My family and I stayed in Funny Lion almost a week ago and let me tell you it was the best choice to stay when in El Nido.
You will not go wrong when choosing Funny Lion for your accommodation!
Location wise it is near Corong Corong for those who will Island Hop, and it is also walking distance to the town when you want to eat out or buy souvenirs and more. Trikes are also available nearby.
I also want to highlight the perk when being a guest of the Funny Lion is that we have access to the Papaya beach in which the hotel have scheduled drop offs and pick ups for the van and boat when heading to the beach and back to the hotel. The best part of this that it its free of charge, and they give towels as well every time you leave. All you have to worry about is not missing the departure times. Trust me though when I say this, you shouldn’t miss the beauty of the Papaya beach.
Next, is the staff which I really want to highlight in this review. From the front desk, housekeeping, concierge, and the people taking care of us in the bar and buffet are very warm, patient and accommodating. Their amazing personalities and attitudes is what makes Funny Lion the best place. They treat you as family and they really make sure your stay is relaxing and stress free.
Lastly, I want to talk about the rooms which are beautiful and cozy. After crazy adventures of the day it is nice to unwind in your relaxing room, and as far as I know all rooms have a view of the pool which is also tempting to take a dip in. There are also small free snacks and drinks when you first arrive, and the meticulous and speedy housekeeping who always keeps our room in check. Sometimes you forget to tidy up when leaving your room, so when you get back the beds are made and I commend for the animal towel designs left on our bed which are very cute.

The best in town - safe and secure with brand new rooms - all of that with great staff, super friendly and happy to work there.
On one day (we didn’t know they offered that), they brought us free of charge to a private beach the hotel owns and we spent the day there (with they own boat)
Breakfast is included and delicious and the food at the restaurant is great and local styled.
It’s a 3 minutes walk to the Main Street and to me is the best location because the Main Street is just too busy and dirty !

I had the pleasure of staying at the Funny Lion Hotel during my recent visit to El Nido, Palawan. From arranging transportation to recommending tours, local restaurants, and shops, they were always there to offer their expertise and help in any way they could. It was also a pleasure to be warmly greeted by name whenever I returned to the hotel.

The funny lion staff was exceptional at their service!! The ladies at the front desk greeted us every time they saw us and always asking how our day is going. Our luggage was brought up and down from our rooms at check in and check out within a few minutes of us asking. The food and drinks were delicious. Our room was beautiful filled with fresh juices, complimentary bandanas and tote and top it off with a balcony overlooking their pool! Everytime we had to go to the beach as well, they provided towels to use. I would rate this hotel a million over ten. Price per night is also not too expensive and its location is great only having a short walk to el nido downtown for nightlife, restaurants, and bars! You also get a free tour to papaya beach as it is privately owned by the funny lion!

Me and my girlfriend came here during our trip to el nido and throughout the whole time, from checking in to checking out, the staff have all been very warm. The burgers and foods are amazing and I cant stop drinking their white chocolate milkshakes. We booked the kings room and we loved the room as the lights are relaxing and they’re even offering welcome fruit salad and the fridge is already packed with sodas and water and juices and also the room smells very pleasant. The hotel manager is also very friendly.
Overall an amazing experience and is worth every penny!

It was one of the best experiences iv had on my life it was really amazing, the staff is friendly and kind the facility is sooo soo clean and stunningly beautiful, the breakfast ruined all our plans of loosing weight because it was soo delicious, they have an amazing restaurant there, and the location is near from everything that matters, l highly recommend to stay on an ocean view room so you can wake up with more sun light. They drop you for the airport and i think they pick you up too. Cant go wrong with such a place 😍

The Funny Lion is situated in the most perfect location with only a few minutes walk to local bars and restaurants. Only a few minutes tricycle ride to local beaches and sights.
Upon arrival we knew we were in good hands.
Everything from the room service (thank you to our room service guy for having the best sense of humour too 🐶 - you'll know what I mean), the cleanliness of the room, the attentiveness from all the staff - asking for anything via room service happens in seconds! Even the food and ambience by the pool were delightful and delicious.
Shout out to the bar staff for always getting me my gin and tonics. Big shout out to Val and Julie too for their energy!
The staff here are beautiful people who clearly work tireless to ensure their guests are well taken care of.
The Funny Lion should be proud of the establishment that they have created.
Once again thank you so much for eveything. We're on our way to the next Funny Lion in Coron so this is quite exciting coming from everything we had just experienced in El Nido.

The Funny Lion El Nido was the most wonderful experience! Beyond 5-star service. From the minute we arrived after a long 5-hour ferry ride, staff was awaiting us with fresh welcome drinks, cold towels, and escorted us straight to the pool side so that we could rest. Rooms are spotless with cute complimentary touches, breakfast/dinner/happy hour drinks are excellent. The staff assisted us with booking all of our island tours, van transfers, taxi, etc. And they assured that we had everything we needed to feel comfortable without us even asking—umbrellas, extra beach towels/bags, coffee. They even hosted a wonderful grill buffet/karaoke night during the day it was down pouring. I appreciate that each individual took the time to get to know us personally and it honestly made our stay feel more like home than a hotel. I could not recommend a better stay, I look forward to coming back here!

We were given a great welcome as we arrived, helping us with our luggages, express checkin, offered refreshing drinks & cool towels. Assisted us in our rooms made sure we are aware of the room amenities with fresh fruits & fruit juices available for us to enjoy. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Even the hotel manager, Nilo Quizon met us at the lobby & welcomed us warmly making sure our checkin process goes smoothly. The staff are very professional and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and we’ll surely come back. This place is highly recommended. They exceeded our expectations. The hotel has a private beach and they made arrangement to ensure we avail of it for free. We enjoyed Papaya Beach with its fine white sand, green clear warm calm water. Exclusive for hotel guest only. The guide from the hotel helped us to have fun experience. It even has kayak, paddle board & cabana. Towels & drinks were provided too. They also accommodated our craving for lobster that they cooked it for us. The chef did a great job preparing our farewell meal. Thanks to Sir Joel, assistant manager, for making this happen. Our check out process was smooth & they even gave us a parting gift of a bracelet for each one of us. It was so sweet gesture that made our very short vacation memorable. And top it all when we were leaving most of the staff waved to bid us goodbye. We wish we could have stayed longer. I miss you all already. What an unforgettable vacation. Keep up the good work!

We had an excellent stay at the Funny Lion El Nido May 2023. We booked 2 king rooms for 4 nights . The wonderful experience started at the El Nido Airport upon pick up by the staff on a very clean air-conditioned van to bring us to the hotel property. The staff who picked us up was very courteous and helpful . It was not a very long drive, and once at the lobby , we were greeted with a refreshing welcome cocktail drink, cold towellete , and accommodating smiles.
Our room was very clean and well appointed, overlooking the main pool. The room fridge was amply stocked with freshly pressed fruit juices and cold water. There were a generous amount of towels and bath facilities , and the bed was extremely comfortable .The bathroom was well appointed and very clean.
The property has a very nice and long swimming/lap pool with Whirlpool. The water, though, was a bit on the cooler side owing to the lack of direct sunlight to warm it up dur8ng the day. There was a well-appointed bar and restaurant that served refreshing cocktails (ask for the Maldita) and beer both imported and local. On certain nights , the bar host Karaoke nights to the delight of guests. The buffet breakfast was very yummy, the staff very accommodating (they can take your requests for specialty coffee !!! ) and special mention to the chef who prepared for us a couple of requested Filipino breakfast items.
The hotel manager and service desk staff were very accommodating and very helpful in arranging our Papaya Beach day trip ( a private beach property included in the hotel booking), as well as various day trips and excursions. They even helped us with arranging for laundry (very honest staff, proven when they returned a guest wallet left on the laundry bag, intact with nothing missing ) , as well as restaurant and point of interest recommdations !!!
The gymn and spa facilities were situated in the building on the other side of the road , but unfortunately, were still under construction at the time we had this wonderful stay. We will definitely come back and book again in this resort next time we come to visit the Palawan Islands !!!

Not that I saw. The hotel is right on the beach where you can walk and shop. Tons of restaurants to choose from. Great food, and being on the beach at sunset is unbelievable. But the hotel does have a restaurant right on the beach where an elderly person could sit and see the sunset, and people watch from there. Live music in the evening as well. Very nice! Take a blanket and sit on the beach as well, or snorkel, if she swims. Water is shallow so no need to go far in. Tons of fish to see. Hope this helps.
