one. Contact the Shangri-la directly. :)

There are a lot of variables--sea condition, land and air traffic, the lines at the check-in desk, and so on--I suggest you ask for the advice of the Shangri-la staff on the day you're scheduled to leave. They know what they're doing.
They have a free shuttle bus that takes guests to the centre of town where there are lots of restaurant options which are very cheap.
Food prices in the hotel are reasonable if you’re a Westerner but might be a little prices if you’re a local.
Prices are provided by our partners, and reflect total costs of the stay, including all taxes and fees known to our partners. Please see our partners for more details.
