We booked two rooms for my family and visiting family from Europe. The location is excellent being just a few minutes taxi ride from Gambir train station and perhaps 10-15 minutes to reach Sarinah or Grand Indonesia shopping mall.
The hotel itself is very impressive and we were impressed with the friendliness of the staff who were also always very helpful and polite. The grounds are really huge with extensive gardens, a massive swimming pool and many other facilities.
Our room was comfortable with good aircon and a lovely bathroom with amazing powerful rain shower. The tv had many features such as Netflix, Disney, Vidio and others so the kids enjoyed their stay here. I believe our family in the next room only had local channels but fortunately thy had their laptops to keep themselves entertained.
When our family from Europe wanted to head to Soekarno-Hatta airport, the hotel arranged a Golden Bird Kijiang for them at a cost of Rp250k which they really liked. Blue Bird taxis are also very easy to get here.
So all the family really enjoyed the stay here and we will definitely want to come here again. Of all the grand old hotels that I have stayed at in the past, this hotel is probably the best.

Disappointed with his service, feeling in-prank. Staying on New Year's Eve 2025 with different rates, no special treatment, which should have fireworks nor so held for eco friendly reasons (fortunately in the Banteng Field there is a popular event of the Decade of Charming Water Fountain).
Even dinner wasn't there, though we were given a paper bracelet as a ticket to the new year's eve. They have a Koplo-themed event in the backyard, but the food that only a few have to pay for.
Breakfast pass also followed once (similar to the check-in process placed in the ballroom because the resto for breakfast was full), we ended up choosing in the lt 18 / executive lounge and the food was not varied, so no 5 star hotel experience breakfast was obtained. Making breakfast from a star hotel below is even better.

Well, this was the umpteenth time I met Laila, the FO who helped me check in, making the whole process feel easy and fast... In the midst of so many guests queuing, she still tried to check in early and was concerned about my needs at that time. This makes it comfortable to stay in Borobudur. Although the hotel offers a choice between one large bed or two twin beds, unfortunately it refuses to confirm whether twin beds are available. Our reservation for a twin bedded room was made many months in advance, but it appears that no steps were made between the reservation date and arrival date to allocate a room with twin beds. When we arrived, no rooms with twin beds was available and the hotel required a significant additional payment if we wanted an additional bed. Similarly, on a subsequent booking for a twin bed room, it was clear that the hotel had not taken any steps to allocate a room with twin beds.

Our Front desk team had allocate your room according to your advance reservation through online travel agent, which is a King size bed, superior room. Based on availability, guest can make up their mind to change the bed preference with same room category upon check in process, but unfortunately, we are running out of Twin size bed with same room category on that period. I believe our front desk had over you to have a little additional charges for upgrading your room to a higher room category that is still available with Twin size bed. I’m giving this hotel five stars because ultimately it is that, especially for the price. However, if you are considering booking a room you need to keep a few things in mind.
The only rooms I recommend are the newly renovated rooms, which I believe are located on just one floor of the hotel. These are the executive rooms that come with a great club experience.
When I originally checked into my room, I was booked into the garden wing, a one bedroom suite. Thinking this would be a great getaway, I was sadly disappointed. The room was definitely in need of an upgrade and updating. In fact, it was quite bad by all standards. There were tiny insects in the room and the windows didn’t close fully. The A/C struggled and the hallways felt like a sauna. Everything about the room, and the garden wing for that matter, felt rundown, especially the kitchen which I believe is original, likely 50 years old. I do not recommend staying in an older room unless you get a dynamite deal and don’t mind some of the inconveniences I just mentioned. I certainly would not consider those rooms five star rooms, based on my experience. The new rooms are, however. I could not stay in the room and paid for an upgrade, which was well worth it.
Overall, I would say the hotel is in need of immediate attention to keep its five star status. It is starting to feel like “a place of former glory”, but still has elements that are great (staff, food, service, etc). Hence my five star review. But significant work will be required over the next 10+ years to ensure it is a first class destination (upgrading rooms, repairing the façade of the exterior, etc.). I also recommend that they consider making at least one of the restaurants entirely smoke free. To most westerners, the smell of cigarette smoke while dining is off putting, IMHO.

The food is delicious, lots of choices and not boring. The prices are reasonable if you try some of the restaurants below like Miyama Japanese and there is really cool teppanyaki with the help of a skilled chef. Apart from that, the condition of the restaurant, especially in the 18 Club Lounge, is a clean, fragrant and comfortable room to relax with the help of several canned drinks opened by the beautiful WIKE staff. There are various types of food in the lobby on the 2nd floor. The rooms are also nice and spacious. During my 4 night stay I was helped by several staff to clean the room called PUTRI and they were very friendly and during my stay there were no problems. Thank you very much :)

We booked the Borobudur Hotel for 7 days because the price-performance ratio seemed good. The location is quite good in the middle of the city. Monas and Gambir Central Station are also nearby. The 50th anniversary will be celebrated in 2024. And you can see that especially in the rooms. The biggest criticism is the condition of the rooms. Bed linen is grey and with tears. Dust is not wiped at all. Everything seems a bit run down, although the furnishings are actually fine. I found the design of the hotel to be tasteful and typical of the country. The staff is, as is the case everywhere in Indonesia, very friendly and attentive. The outdoor areas are also very nice. The huge breakfast room is very, very busy, mostly by Indonesians. At weekends, there are also lots of children. The other restaurants are good, but expensive. All in all, a good hotel with reasonable room prices. However, a general renovation should be planned.
