Charlie's El Nido hotel offers a dynamic experience, where the atmosphere can range from lively, with its loud music, to pleasantly tranquil during dining. The staff's friendliness and efficiency, along with a praised shuttle service, contribute to the hotel's commendable service. While cleanliness is generally well-regarded, some guests feel the maintenance could better reflect the hotel's four-star status. Its location, though serene, may be too isolated for some, yet its proximity to the airport and beaches is a bonus. Room experiences are inconsistent, mixing critique and commendation. The hotel's value and amenities receive mixed feedback, with shuttle frequency being a point of contention for some guests.

Our stay at Charlie’s El Nido was a wonderful experience overall, with several standout features that made it memorable. The transfer service to and from the airport and the town was incredibly convenient, and the concierge team was excellent at arranging tours and spa appointments. Speaking of the spa, it was amazing. I regret not indulging in it every day!

The hotel itself offered a mix of experiences depending on the type of room. We stayed in a luxurious pool-access room, which was spacious and perfect for couples, though the bathroom had an unpleasant smell whenever the exhaust fan was turned on. On the other hand, we noticed that the two-bed rooms were significantly smaller and had more of a hostel vibe, making the hotel feel like it caters to two distinct types of travellers.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the food. The breakfast was outstanding, with a dedicated Filipino food booth every morning serving some of the best local dishes we’ve ever had. The pool was another favourite spot, large and inviting, though the water was a bit chilly.

The hotel’s location also worked well for us. There’s an excellent burger place just a 2-minute walk away, and while some guests mentioned walking to Lio Beach, we opted for the hotel’s complimentary transfer service instead. Overall, despite the price being on the higher side, it’s a reflection of El Nido’s general pricing, and the experience made it worth it.

It was our first time in El Nido and we booked at Charlie's..
There are few things that are really remarkable in this hotel.
1. The service is not just your basic hotel/resort service, all of the staff are doing the extra mile. They are kind to recommend you to restaurants that they think is good. They have been very prompt aswell when we request for something. They also give you cookies whenever they fix your room. The service is personalized. Its not generic.
2. The location is also in the middle of El Nido, either you wanna go north to Nacpan or to the town, it would only take you minutes away. In travelling to El Nido, you will be needing a lot of tricycle ride, van or shuttle services which are being provided by the hotel at a cost except for the shuttle service that is free and with scheduled trips.
3. Cleanliness is superb, the white linens, white slip ons and ofcourse, they rooms and bathrooms are being sanitized with "lysol" you know its clean when they clean it with a brand. ;)
4. The Food and drinks!!!!!!!! You will get the best of Filipino food, their pork bagnet kare kare is good. They also serve breakfast, buffet style beside the pool. Its so inviting. One drink that i really like is the pineapple mint drink, its so refreshing.

Overall, we had a pleasant and memorable stay at the hotel. I dont usually write reviews but with the experience that we had, charlies hotel made our stay very memorable and very pleasant. Kodus to the staff and management.
I hope to be back soon!

We spent two nights at Charlie's during our trip to El Nido. The room was clean and the large balcony overlooked the pool. As soon as we entered the room, a welcome drink was brought to us, so we enjoyed it while relaxing on the balcony.
We requested an extra bed as we were a family of four, but the room was spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped. (However, the extra bed was only a mattress, not a bed...) The breakfast buffet was also satisfying. Also, the hamburger we had for lunch was delicious.
The pool was small, but it was enough to swim and relax on the beach chairs.
There is a shuttle bus to the town and El Nido Beach, so we recommend checking the timetable at the entrance when you check in. Compared to other hotels, I felt that this hotel had good value for money.

Not pleasant

Our stay at Charlie’s El Nido was not a good one, which is shame as this was one of the hotels we were looking forward to the most.

Upon arrival the complimentary airport pick up service was coming an hour and a half after our landing time so we decided to get a trike instead. This was an error and the staff gave us strange looks and an attitude for not waiting. Unfortunately this was just the beginning of the problems.

When we got to our room, we discovered quickly that the fridge wasn’t working, the safe was also broken. The flip flops in the room were used and the Bathroom smelt terrible (poor sanitation/sewage) and the floors were very dirty leaving our feet actually black. The shower also was broken and had to be replaced when we went out.
All these things are basic cleaning and maintenance and it is not what we expect from a 4 star hotel, especially for the price we paid.

Our room. (213) Away from others and next to generator room/janitor cupboard which was very loud especially during blackouts and when being used frequently by staff. The room also had 2 extra single beds on either side, which didn’t fit.
There was birds in the hallway all of the time which are very loud, they left bird droppings all over the walls and made coming in and out of the room comical trying to avoid them.

Breakfast buffet had little to no choice, food is all left uncovered and is neither chilled or heated, we ate out for the duration of the stay. We also had a call from the front desk one morning just to tell us that the breakfast buffet was still open, we had our DND sign on and we did not ask for this.

Room service took two hours for just fries. We had to call to ask again. There weren’t any towels left at the swimming pool one of the days, again we had to ask multiple times.

The location is not the best, it’s near to Lio Beach (not walkable) but it is far from town. The bus schedule is quite irregular and we thought there could be a few extra shuttles in the afternoon (no shuttles between 12:00 and 17:00)

Staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience and seemed they really didn’t care, some responded to us with an attitude and were not helpful.

We’re sad to say we wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here and it really did taint our stay in El Nido.

Charlie's El Nido wasn't worth what we paid.
The main issue was our room. We booked a superior queen based on the pictures. Those pictures showed a spacious 300 sq foot room with a dedicated sitting area. What we got was a cramped and dated room with limited storage options and no place to sit other than the bed.

When I asked the front desk if we were in the correct room, I was told that's what we booked.

Clearly, the pictures were very misleading.

During our 3 night stay, we also had to deal with consistent blaring music at the pool area (sometimes the bar music would compete with the speakers at the pool so l needed noise canceling headphones to drown out the music), a series of power outages that flooded our room with emergency light at 2 and 4 am in the same night, early morning roosters as the daily wake up call, and a breakfast buffet that was mediocre.

The location is also far away from town so plan on timing the hotel shuttle or taking a tricycle for 300 pesos each way to town.

Also to note is that the guests were on the younger side so we would hear them heading back to their rooms at very late times. It was hard to sleep through the night with them opening and closing doors at 2-3am. That's not the hotel's fault but is important to note if you're looking to relax after a day exploring the islands around El Nido.

Very poorly organised hotel. Staff tried to check our family into a family room in front of building work being carried out. Unfortunately, I had to be assertive and inform the manager that the hotel either arranges a suitable room where our children will be well rested or we will cancel our booking. Manager was empathetic and arranged a suitable room. But, this should never have happened in the first place. The restaurant is extremely unorganised. On 2 occasions, we ordered our food and were blatantly given something else. The response was "unavailable". Again, I had to speak to the management. It's just unacceptable to be ordering something and yo be given something else without consulting with the guests. The staff try their best to resolve things quickly but these problems should never happen in the first place. If you're looking to book accommodation with your family, I wouldn't recommend you to visit this place until there is evidence of things improving. I certainly will never be coming back again.

A decent hotel in El Nido, service was pretty good, our room was clean and serviced everyday. The only issue we had was the lack of water pressure with the shower (basically drips). It was real bad one night that I had to ask my wife to use the bidet hose to spray me when the shower completely stopped dripping and I had soap and shampoo all over. Also be advised, you have to rent the beach towels if you have to take them offsite to island tours. Better yet, bring your own beach towels.

The most wonderful hotel with lovely staff.
We choose rooms with balconies which is so worth it. I love a cup of tea in the morning looking out at the mountains and rice fields around. The rooms are really large and kept very clean. Great night's sleep.
We had breakfast included during our stay which we really enjoyed .There was plenty of fruit and either yoghurt or overnight oats to have with. You can always ask for more of anything. The egg station was a good option. There were waffles and a range of bread and cake! If you don't want the general coffee you can always order a special coffee from the bar. Every day there were a selection of Philippine foods to try which we enjoyed

There are 2 pools which are kept very clean and plenty of beds to lounge close to the pools. You can also order cocktails during happy hour next to the pool

Although Charlie's isn't in the town of El Nido the hotel runs an excellent shuttle service to the town and local Lio beach. We frequently used this but did walk down to the Lio beach. They will also pick you up from the El Nido airport. The return shuttle goes on till 10 pm so ample time to have dinner in town

We would use the shuttle to get into town and then take a tricycle to another beach called Vanilla (proper name is Marimegmeg) We did also organise a taxi to take us to Nacpan beach through the hotel. All the beaches we visited Lio, Marimegmeg and Nacpan are special in their own way - either really natural or natural but had lovely bars and lunch places

It is so worth taking a boat trip which the hotel can help organise for you. They take you to the office where you are taken to the boat. Trip A was our choice which included snorkeling - incredible to visit little islands and canoe around the big lagoon

The staff are the amazing part of this hotel being so attentive, helpful and friendly - you are always greeted with massive smiles.

I would highly recommend this hotel

We stayed at Charlie's from December 20 to January 1, 2022 to celebrate Christmas, our 20th wedding anniversary, and the New Year. We are more than grateful to everyone in this hotel who made our stay memorable. The hotel might not be beachfront yet it gives you the kind of service where you are treated as family, with everything you need well-taken care of. Kat of the FO made sure we are able to visit other beaches and interesting places to eat in the area. The FO staff made sure we have shuttle service to and fro Lio Beach and the town. Thank you to JR and Mark for shutting us safely to and fro the hotel. The F&B staff led by Nina were very gracious; we enjoyed our casual talks with Irah, Pamela, Hurry, Jasiel, Margie, Venus and Jennifer while eating at the dining area which offers great food and drinks by the pool area. They arranged our private 20th wedding anniversary dinner at the rooftop and they made sure we had a good time celebrating this milestone. The housekeeping staff were very attentive to our room needs and makes sure our rooms are cleaned everyday. Our tour guide from Spider, Russell, together with Raf, Shoki, and Captain were the best tour guides making sure we get the best adventure out of the beach tours of El Nido. Charlie's Hotel has the warmth of the people of the Philippines and all of them in this hotel are definitely worth the stay. Our family highly recommends Charlie's El Nido. Thank you, Charlie's! See you all again soon!

The hotel is fairly new. The room itself was small, but clean and complete with toiletries, bathrobe, etc. The problem was we were assigned a room at the rear of the property, facing a concrete wall and right beside the hotel kitchen exhaust vent/chimney. It was very loud and running for most hours of the day and night. Needless to say, cooking smells also permeated the room.

We complained with the hotel manager but we were not offered a room transfer nor a complimentary upgrade to the other available rooms on the property. We were offered an alternate room but at DOUBLE the room rate we were paying. We decided we were going to endure one night since all the other hotels nearby had no vacancies.

We used the fitness gym that day. While the workout equipment was functional, the A/C was out of service -- the room was stuffy with no ventilation without airconditioning.

We also tried the spa. The massages we booked were both performed by skilled pros.

Breakfast was good. Prepared fresh and a fair amount of choices.

We cut our stay short, checked out the next day and transferred to Huni Lio Beach.

One star for the very friendly and helpful staff, one star for the spa, and one star for food and beverage.

Hello! The transfers from Puerto Princesa Airport to El Nido may be arranged with the hotel in El Nido or you may contact a local van operator. There are lots of van rentals in Puerto Princesa that you may get in touched with. Just search "Palawan Van Rentals" in facebook :) The land travel from Puerto Princesa to El Nido is about 5 to 6 hours. Better make sure that you get a comfortable van :)
